The Evaluation

"Robin! Go downtown! You'll catch the crooks there!" Batman said over the com.

"Affirmative! Right on their tail, Batman. No one can outrun Robin!" Robin said scaling the large building and shooting his grappling hook to the building to his side he flew towards it and before he could hit it shot the grappling hook again. This time he shot it closer to the robbers' car.

"Hey Jim, ain't that the Batman's brat?" Jorge asked looking out the sideview mirror.

"Damn right, it is! Hit the gas!" Jim said getting out a gun and firing at Robin. Robin skillfully dodged the bullets. "Ahh! I'm going to kill this freakin' kid!"

"You know, I may be young, but I am not deaf! Language!" Robin sang. The twelve year old jumped onto the truck. A bullet hit his shoulder. "Gahh! Didn't your mother ever teach you manners?" Robin asked flipping over the man and grabbing the gun out of the man's hand and breaking it.

"Shoot!" Jorge said. "Jim I think it is time we call it quits."

"Yeah! That would make my life way easier!" Robin said punching Jim's face.

"Ahh...but it wouldn't make my life half as fun as beating you to death!" Jim said leaping out of the car, causing it and  Jorge to crash.

"Wow! You would hurt your own partner just to kill me! I am flattered! Really I am, but-SMACK!-unfortunately I-KICK!-don't really feel-PUNCH!-the same way!" The crook fell to the ground. He didn't get back up. Robin took out some handcuffs and cuffed him to a pole.

Batman drove up in his Batmobile. "Not bad! You caught them, but one rookie mistake," Batman pointed to the man running away,"never let one escape!" Robin sighed. "Let's go home!" Batman told him. Robin nodded. Three years as Robin and I'm still making rookie mistakes? Robin sighed as he got into the Batmobile. "Don't be too hard on yourself, Dick! You did your best. That is all I ask!"

Robin shook is head. "What if my best still isn't good enough? Batman, I can't stand letting everyone down because I am not good enough!"

"Don't worry about it! We can talk tomorrow!" Batman said as they drove into the Bat-cave.

"Can Wally come over?" Dick asked taking his mask off and leaping out of the car and walking to the elevator.

"I guess! Go ahead. You need something to relieve your stress anyway," Bruce said taking down his cowl. "Just make sure that boy doesn't eat the whole fridge."

Dick did his signature laugh and nodded running to the elevator and pressing the button for it to go to the top floor. Maybe Bruce was right. But still, that had been his evaluation for Batman to know what Robin's strengths and weaknesses were. Wally was sure to cheer him up!

On the texts

Dick-Hey, Walls! Bats said yes!

Wallman-Seriously! What did you do to change his mind?

Dick-It's a family secret! Only Alfred and I know!

Wallman-Oh whatevs! Be right there!

Thirty seconds later Wally was at the door. "Hey dude!" He said. They greeted each other with a pat on the back.

"Hey, why don't you let me in on that family secret?" Wally pleaded.

Dick shook his head. He turned to the fridge. "Do you want to order pizza?"

"No need. Give me a twenty!" Wally said. Dick pulled a twenty dollar bill out of his pocket.

"Be right back!" Wally said and before Dick realized where he had gone, he was back. He handed an extra seven dollars and thirty-seven cents to him. "So...have you seen Roy lately?"

"No, he and Oliver have been pretty busy with their city," Dick said.

"Did Bats say whether you could come out off the house and hit some crooks?" Wally asked.

Bruce walked in. "No, and I shouldn't have to! Dick knows he can't go out of the house at night unless it is for patrolling and Wally, you being his best friend should not make me distrust you two and have to call Barry because you can't behave like you are two years older than Dick."

"Wow! Bats sure hates me!" Wally said taking out a sliver of pizza and taking a bite.

"Don't take it too personally Walls. He is just being uhh...very protective of me!" Dick said.

"But, Rob he's always protective of you! What he just said and did is completely different. I should probably go," Wally said. "Can I..uhh..."

"Have the rest of the pizza?" Dick said as if reading his best friends mind.

"Uhh...yeah!" Wally said.

"Take the whole box. I'm not that hungry anyways!" Dick handed the box to the fourteen year old.

"See you later, Dick!" Wally waved.

"See ya!" Dick waved his hand. He sighed and turned to go to his room. His evaluation had been so bad he didn't even think Batman should have him as a partner. Little did he know Batman hadn't been another man watching and evaluating him.

In the darkness a man watched Robin's fight with the crooks over and over again. "He is perfect! Robin will soon belong  to me!" The man said to himself.
