The Theft

Dick jumped into Star Labs, making sure not to make a loud noise and crept stealthily threw the eerie darkness. He shivered as he remembered Slade carving his symbol onto his back. Dick had given up hope days ago. He was Deathstroke's pet and that was all he would ever be. His wings had been clipped and he was held by a tight leash. But Bruce wasn't going to come, Slade convinced him of that. What made Dick feel worse was that he believed the man. "Remember Renegade, do not fail me. You know what will happen if you flee like a coward, right?"

"Yes Master," Dick said. No emotion in statement.

"Good, then you know what you are to retrieve for me," Deathstroke asked coldly.

"Yes Master," Dick said. Deathstroke made a noise in acknowledgement, "I am to retrieve the weapon, on the third floor for you so you may sell it to Bane. What is Bane giving you, master?"

"Smart that you should ask, but that, Apprentice, is none of your concern. Now go on and get it done with before they even wake up," Slade muttered as Renegade nodded and ran up and walked stealthily up the first couple of steps, but when he heard someone coming up he crept faster and made his way to the second floor. "Okay one more floor to go!" He stated to himself.

Mr and Mrs. Peterson had seen the bat vigilante and concern flooded through their gaze as the led the man inside. "So, what did you need to talk to us about? It isn't about our nephew is it?"

"Well, it is but don't worry he isn't in trouble. Bruce Wayne's ward, Dick Grayson has been kidnapped and I believe your nephew was at the scene of the crime. I brought this," he nodded to the flash drive in his hand. "Have you got a computer anywhere?"

Mr. Peterson nodded, bringing Batman into the other room and showing him to his small laptop. It wasn't like the
bat-computer, but it would do. Batman plugged the flash drive in and played the surveillance tape. He paused it when it came to the young boy's face.

"Oh my God! That's him. That's our Justin!" Mrs. Peterson exclaimed.

"Well then, he was at the crime so if you wouldn't mind I would like to ask you a few questions," Batman stated.

"Of course, Batman," Mr. Peterson nodded. He looked at Batman expectingly.

"Okay, when did you last hear from Justin. What was his last statement to you?" Batman asked.

"Well..."

Dick sighed as he came into the darkness of Slade's office. "Master. I have what you asked for."

"Well done," Slade nodded and walked up towards the boy. "You did well, Renegade. You retrieved the weapon and knocked out the guards with your bare hands." Slade held his hand out and Dick handed him the weapon. "You are dismissed for today. Tell Wintergreen, he can do anything in hell he wants to with you as long as you stay here."
