Guilt

It's been a few days since the incident, and most of us are healed up enough to go back to school. Honestly, I really want to stay behind to make sure everyone's ok. As I pull my shoes on, I feel a heavy amount of guilt float above me like an invisible cloud, maybe I should visit Mirio and check in to see how he's dealing with all this. Especially the loss of his Quirk...

I flop onto my bed as I ponder my options, after a few minutes, I decide that I will go and see Mirio. I walk down the hall to Mirio's room, I bring my hand up to the door. Maybe I shouldn't, he might be angry at me, or maybe he's still asleep. No, I need to see him. Besides, it'll just be delaying the inevitable if I don't do it now.

*Knock, knock*

I open the door to the room, I expected to see Mirio staring out the window depressingly or something, but instead, I see him moving around on his bed, full of energy.

"Morning, Sans! Guess I'm stuck here another day to be monitored, too bad, I'm super energetic!" Mirio says with a smile on my face, after the small amount of shock passes, I let out a sigh of relief.

"morning, good to see you're full of energy." I say, walking over, a tired smile on my face. A slight amount of silence fills the room, with guilt pulling at my soul, I begin to speak. "i'm sorry that you lost your quirk, if i had just been a little faster, i would've..." I sigh, slightly drifting off, Mirio sits up and looks at me with a somewhat serious look on his face.

"I don't blame you for that, no one does, and you shouldn't blame yourself either." Mirio says.

"i know, but i should've taken the hit, i should've focused on the more important things instead of letting them get, the better of me. i could have, but i didn't, so if there is anyone to blame, it's me." I say as a lump forms in my nonexistent throat. I glare down at the ground.

"You did take the hit." Mirio says, I look up at him, slightly confused. "Not for me but for Sir. If you didn't take that hit, then he might've died." He says. "Even if your Quirk saved you from that same fate, that doesn't mean you didn't risk something. Don't think you did a bad job because of one simple mistake, instead, be proud. Be happy at the success and smile for those around you, we don't want them to lose hope, do we? If not for yourself, then for everyone around you!" Mirio says with a smile, I mirror his facial expression. "You did a great job! So keep going, Karmic!" Mirio says.

"yeah, you're right. guess i was overthinking things." I say. "i'll find a way to bring your quirk back, i promise." I say.

"There's no need for that, Eraser told me about Eri yesterday. Later, if Eri is able to use her Quirk properly, then I'll ask her to rewind me to when I still had a Quirk. Even if that doesn't work, I'll try a bunch of things to get back to normal." Mirio says.

"i'd be telling a fib-ula if i said i wasn't going to try get your quirk back, it might be faster. and even then, i'll do my best to help eri since i do have some experience with time-related power." I say, muttering the last bit. Mirio laughs at the pun, I guess now people might actually understand the skele-ton of jokes I make.

"Let's keep smiling together!" Mirio says, extending his fist, I bump mine into his. *Fist bump*

(Bah Lalala)

"it's good you see you're doing well, but i gotta go, don't want to keep the others waiting." I say.

"Good to see you too, Sans!" Mirio smiles as I walk to the door.

"see ya." I say, leaving the room, I walk back to my room, grab my stuff and take a shortcut down to the lobby, where I see no one. Guess they're still packing, I sit down and watch the tv. Seems like Overhauls transport was attacked, and a pro was killed. Midoriya shows up just in time to see the broadcast. Although I feel no pity for Overhaul, I feel bad for the pro. Midoriya goes off again, I think I heard him mention Mirio. I glance to my side and jump slightly when I notice Dadzawa standing behind me.

"i didn't see ya there, how are you feeling?" I ask, trying to make conversation.

"Average." Dadzawa mutters tiredly, looks like he wants a nap. Yet again, when does he not? "How are you?" He asks, I get a feeling there's a question he wants to ask, one that I don't want to answer.

"slightly tired but alive. or as alive as i can get for a skeleton." I say, grinning. Dadzawa looks to be considering something but shakes his head dismissively. The room is filled with silence. Eventually, Dadzawa leaves, saying he has some business to attend to, and I'm left waiting alone. I get up and go outside to get some fresh air. I close my eyes and shift to Blitz's sight, I didn't tell anyone, but I didn't get to take Blitz back from Eri. Him being smart, edged away when her quirk activated but went straight back to her once Dadzawa deactivated it. So now he's keeping a watchful eye on her. When Dadzawa finds out he's still there, he'll kill me. Eri's condition hasn't seemed to change...

"Sans!" Kirishima says as he walks out of the hospital, his loud voice breaking my concertation. "How are your injuries?" Kirishima asks worriedly, I smile lazily at him.

"all good, i wasn't that beat up. how about you?" I ask.

"It wasn't too bad, not enough to keep me behind!" He says, I nod. After a few more minutes, we're joined by Midoriya.

"Izuku Midoriya, Eijiro Kirishima, Sans Gaster. Sorry to bother you right after your discharge, but we'd like you to come with us to the station to answer some questions about the Shie Hassaikai incident." Says a policeman, he's saluting us.

"Yes, sir." Kirishima says.

"alright." I say.

"I understand." Midoriya says, we squeeze into the police car and are taken to the police station. Guess we won't be back at school for even longer.

The inquiry papers kept coming, one after another. Although it wasn't even close to how much paperwork I had to do while working in the lab, so I sped through it. I had to wait for the others, when we got back to the dorms, it was already dark.

"Deku! Kirishima! Sans!" I hear the familiar voice of Uraraka yell, I turn to see her and Tsu walking up to us.

"Uraraka, Tsu!" Kirishima says.

"Did you two just get back, too?" Midoriya asks.

"Yeah." Uraraka says.

"There was lots of paperwork to do at Ryukyu's office." Tsu says.

"We had to do a bunch, too." Kirishima groans.

"It feels... like we haven't been back in a long time." Uraraka says as we turn to the dorms.

"no kidding, i can't wait to see my room again." I say, earning a few chuckles.

"Let's go." Kirishima says, we all walk up the steps and enter the dorms.
