(112) Nobody Said Smart People Necessarily Have Common Sense

The kitchen at the Lin’s mansion was quite sizeable already and the decorations very luxurious. All the cabinets and appliances were from overseas and obviously of higher grades.

But the kitchen at the Lu’s was even bigger. Perhaps, it was because the mansion in and of itself was bigger. The Lu’s kitchen has a large island. Above the island, there was a hanging rack made out of real wood. There was also a wet bar and a TV complete with sound system. The entire kitchen was a location for relaxation, entertainment, and networking.

Lin Yiyi felt that the person who designed this mansion must have had a lot of love for it. And that love extended to every corner of the place including each flower, grass, tree, wood…

“Your place is very nice and the kitchen is very big. I wish my kitchen looked like this,” said Lin Yiyi with genuine envy.

Hot dang. The kitchen alone must be at least 50 ~ 60 m2 by itself!

Nobody loved a kitchen more than a chef.

She had a newfound respect for this man after seeing his kitchen.

Lu Xun smiled humbly.

He looked around the kitchen. He hadn’t expected that the kitchen that he thought of as a waste of space for making him walk a few extra steps would receive such high compliments from her…

He rubbed his chin.

Lin Yiyi stroked the other kitchenware that looked very comfortable to handle before she saw all the fresh groceries by the sink – there were beef, fish, shrimp, and some other side dishes and vegetables.

“Your family certainly know how to shop.”

Lu Xun had also seen these groceries by now…

Naturally, he didn’t buy those himself.

He turned and glanced at the nanny Xiao Qian, who was hiding outside the kitchen, and stealthily gave her a thumbs up.

Good job! You will get a bonus!

Aunt Qian didn’t expect a call from Mr. Lu today when he told her that her assignment of the day was to go buy the freshest vegetables and the best imported beef, and then…

Then she could take the rest of the day off!

Being complimented from afar, Aunt Qian clicked open the red packet that she has just received on WeChat and left happily.

Lu Xun had already taken off his suit jacket and rolled his sleeves up. “I want to make you a meal to thank you for all your help today.”

The truth was, Lin Yiyi wasn’t really much of a help today.

He said he wanted to get her stepdad a present and wanted her opinion, but the truth was he had already decided on a Japanese imported carbon-fiber fishing rod.

She knew nothing about these and, naturally, had no idea whether it was good or not.

But her stepdad’s hobby was fishing, so at least she knew he’d appreciate a fishing rod.

Lin Yiyi took a seat at a spot by the wet bar and saw Lu Xun looking through the cabinet. She had no idea what he was looking for…

The Lu’s kitchen was too big as was the cabinets. It took Lu Xun quite a while before he finally found a skillet from one of the higher-up cabinets.

Lin Yiyi: “……”

She was worried about the kitchen all of a sudden.

It was obvious that he didn’t have a lot of experience cooking.

Skillet is good for pan-frying, but if he wanted to stir-fry, he needed to use a wok.

Sure enough, Lu Xun washed out the pan in a very inexperienced manner and moved onto turning on the stove…

He poked around for a bit but nothing happened.

Never mind about fire; they didn’t even see a spark!

“You haven’t even turned the gas on yet, why do you think there’d be fire?” Lin Yiyi was utterly shocked. “And, you are about to start cooking, but you haven’t even rinsed out the vegetables yet!”

Exactly what was the point of you just washing out the pot?!

Lu Xun: “……”

He looked at her innocently.

That really wasn’t his fault…

This was the first time he had touched any kitchen appliances in his 30-plus years of life!

By now, Lin Yiyi could tell that this man couldn’t cook at all. She put her hand over her forehead and said, “Never mind. Let me do it.”

She was practically Mother Theresa. One sentence from her and the man was saved!

Lu Xun felt a little embarrassed. “I wanted to make you a meal to thank you. I even watched a few cooking videos!”

That was the truth.

He had been watching her streaming channel for a while now. He didn’t learn a whole lot, but the few dishes that she had made looked fairly easy, even for complete newbies.

He wasn’t a stupid person, but nobody said smart people necessarily have common sense!
