Memories

Sans pov

I've been living with Aizawa for a while, he's taught me a lot about this new world, but I've recently had more extreme nightmares more often. I guess I shouldn't be shocked, it's nothing I'm not used to... hehe... At the moment, I'm watching TV, it's kinda weird how many channels humans have. Back in the underground, I basically gave up on watching TV since it was always the same shows, if I missed one, I could just wait for the next reset. As an ad comes on, Aizawa walks in. "Sans, it's late. You should go to bed." He says, since I am a little tired, I agree and go to bed. Aizawa finished cleaning out the spare room yesterday, so now it's mine, I walk in a flop onto my bed, falling asleep almost instantly. I guess I was a little more tired than I thought?

In the 'dream'

-----------------------------------------------------------

Snowdin never changes, always snowing. Oh wait, is that a new snow lump? As I reach the edge of snowdin I see Papyrus and. . . the human. I try to run but trip, I glance down to my feet to see they are engulfed in the snow, I franticly try to free them, but it's no use. I look desperately back to the human to see them decapitate pap. I tried to yell, nothing... no sound came out. No, no, no, no! Papyrus no! "W- WELL, THAT'S NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. . . BUT. . . ST. . .STILL! I BELIEVE IN YOU! YOU CAN DO A LITTLE BETTER! EVEN IF YOU DON'T THINK SO! I. . . PROMISE. . ." Papyrus mutters as his head turns to dust and the human walks away. Suddenly my legs are freed from the snow, I run over and grab the only ruminants of pap, his scarf. I hug it close to my chest, tears fall down my boney cheeks. Suddenly I hear an oh-so-familiarly sickening voice echo from behind me.

"IT'S.ALL.YOUR.FAULT. " The sinister voice says, I turn around just as they slash a knife across my chest. As the light fades, I hear their demonic voice begin to laugh.

End of Nightmare

-----------------------------------------------------------

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH" I scream as I wake from my nightmare, my breaths are short and fast, my left eye is glowing bright, the pain in my soul grows worse by the second—Aizawa bursts into the room.

Aizawa pov

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH" I'm awoken by a scream coming from across the hall, I get out of bed and run into Sans' room. He's sitting on his bed, his knees are up against his chest, his breaths are short, tears are streaming down his cheeks, and his left eye is glowing a vibrant blue. I run up to him and try to calm him, nothing seems to be working. I've seen this before... He's having a panic attack, I remember something I leant a while ago and decided to give it a try.

"Sans, name five things you can see," I say, he looks at me and takes a shaky breath.

"m-my bed, the roof, my rugs, my shoes, and y-you. . ." He replies, he begins to calm down.

"four things you can hear." I continue.

"t-the car's driving past, the wind, my breathing, and my heartbeat." He says, calming more.

"Three things you can touch," I say.

"my rugs, my pillow, and my. . .scarf..." he says with a bit of sadness laced in his tone, I'll have to ask him about that tomorrow.

"two things you can taste." I say.

"ketchup and carrot." he says.

"one thing you can smell." I say.

"Salt." He says.

"Are you ok now?" I ask, he nods his head. The look on Sans's face is a broken look, in my line of work, I've seen this look time and time again but never on someone his age... It's concerning but to be honest, basically everything about this kid is concerning... I go to leave the room when I hear him whisper.

"P-Please don't leave me. . ." He whimpers, I turn to him he's looking down at the ground, I walk back into the room and sit next to his bed.

"I won't." I whisper, after a while, he falls asleep I follow soon after.

time skip (the next morning)

-----------------------------------------------------------

I wake up on the floor, get up and look at Sans, the memories of what happened last night blur together in my head. I'll have to ask him about that when he wakes up... I walk out the door, go to the kitchen and begin to make breakfast. Not much later, Sans gets up, he's acting like nothing happened? He sits at the table, I sit across from him and hand him some toast, he takes it, looks at it for a second as if trying to figure something out, then he simply opens his mouth and takes a bite.

"Sans." I say, he looks up at me and nods. "What did you dream about last night?" A slight look of worry crosses his face, but as soon as it's noticeable, it returns to his neutral look.

"nothing important, I think it was something to do with a killer clown or something." He says as he rests his hand on his head, he looks up as if he's trying to remember something.

"Sans, please tell me what your nightmare was about. . ." I plead.

"did you hear me wrong? i just said what it was about." Sans says, raising an eyebrow.

"Tell me the truth. What was your nightmare about." I say in a slightly sterner voice, Sans gives me a look of recognition as if this feeling were familiar to him.

"i am, seriously, you're just overreacting." Sans says as he takes another bite out of his toast

"Sans." I say. "You have to tell me what's wrong. You had a panic attack, that doesn't happen from any nightmare. I can help if you just tell me." I pled, the look of recognition grows sad, almost guilty. He sighs in defeat, seeming to understand he can't run from this.

"fine, if you really need to know, it was about my brother he was murdered." he says, his eyes going all black he looks down at the ground the face he's making is a mixture of anger, guilt and sorrow. Murdered? What has this kid been through? Questions flood my thoughts like large waves hitting the shoreline over and over again.

"What about your parents? Where are they?" I ask.

"i'm not sure, they left when i was young." he said, poor kid.

"I could try find them if you want?" I say.

"there's no point, i don't think... i know they won't come back. . . i don't need them anyway."He mutters.

"Alright, thank your. I know this is all new to you, but if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm right here." I reply. Sans gets up and walks to the couch, turns the TV on and begins to watch, while I sit at the table questioning many things about him. Questions I don't think he'll answer, at least... not willingly.
Sans was aware that it was Aizawa's job to find out as much as he could, he hated it, and it brought about a feeling of mistrust, but he had to act the part and remember that no matter how much the man interrogated him, he just had to hold strong.

Author note:
