The Decepticon uprising had just begun and the world of Cybertron has fallen into chaos since then after Megatron had cut ties with Orion Pax and the Council. Firestar was a beautiful young femme bot who used to work as a nurse at the gladiatorial pits of Kaon, who was a close friend to the Autobot fire engine, Inferno (who had romantic feelings for Firestar), and who was close friends with the other fembots, Arcee, Chromia, Moonracer, and Elita-One. Firestar had been worried sick about the one mech whom she loved so dearly other than her best friend, Inferno.

And that mech regretfully was none other than Megatron himself. Long before Megatronus shortened his name and he became the evil warlord and leader of the Decepticons, he was once a nameless slave and miner referred to as, D-16, and he saw the corruption and the injustice on Cybertron before he later left the Energon Mines and used his skills in combat to become a gladiator, and when he eventually became a champion in Kaon, he decided to name himself 'Megatronus' after one of the Thirteen Original Primes. Firestar had only one job as a nurse who took care of wounded gladiators at the Pits of Kaon and it wasn't until she actually got to meet the famous gladiator while she was mending his battle scars.

Firestar had taken care of her patient until Firestar was no longer a nurse in Kaon. When she feared for Megatronus' life while he was battling in the arena, she almost got herself killed and thus, she had been forced to leave Kaon and move over to Iacon where she became friends with the Autobots like Inferno, and Autobot fembots like Arcee, Elita-One, Moonracer, and Chromia. She never saw Megatronus until she met him again when he left the gladiatorial pits of Kaon to become a politician. Firestar and Megatronus have met with each other a couple of times and they even got to know each other for months until they eventually became more than friends when Firestar finally confessed her true feelings for Megatronus and he accepted her as their friendship turned to romance.

Inferno, one of the Autobots, was also close friends with Firestar, but he was also madly in love with her, yet Firestar had been proposed to by Megatronus to be his future conjunx-endura (Transformers word for "spouse") instead to which Firestar accepted, much to Inferno's jealousy and devastation. Inferno really loved Firestar, but she loved Megatronus more than the Autobot who's own vehicle mode was a fire engine. Both Firestar and Megatronus had their own vehicle modes and they were both jets, but Firestar didn't love Inferno back not because he couldn't fly, but because he loved her too much and she didn't want to have a love triangle between her, her best friend, and her future husband.

Ever since Megatronus saw fit to shorten his name to "Megatron" when he proposed his plans for a just society to the Council before he revealed his true colors as he demanded to be named the next Prime and overthrow the Old Guard by force before his friend, student and brother figure, Orion Pax, humiliated Megatronus as he said to him and the Council about how it was not right to achieve justice with violence before Megatron was rejected and denied the title of Prime by the High Council. After he left in anger, betrayal, and humiliation, Megatron cut ties with Orion Pax and the Council until he gathered his followers, made them into his army of Decepticons, and then waged war on Cybertron and he had intended to claim the Matrix of Leadership for himself to make himself the next Prime wherever it may be.

With the war happening on Cybertron and Megatron leading his Decepticons against the Autobots to make them pay for years of oppression, Firestar began to fear of losing his sparkmate until she decided to make her choice to leave the Autobots, travel to Kaon and save Megatron from whatever may happen to him during the war on Cybertron. Inferno, however, refuses to allow Firestar to leave, and yet she has made her decision to go where others might consider a fate worse than death.

"Firestar, you can't go!" Inferno begged Firestar.

"But I have to, Inferno," said Firestar. "Megatronus needs me and I don't want to lose him in this war. He needs someone to help him, someone to be there for him, someone to love him!"

Inferno grabs Firestar by the forearm before he pleads to her, "Please, I don't want you to accept a fate worse than death! Megatron is evil and dangerous just like his Decepticons and I won't allow him to take you away, Firestar." he said.

"I don't care if he hurts me! I know about the carnage he has wrought onto this world, but I still love him no matter who or what he turns into. Now please, for the last time, let me go to him." Firestar told Inferno.

"Trust me, you don't know what you're doing! If you go to him, he'll capture you or...or kill you! Do you want him to extinguish your spark, Firestar? You need to understand that Megatron is no longer the mech you knew and loved!" Inferno replied.

"I don't NEED your protection, Inferno. I can look out for myself." Firestar said. "I understand that he's fallen down a path that no one should follow, but he means the universe to me. I am going to be with him and you can't stop me," she told Inferno.

This time, Inferno became more desperate as he begged Firestar not to leave Iacon and the Autobots to marry the Decepticon warlord. "Firestar, please! I can't allow you to go is because...is because I love you! I've loved you since we first laid eyes on each other. I love you more than anything in the world and I would die for you!" Inferno confessed.

Firestar's optics widened with her surprise and her mind was boggled with what her best friend said to her. "You really mean it?" she asked.

"Yes! I ask for nothing much, but for you to forsake Megatron and to be my conjunx-endura instead." Inferno said before taking a knee down before Firestar while gently holding her hand. "Firestar, let's spend our lives together. We can help the Autobots defeat the Decepticons and win this dreadful war. Then you and I can start a family of our own and I promise that I'll protect you, even from Megatron himself. So, will you marry me?" he proposed.

"Inferno, I...I...I'm sorry, but I can't." Firestar said. "My spark belongs to someone else and I have already made my decision to go to Kaon and to be with Megatron forever."

Those words wounded Inferno's spark like being cut open by a knife as the fire engine Autobot began to cry. "You're rejecting me? Firestar, no. Please, stay with me! I beg of you, don't leave me! I LOVE YOU!!!" Inferno pleaded.

"I am so sorry, Inferno. But I have to accept my fate, even if it breaks my spark to see you suffer without me, old friend." Firestar told Inferno.

Firestar leaves Inferno as she transforms herself into a jet before she leaves Iacon as she flies off into the sunset, leaving the Autobot to whimper and cry while on his knees. Two hours later, after Firestar left, Inferno could feel his spark breaking into pieces as his love and affection for the femme bot he loves has been rejected and now Firestar is going to be together with the Decepticon warlord for all eternity. Then suddenly, something changed inside of Inferno as his emotions changed from deep sorrow and pain to anger and betrayal. Inferno gritted his dental plates with rage as flashes of memories showed him images of Firestar and Megatron spending time together romantically which was enough to drive the Autobot insane.

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!" Inferno bellowed in rage and sadness. "MEGATRON!!!! You have stolen my sparkmate...and now you will pay for taking her away from me!" he declared.
