<Hey, Yuki.>

<Hm?> Mafuyu typed back through the VC chat, attention having been drawn by the small notification noise. She watched as the three dots that indicated Kanade's typing danced on her screen.

<Can you undeafen? I want to talk.>

<OK.> She used the hotkeys on her keyboard to allow her headphones to receive audio from the call once again. "Hello?"

"Hey. I'm done with the basic melody, could you listen it over?"

"Sure."

The file was attached to their chat and Mafuyu went ahead and listened to it in silence, thinking about ways to make it better, eventually coming up with only a few suggestions.

"I think we should add another instrument around the minute mark. Like a piano, or something of the sort. Just to balance it out. It sounds a bit bland, if you can understand what I mean." Mafuyu tapped her admittedly short jails against the desk. This was partly because of stress biting, and also because doctors shouldn't have long nails and her mother wished for her to get used to it before it "became a problem".

"..." Kanade hummed softly through her microphone, before responding. "I'll consider it. It's going to be a little hard, because I want this song to sound really authentic... but a friend of a friend plays, so maybe I could get her to record some samples for me... but then she'd know I make music... hm..."

"If not, just add some other noise, K. Or get Miku to sing something to add there. I don't want to trouble you too much." Mafuyu offered. She heard the soft rustling of what she imagined was her fellow group member shaking her head, her overly long hair gently hitting against her headset.

"It's alright. I'll figure it out. There's actually something else I want to talk about, Yuki."

Mafuyu adjusted her own headphones before answering, glancing at the clock. One thirty am. What could Kanade want so late?

But well, she didn't really mind. These late-night calls were their safe place, their sanctuary. And as long as Kanade was the one virtually conversing with her, Mafuyu would stay up as late as necessary.

Even if studying for medical school to make her mother happy was harder when sleep deprived...

"What is it, K?"

Kanade's hesitancy was heard through the call in a series of short, cut-off breaths, before she seemed to find her words and continued. "Are you alright, Mafuyu?"

Huh? Mafuyu tilted her head, despite Kanade obviously not being able to see it. Her real name, too? "I believe so. What prompted this?"

"I heard about your strange visit from Mizuki." She answered. "I trust Tsukasa-nii's judgment when he says Kamishiro's a good person, but..."

"Ah. So that's what this is about." Mafuyu relaxed back onto her seat, not knowing when she had tensed up regardless. Good. Kanade didn't know.

"I'm fine, K. There's nothing to worry about. Kamishiro-san is nice." She responded. Or atleast, as nice as Mafuyu thought someone like him could be. To further convince Kanade, she added, "He's like Amia. But taller."

"He didn't ask you to do anything weird, right? I don't want to judge people by their reputations, but—"

"No, Kanade. Truly. I'm fine." She emphasized. Kanade worried too much, sometimes. It was sort of cute, but at the same time, she didn't want someone else to be constantly bothering themselves for her sake. Her mother already worried and cared enough for both of them.

"Okay." Kanade said, not pressing further. "Can you video call so I can show you my notes?"

Dumb, obvious excuse. Mafuyu took the bait everytime. "Sure, but it's a bit dark."

"That's okay."

They got a lot of work done that night, Kanade with her composing and Mafuyu with her lyrics. Their idle chatter didn't feel forced as it did with other people for Mafuyu. And every time she glanced at Kanade, concentrating on her work, her long, slightly untidy bangs framing her face, she could feel her admiration for her grow.

Kanade was her savior. Kanade was the very feelings she wanted to possess, the desire to keep going she desperately chased. And more importantly, Kanade was her muse.

I'm going to do something good, Kanade.

I'm going to save someone like you saved me.

("Hm? A text from Saki-chan? What could she possibly need?

...regarding SEKAI...?")

"Tsukasa."

"Yes?" The blond answered, stopping what he was doing. Underneath him, Akito was blushing madly.

"Don't you think this is— a little weird?" He murmured. "Especially considering the whole, ah, Rui thing..."

Tsukasa tilted his head. "Do you want me to stop?"

"..." Akito stared up at him with wide eyes, unable to comprehend how a human being could be so ethereal and yet so strangely horrible at the same time. Then, with a defeated sigh, he answered; "No."

The confirmation seemingly everything he needed, Tsukasa pressed a kiss to his forehead, then his nose, and then, finally, he gave him a peck on the lips.

Well, that was underwhelming, Akito thought, suddenly deciding that, hey, he was the one supposed to be proving Tsukasa he was worthy of his best friend or whatever, and so, he grabbed a handful of the slightly longer parts of his senpai's hair and pulled him back in, this time making sure to capture every single centimeter of his senpai's mouth.

And oh, if that thought didn't make him feel a certain way. Rui may have been right in that he found it amusing, enjoyable, to have his superior at his mercy, but he'd die before admitting that to him.

Now, it's not that Akito's trying to brag or anything, but he's both pretty damn hot and pretty damn good at kissing, which is usually a spectacular combination for moments like this where he has one of the most gorgeous fucking people he's ever met at his literal fingertips and needs to convince them of something. Tsukasa was literally so perfect it made his stomach churn.

Or atleast, he appeared to be. That's a can of worms to be opened later, he decided.

Akito moved away, desperately trying to regain his ability to breathe because unfortunately his lungs are homophobic. Gathering his strength (and courage) to do what he was going to do next, he whispered to Tsukasa as if to make up for the lost time. "I bet Rui-senpai's never had you like this. Here you are, jumping at the opportunity to taste someone else. Under all those layers of being proper and a star and whatnot, you're just starved, huh?"

The strange noise Tsukasa made as Akito shoved him backwards so he was now on top to quite literally kiss him into the mattress was totally worth it as he reinstated their activities.

Tsukasa's long, delicate fingers moved to hold him in the same way Akito was holding him, but much gentler (lovingly, though Akito would never say), seemingly not knowing where the boundary lied. Akito was having none of it, deciding to ignore the way Tsukasa looked absolutely fucking angelical for now.

Personally, with the way he himself was practically clawing at him, he thought it was obvious he didn't mind the treatment both ways, but well. He guesses that's just another wonderful trait Tsukasa has. The power of consent or whatever. Rui should learn from him.

"Oi, Senpai, do I need to tell you everything or what?" Akito said as he tugged Tsukasa away from him by his hair, relishing in his slightly pained but wanting expression. "I'm not a fucking instrument, alright? You don't need to be so gentle. If anything, I should be, considering your whole situation, but you don't really mind, do you?" He snorted, before going back to his point. "Where's the you that was calling me names earlier?"

Tsukasa blinked, expression unchanging from beneath him. And then, he said, "You're not an instrument, yet you want me to play you like one?"

Fuckkk this shiit.

And so, Akito did what most teenage boys would do when presented with such an opportunity, and he kissed Tsukasa again, goddamnit.

("How do you think Tsukasa-senpai and otouto-kun are getting along?"

"Oh, just wonderfully. I'm sure of it.")
