Chapter 1

Ruby was excited the Vytal Festival was finally here. Due to the increase in crime and white fang activities the one scheduled for her first year was postponed to the second year however because of Roman Torchwick and the white fang blowing a hole in the middle of Vale allowing a swarm of Grimm to pour into the city the kingdoms postponed to it's next scheduled time which just so happened to be her fourth year. Her excitement waned when she saw "JNPR" enter the cafeteria and remembered their first leader. In their first year, rumors started circling about their original leader and a day later he was gone. Though something she never told anyone was that she had gone to Ozpin hoping to find a way to help her fellow leader and saw Jaune leaving his office. Jaune had put a smile on and told her he was going away for a bit but his eyes held resignation and acceptance. She didn't know why and when she asked Ozpin afterward she learned Jaune had turned in a resignation form and quit Beacon. It made her feel like a failure being unable to help her first friend. That same feeling has stuck with her making her determined not to make the same mistakes. A month after Jaunes sister come to Beacon to fill in his place and while she was friendly and told Ruby that Jaune had enrolled in a new school, she drove NPR like a drill sergeant not even Pyrrha's "fame" stopped her. Team RWBY fell in the rankings when it came to JNPR and it drove Weiss and Yang up the wall, neither of them liked losing.

"How's everyone doing?" Jane asked in a chipper tone.

"Just hoping the Vytal festival isn't canceled this year." Ruby shrugged.

"It better not be I've been waiting since our second year to fight," Yang growled in annoyance.

"If it wasn't for the White Fang this would have been our second one." Weiss pouted. She had been hoping to show her sister how much she improved.

"I wouldn't worry after the breach Vale's police and hunters came down hard on all the White fang here," Nora commented before starting on her pancakes.

"Hmm," Blake was distracted and barely commented.

"Blake?/What's wrong?/ I didn't say something wrong again? Did I?" RW_Y asked together.

"Remember Those weird floating structures Atlas noticed a few months ago?" Blake looked at Weiss.

"I remember Winter talking about them but she said it was likely stress-induced hallucinations." Weiss nodded.

"I guess that was just a cover story. Look at this new statement released by Atlas." Blake showed an article to her team and the shock was evident.

"That's... That's preposterous if such a large land mass existed someone should have known about it!" Weiss denied what she just read.

"Awesome!" Yang and Ruby yelled with excitement. Jane chuckled to herself but underneath was wondering what this meant as the last messaged her father got from Teo and Lucia stayed something about a civil war ending and Jaune becoming a teacher.

-------------------------------

Jaune sat there with his head resting in the palm of his hand. Of course, Atlas would be the one to reveal Remnant to the world. It also didn't help that Olivert wanted to go and "greet" their island neighbors (more like explore and have some fun away from the pressure older members of the noble faction were trying to place on him since Cedric vanished). Once Principal Aurelia had finished speaking the room fell quiet.

"So I'm guessing the Prince wants our help in some way?" Major Irving broke the silence.

"Indeed. More precisely he has asked for Schwarzer, saying something about him already being familiar with the region." Aurelia threw Jaune under the bus resulting in all eyes focusing on him.

"I... Yeah, I know a bit. I ended up spending a few months there before I joined Thors." Jaune didn't see a point in lying if Olivert had already found out. He had likely told Aurelia everything.

"But how?" Irving was visibly confused.

"Is that why you were the last to apply to Thors?" Towa asked showing just how much access she had to files while she was the Student Council President.

"It's a long story and some of it isn't my place to say but the short of it is someone close to me was from the islands and I wanted to be like them so with some help from a friend of theirs I got into one of Remnants Hunter schools but I felt like it wasn't for me and came back to Yimir and applied to Thors." Jaune left his mother's name out of his explanation to prevent anyone from looking into her too much. Towa had a look that told him he'd have to explain in more detail later.

"Hunter School? Is it like Thors?" Irving asked.

"Kinda but not really. See as Principal Aurelia explained those islands have their own monsters in terms of The Grimm. Teenagers go to those schools at the age of seventeen and spend four years there in teams of four learning how to kill those monsters." Jaune explained. The only Academy that was close to a traditional military school like Thors was Atlas.

"So if you had stayed you would be in your final year?" Aurelia asked and Jaune nodded. "Don't get me wrong Schwarzer but knowing just how skilled you are why did you feel like that kind of institution wasn't for you?"

