----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Slipping the bookmark into his textbook, Machias slammed the heavy tome shut with a sigh. Despite it being one of the very last free days he'd have the pleasure of spending at Thors, Machias had figuratively chained himself to his desk since early that morning. The book he had been taking notes from was only one of multiple that he had been leafing through that day, and though the content was dense, he kind of appreciated focusing the entirety of his attention on something productive. If not for it, he was sure that his sadness would be much more pronounced.

As a whole, the boy didn't consider himself who felt down often. There was the situation with his cousin, of course, but this was the first time in a while that he had felt that heaviness in his chest that he associated with a mix of a deep dread. His time at Thors had allowed him to grow and change for the better, opening his eyes to a world beyond the prejudice that had been so deeply rooted within him. And Class VII...

Class VII was in a category all of its own. Despite all of the squabbles and disagreements he had had with some of them, he had come to trust them both implicitly and explicitly, coming to see them much like a second family. It was hard for Machias not to have bittersweet feelings over the fact that they'd all be parting ways soon.

"...I should probably get myself some lunch," he spoke aloud, throwing his arms up over his head and trying to stretch out the tightness in his shoulders, "Might be good to see what the others are up to too." It'd be better to actually hang out with them while he still could rather dwell on their inevitable parting. He wondered in particular where Linnea would be.

Shrugging on his jacket, Machias made for the door.

Euthalia stroked fondly at her gelding's nose, trying not to let her emotions overwhelm her. The quickly passing days meant that it'd only be so long before Class VII all went their separate ways, so she had committed herself not thinking too about it until the day arrived. Unfortunately, the last thing she had expected was that she'd end up getting choked up upon entering the stables of all things. In the midst of everything else, it had slipped her mind that leaving the school also meant leaving the horse that she had ridden and cared for for as a member of the equestrian club.

And silly though it may have sounded, she genuinely felt like she had bonded with the animal during her time here. Perhaps it was because she had only ever ridden him at school when things around them had been in relative peace, but riding atop his back had always made her feel calm. He had always been a gentle steed too, reliable and patient with her even when her initial inexperience had caused her to nudge him a little too hard or take longer than necessarily to saddle him up.

To her embarrassment, she felt her eyes beginning to burn a little, though tears had yet to actively form. From her peripheral vision, she could see Jusis--who had also come to tend to his own steed--looking at her, the hand that held his horse brush faltering.

"...Do you want me to finish tending to your horse for you?" The words were spoken quietly, and though his tone was a little flat, Euthalia knew him well enough now to understand the compassion behind the offer. Lips curving into a little smile, she let out a quick laugh and shook her head.

"I'll be fine, I think! But thank you, Jusis. I just need a moment is all."
