[8] NO FAITH.

RUE SAT THERE, accompanied by ali, or who she recently just found out his actually name was martin.

he looked at rue with sympathy as she sat there, playing with her pancakes, venting about the events a few hours prior.

"i just thought she was really fucking different, you know?" she began as she pulled the hood from her hoodie over her head.

"what makes you say that?" martin asked her taking a bite out of his pancake, "because-

A FEW HOURS EARLIER...

their lips connected as one, holding eachother trying to eliminate all space between them, until michaela pulled away...

"are you, uh are you okay?" rue stumbled out immediately thinking she did something wrong, she watched michaela quickly move away from her and get out of bed.

"you should leave." michaela said staring at nothing but her feet, rue's heart broke into a million pieces, she didn't understand what was going on.

"did i do something wrong?" rue questioned feeling her heart rate increase rapidly, "LEAVE." michaela raised her voice but avoided her gaze, she know if her eyes met hers she would break.

"but i-" rue began but was immediately cut off by michaela; "DON'T YOU GET IT RUE? I DON'T LIKE YOU LIKE THAT."

lies

"I'M NOT GAY."

lies

"IT WAS A MISTAKE."

lies

every single word michaela spat was laced with venom, something hit rue, she wasn't looking at michaela anymore, she was looking at jules.

all the pain came back like the day jules abandoned her at the train station, rue didn't say a word to michaela, she simply grabbed her things and obeyed her order to leave.

as soon as the door shut behind her, michaela slid down and buried her head in her hands, and finally cried.

she hated this feeling, she hated the denial, and she hated every word she said to rue.

but the truth is, michaela was scared.

scared of acceptance.

scared of new feelings.

scared of loosing rue.

but she never realised how far she pushed rue away when she denied her strong feelings for the brunette.

"and that's what happened." rue sighed as she slouched in her seat while martin took a moment to process everything that rue told him.

then he realised what rue was blind to, "it seems to me, she's in denial." he told the brunette in front of him, rue scrunched her face up before laughing dryly at his statement.

"she's just like jules, a fucking game player." rue spat, "i don't even know if i want to be here anymore, the world's just really fucking ugly, and even uglier without michaela." she began to break.

"you said you don't wanna be here." martin started, "okay, what then? how do you want your mum and sister to remember you? how do you want michaela to remember you?"

rue tried to hold back her tears as martin asked her those questions, trying to not break.

"as someone who tried really hard to be someone they couldn't." was all she said as a single tear fell down her cheek.

"i got faith in you, and i got faith in michaela too." martin smiled as he tucked into his pancakes.

but rue didn't have any faith, not yet at least.
