My mom and I were in for a huge shock as we walked out of our brunch spot to see a bunch of paparazzi photographing us. We have successfully been able to avoid them when we're out together so this is a first for us.

The only time we get paparazzi is when we're out with my dad because everybody wants a glimpse of Dwayne Johnson. He will usually stay out and talk to the fans while we make our way inside.

"This is too much." My mom says as she slips her arm into mine. "God, where's your father when you need him?"

"I told you that we need to have security with us." I hold onto her as we make our way over to the car. I help my mom into the car first before I make my way over to the drivers side.

"How long have you been dating Jordan Calloway?" A paparazzo asks and I fake a smile.

"Long enough."

"How does it feel to be Hollywood's newest IT girl?"

I lift my sunglasses, "When Vogue comes calling, I'll let you know."

"You're a natural." My mom tells me as I get in the car.

"Let's swap." I tell and since the windows are tinted, we quickly swap seats while laughing like little girls.

"You always know how to make me laugh." My mom giggles as she starts the car up. "Put your seatbelt."

"Yes mom." I salute her before putting it on and she starts driving. "How does it feel to be back in the spotlight?"

"It feels weird but it's nice to have you be apart of my journey just like I'm apart of yours." I smile at her words. "When I first started dating your dad and he became this big star, I loved being out there in the limelight. I thought the fame would die down after sometime but it never did, he only grew bigger and it was overwhelming. People would show up at our house wanting to see your dad, I was being followed and it just became too much."

"Mmm." I rub my lips together.

"We had media but you only saw the paparazzi pictures in newspapers and magazine. There was no internet or any of these social media sites where you can virtually see everything." She clears her throat. "If people wanted to see you in real life, they would buy tickets to events or hang around the celeb hot spots. The fans today are keyboard warriors but back then you would have people who would follow you everywhere and send mail to your home."

"Wow."

"After we had you the obsession that the public had with our family was too much and I had to think about your safety. I didn't want these people following you around school or at the park so I took a step back and I'm happy that I did."

"You have always been my momma bear." I smile at her and she glances over at me with a smile. "I'm happy that you did what you thought was best and hopefully things will be different this time around."

"Hopefully." She smiles and I secretly take a picture of her because she's a very beautiful woman. "I'm so proud of everything that you're doing. I was worried at first but seeing the way you have been reacting to all this newfound fame just makes me really happy."

"Well I have two amazing people who keep me grounded." I kiss her cheek. "The shopping trip is on me so get what you like and don't worry about the bill."

"Oh really?" My mom does a little shoulder dance. "You're a lot nicer than your father."

"I'm capping you at ten thousand." We both laugh. "I'm joking, I finally have the money to spend lavishly on my mother so spend I shall."

Since we began press for To the Moon and Back, I have not seen any of my friends because we have been touring around. Now that we're back in the west coast, I decided to see some of my favorite girls since I miss them.

"Kisses." Amber Murphy lifts her glass up and we clink our glasses together.

"Kisses." I repeat before we lean in and lightly peck eachother's lips. "Your lips taste nice, I need to know that lip combo."

"Baby girl, I will buy it for you." She winks at me and I smile before taking a small sip of my champagne.

"God, I haven't had a drink in a while now." I take another sip of my drink. "Sober living is not for me."

"Bitch that's a lie." Amber laughs, "Whenever we go out, you're always the sober momma bear watching out for the frogs and witches."

"Somebody has to keep us safe."

"BABY GIRL!" Amber and I stand up as Selene Mitchell makes her way over to us with her sister Celeste.

"WE GOT SHOTS, BITCHES!" Celeste holds up the tray of drinks and my eyes widen in surprise as I take in the amount of shots. "We're going to do ten each."

Celeste sets the tray down on the table and we spend the next few minutes greeting eachother. Selene pulls up her phone and next thing we know, we're taking a bunch of pictures together.

"I'm so fucking proud of you." Selene kisses my cheek. "I'm heading to the premiere tomorrow and I can't wait to watch the movie."

"Amerie is a movie star." Celeste grabs a shot and we all do the first one. "Half of the shots are tequila and the rest is white rum so it will be like playing Russian roulette."

"I'm down for it." Amber beams as she moves her shoulders to the beat of the song.

"Amber has killed it Jennifer's Body, Amerie has killed it with To the Moon and back." Amerie holds another shot in her hands. "Celeste is killing it her podcast and I'm killing it with my music. Let's toast to be working ass women who know how to make their coin while looking fine as fuck."

I grab a shot and we clink our glasses together before downing the shot. I pull a face as I realise that I just had white rum which is cool but this rum has a slow burn that will get you drunk without you realising it.

"To being the top bitches."
