Batman clutched his fists and angry but hurt

After everything he did for Selina using his mother's name was one thing but taking her pearls..... really was too far

The room was silent Zatanna and Lucius felt bad for Bruce Tim didn't know what was going on Dick folded his arms and Batman looks up to him

Batman: You gonna say "I told you so"?

Nightwing: If I was still Robin I probably would. But I did tell you you night rat.

Robin: I'm sorry but what's going on?

Batman: It's personal. Listen. You all make sure Crane's men are tied and rounded for Gordon and the police. I'll meet you all back at the Batcave.

Zatanna: Where you going?

Batman: To get answers from Selina.

Batman walks back out to the patio and then releases the bat winged glider from Returns

He leaps off the rail with people and police looking up at him cheering

Gordon smiles looking up at him gliding off knowing Batman had saved Gotham again

But if only The Dark Knight felt the same way

Later around 2:30AM after failing to tempt on making millions with Martha Wayne's pearl necklace Selina was on the road out of Gotham with Ms Kitty in an animal box on the shotgun seat

Selina soon found the road blocked....

....by Bruce standing in the road....with his hands in his pockets

Selina: Awe shit.

Ms Kitty meows in her box

Selina: I know sweetie we'll get out of here soon. I just need to have one last talk with our rich friend.

Selina exits the car seeing Bruce's expression

Selina: Hey Bruce. I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was leaving but....I figured Gotham would be filled with fear gas by now but since it was already midnight you probably stopped him. I didn't have any doubt but....

Bruce: I trusted you Selina....and you stole something important to me. Why?

Selina: I take it your friend the Magician told you. Look Bruce I don't blame you for being angry. But you said yourself when you approved my parole that I should start fresh. So I was...just I needed money and I can't in Gotham. Not anymore.

Bruce: You could have asked me for help.

Selina: And how would it make it easier? I'm a pariah to this city. Not that I care but you can't start fresh with a well known criminal record. You bailing me out of jail wasn't gonna change that.

Bruce: Why does it have to matter?

Selina: You know why. Bruce you should know....when I first knew you I knew you were something different than many. And I don't mean the rich role but how you were to me as both yourself and Batman. Back then I was intrigued and yeah our time together was fun...and special...but it was only to drop your guard. You put a lot of faith in someone who isn't trustworthy. I'm sure if you knew me before I was pushed out that window maybe I would have been. Maybe we could have....

They went silent

Selina turns away admiring the city

Selina: Bruce the truth is....I changed forever that night. The woman I use to be died out that window. I'm just.... I'm just the way I am. Like you're the way you are. But I will say the more close I got to you the easier it was to have you like clay in my hands.

Bruce: So it was all just an act. Everything we been through together....it was all a game to you.

Selina: It.... started that way...and a lot has happened along the way. But yeah. Bruce despite what I felt about you...it wasn't meant to be anything more. You were just a job. A more... interesting special job. But just a job. And it's done. I'm done with you. It's not complicated at all Bruce. And it shouldn't have to be. I saw how you and Zatanna were. Especially how I use to see you with Dr. Meridian. But given you grew up with Zatanna I can't compete with that. And I doesn't matter.

Bruce: How can you say that? Selina you're better than that.

Selina: How? I hardly done anything good in my life anyway. I'm not a hero like you Bruce and the fact is I don't want to be. I'm a criminal. That's all I am. Nothing more.

Bruce: I don't believe that. We both know you're more than that. You're just afraid to admit it.

Selina: Actually I'm not. I told you back in 1992 I just couldn't live with myself. So don't pretend this is a happy ending. And it never will be. It's over. I made my choice Bruce. So I'm getting out of here while the gettens good.

Bruce: So you want to leave Gotham to start fresh but still be a criminal? What makes you think you won't be caught wherever you go?

Selina: I have my ways.

Bruce: Well your ways aren't the best. Every decision you made was always out of your own selfish desires. I wanted to believe there was good in you.... but you keep pushing me away.

Selina: Look on the bright side Bruce. You still have Zatanna.

Bruce: Don't bring Zatanna into this! In fact you were the one who pushed her and Chase to me....each time I give you a chance...you spit in my face.

Selina: Oh Bruce. Didn't realize how sensitive you were.

Bruce: Just stop it Selina. Stop pretending nothing matters! Because it does! You mattered as well as everyone did! Otherwise you'd still be rotting in Blackgate.

Selina: Well if I matter that much to you....why do you always have to be self-righteous about it?

Bruce: Because nobody can. Believe me if there were who could I'd let them do it but there ain't. So I have to. Without Batman Gotham falls.

Selina: And that's why we're better off forbidden.

Bruce: Or maybe we're just better off without one another.

That struck a nerve in Selina's heart Bruce deep down regretted it but he had a right to stand up for himself

Selina: I guess you're right. Maybe we are. Look at us Bruce. We're toxic. Maybe more toxic than the Scarecrow's fear gas was. We can't ignore our nature. You're a protector and I'm a thief.

Bruce: And I know now you'll never be anything more.

Selina: Well glad we came to that understanding.

Bruce and Selina have each other one last serious look and she turns walking to her car and turns to Bruce for a brief moment

Bruce: Goodbye Selina.

Selina:.... goodbye.

She sits in her driver's seat slamming the door Bruce stepped aside letting her drive away

It was unsure if Selina would ever return or not but Bruce wouldn't expect it anytime soon

From the trees Zatanna steps out on the road seeing Bruce facing down and worried about him

Zatanna: Are you ok?

Bruce: No. I'm starting to think Selina's beyond changing. I thought I could at least try and change her.

Zatanna's heart breaks for the man she cares about and hugs him tight

Zatanna: I'm so sorry.

Bruce: I know... Selina made her choice but now I have to make mine.

Zatanna: You deserve so much better Bruce. With all the good you did here the lives you saved the criminals you put away. You.... deserve the best. I mean if your father could see you now. He'd be proud just like me.

Bruce: Yours be proud too. What you did for me Barbra Tim....even Selina you stood by us without us asking no matter the cost so... thank you.

Zatanna: Course. I never stop thinking about you. About us. I never told you the real reason I came back. I started to hope....

Silence came upon them with a stare Zatanna leans up to Bruce's face and pressed her lips on his sealing a first kiss

Bruce softly kissed her back

After a moment they broke it they gazed again