"Ah, I figured you would ask that." Jaune knew he couldn't hide such a fact. "You see before Thors I didn't have the best opinion on my own skills. But more than that I was trying not to reveal the existence of Erabonia to those at the school so I only used the minimal training my father gave me in Court Fencing. My 'partner' noticed my less-than-ideal skills and confronted me about it." There was no hiding the disappointment in his voice as he thought about that time. "With the help of the friend, I told you about we had devised a fabricated story, and unfortunately my partner took offense at it. I had already been having second thoughts about the school so once rumors about me started spreading I took the chance talked to their headmaster and came back. Though I don't regret anything Thors has done  so much for me." His eyes drifted to Towa.

"Indeed and you have done much for Thors, us, and everyone in the empire. I can see why Prince Olivert wants our assistance." Aurelia nodded.

With Randy back in Crossbell helping the SSS with their project, we only have Towa, Me, and Major Irving what are we supposed to do with our students?" Jaune had a feeling he knew the answer but he still needed to ask.

(After school)

Jaune sat waiting for Class VII to calm down after their day of testing. Of course, Olivert would decide this and somehow already have approval. Though he couldn't fault him after Cedric went off with Shirley The Nobel Alliance sans the four great houses were pushing for either Olivert to take the throne or trying to engage their sons to Alfin so they could take the throne. He noticed Musse's small smirk and figured she knew far more than even he did. Her whole plan for The Great Twilight was a stroke of genius sure people did in Operation Mille Mirage but had she not brought a defensive force together the curse would have caused so much damage.

"Hey, teach can we go now we're done with those lame tests?" Ash called from his seat as he leaned back in his chair.

"Yeah you're right Ash he should have let us go by now." Juna glared at him.

"Is there a reason for this delay Instructor Jaune?" Altina questioned.

"Oh, Instructor what would Towa say if she knew you were keeping us behind to ogile at us?" Musse teased. Krut was the only quiet one figuring there would be an answer coming soon.

"Well I was waiting for you all to stop talking and I guess it worked." The glares he got told him his 'joke' wasn't as funny as he thought it was. "Ok, ok. To be honest there is news I have for you all. At the beginning of next week, the field studies of the Branch campus are back on with our first one being rather long however I cannot go into more detail as there will be an announcement tomorrow." Jaune explained

"Wait really?! But what about That?" Juna asked.

"Hopefully we will be back by then in case we are needed." Jaune placated her. "But do you really think they would need that much help?"

"Indeed during their raid, they showed excellent teamwork even after so long apart." Altina nodded.

"You do have a point, Tilly." Juna conceded.

"Is there anything you can tell us?" Kurt finally spoke up.

"Be prepared to pack for maybe a month if not more it's kind of up in the air as to how long we will be gone." Jaune shrugged. With that Class VII was sent into a frenzy

of questions. "Calm down! You know I can't give you any more information. You can all go to your clubs or back to the dorms. Class dismissed." He watched as the class left and went back into his musing. 'I wonder how Nicolas and the Arcs are?'

"Jaune... Instructor Jaune." He was quickly pulled from his musing as Altina started poking him.

"Yes, I am Jaune. Is there something you need?" Jaune looked at the silver-haired girl.

"Why?" Altina asked.

"Why what?"

"Why did you fill out guardianship forums?" Ah, so that's what this was about.

"Well since Alberich and Osborne are dead and the intelligence division is under major rehaul I figured you'd need someone to look after you," Jaune explained.

"I am 15 I can take care of myself, I do not wish for another 'father'." Altina glared.

"Everyone needs help every now and then Tilly, and I want to do what I can and help you grow just like everyone else in the class." Jaune smiled.

"'Sigh' I shall think upon it." Altina sighed.

"Is this what I was like for Dad?" Jaune asked no one in particular.

(The next day.)

"Welcome students of Thors Branch Academy I know many of you are wondering why a field study has been announced with such short notice." Principal Aurelia spoke in front of the students. The students started murmuring amongst themselves.

"Silence!" Major Irving demanded.

"That wasn't necessary they have a right to be curious but thank you Instructor Irving. Anyway as I was saying." Aurelia turned on a projector reviling a basic map of the island of Remnant.

"As you can see a group of islands have been discovered. The inhabitants of the islands have split them up into 4 city-states they call kingdoms. The most northern kingdom Atlas noticed the events of September first and grew curious and sent a scouting force. We of the empire have been in talks with them since then." The room suddenly burst into questions. "Please refrain from asking questions until the end. It has been decided that We will accompany Prince Olivert in venturing to the southwestern island that houses the kingdoms of Vale and Vacuo for an event known as Vytal in an attempt to foster a relationship with these kingdoms."

"WHAT?!"
