Chapter 12

AmerieJohnson: I know that my marriage came as a surprise but I have been in a relationship with Jordan for over five years. Our relationship was never really kept a secret but we were not rushing to tell the world about it.

The wedding dresses that I wore were designed by moi and I hope to one day start designing bridal gowns/pieces for all my beautiful people out there.

My parents joining the honeymoon made it even more memorable as crazy as it sounds. Not many people would be happy with their mom and dad joining their honeymoon but we have such a good relationship that it helped us let loose and really enjoy our time together.

My dad was setting up activities for us to do which was really sweet of him as it meant that I didn't have to go on my phone to find us things to do. Having my parents didn't mean that we didn't get to spend time alone but it meant that we started and ended our day together as family.

Jordan's parents flew out for the final night so we could have a big dinner on the beach.

"This father/daughter duo have taken the world by a storm with their no shit taking personalities and charismatic attitude to life." I fight back a laugh at the introduction. "Please give a warm welcome to Amerie and Dwayne Johnson."

We walk onto the stage hand in hand to the sounds of the cheering audience who only get louder as we look in their direction. My father lets go of my hand once we reach the center of the stage and he takes a step back to allow me to have my moment which I am forever grateful for.

"Like father, like daughter." The host states after we have greeted him and taken our seats. "You guys really look alike."

"I should hope so, I had to carry her for nine months." My dad jokes which makes the audience laugh. "I'm just kidding."

"Congratulations for the success of To the Moon and Back." I smile as the audience applaud us. "I'm not saying this because you're my guests but the movie was without a doubt, my favorite movie of the year."

"It should be your favorite movie of the decade." I say with a laugh.

"Why the decade?" My dad rests his arm behind my seat, "It should have been your favorite movie of the century."

"Why do you always have to one up?"

I purse my lips at my father as the audience laugh at our interaction.

"You guys are hilarious." The interviewer laughs. "The movie ended with a slight cliff hanger so we're all wondering if there will be a sequel."

"Without spoiling the movie for the losers who haven't watched." I wink at the camera. "The movie centers around the relationship between a father and a daughter during the end of times. I would like to believe that the story was completed so if there were to be a sequel, it would probably center around a different family."

The audience react to my words and all I can do is shrug my shoulders.

"That's such a shame."

"I think it's a blessing in the sense that I was given an opportunity to work alongside my daughter and create something so magical. The opportunity to create this movie was a true blessing but passing the torch is an even greater one and I would hate for us to become another statistic." My dad adds and I nod my head in agreement. "The movie was great the first time around so why ruin it by adding another one."

The interviewer perks up, "Could we potentially see another collaboration from you two?"

"Hell no." The audience laugh as we both answer the question simultaneously. "Fat chance."

"If I wanted to work with a diva then I'd call my wife."

My jaw drops, "Mom is going to kick your ass."

"Yes, she is." He cringes as everyone laughs. "If you don't hear from me on instagram tonight then my body can be found under the rose garden in our backyard."

We all laugh at his words.

"I've said this before and I will say it again." My dad wraps his arm around me. "This woman right here is one of the most talented women that I know and it would be an absolute privilege to work alongside her. Amerie is my favorite co-star by far and if I could work on every movie going forward with my daughter then I would."

"Don't make me cry." I laugh while fanning my face as I feel the tears well up. "My dad is the definition of a hustler and getting to this stage of his career was not an easy one. I'm grateful that I get to be apart of that history and that legacy that he is building in one way or the other. I would love to work with him again."

Prior to going on my honeymoon, I had sent out a few audition tapes to play lead in female led action movies. There were talks of a female James Bond movie happening with Charlize Theron set to star in it so I sent my tapes out in hopes that I would come back to some good news.

"I received some news when you were on your honeymoon." My dad tells me as we watch people get out of their vehicles to walk the white carpet. "News will be breaking in a matter of days so I wanted to tell you..."

"What is it?"

"I know that you auditioned for a bunch of stuff prior to the wedding but unfortunately you were not considered for the female James Bond movie." My face falls at his words. "They went with Charlize Theron."

"She's a great actress." I look away momentarily as I process the rejection.

"A movie titled The Auditor has been in development for a short while and they have found their lead." He chuckles at the way my eyes light up. "The Auditor is based on a woman who worked for the CIA as the person who basically did the clean up job and tied up the loose ends. I won't spill the tea now but there is a script waiting in my office."

"Wow." I let out a loud squeal before bursting into tears at the revelation that I got something on my own. This will be my first solo project and it's something to be joyous about as it's a project that I actually auditioned for rather than my father recommending me for the role.

"Your bikini photos sold them." My dad jokes as I look at him while laughing and that's when I realise that he is filming me. "Congratulations sweetheart."

I am barely able to get any words out to express how I feel as the door opens, thrusting us back into the flashing lights. My game face returns the moment that my face is shown to the world and I wink at a random person as security helps me out of the car.

"OH MY GOD, IT'S AMERIE!"

"There's my girl." My dad gives my waist a squeeze as we start walking down the red carpet.

My dad is not one to attend music events so I was pretty surprised when he expressed interest in attending. I thought that maybe he wanted to catch a little sneak peek of Selene since she's obviously a Goddess but I realised that it has to do with me being married.

He thinks that our relationship will change now that I'm married and it will probably change as time goes on but I have no intention of ending our relationship. My dad is my world and I'm not giving up what we have because of certain circumstances and Jordan understands that.

"What I hate about these events is that people wear nothing and if I look in the wrong direction, I'm screwed." I laugh at his words because they hold a ring of truth. "And you know the way the media likes to distort things. I'll glance over to my left and it'll be in the tabloids that I was staring Ariana Grande down like a lion hunting down a gazelle."

I can't help but laugh at his words which makes the photographers go crazy. We're queuing up for a spot on the carpet yet all the eyes and attention are on us which is saying a lot.

"Storm is going to go crazy once he realises that you're here."

My dad chuckles, "I love that guy."

"He loves you too." I give my dad a small nudge.

"True story, WWE wanted to do a storyline about Storm being my long lost son." My eyes widen in surprise at my father's words. "He had done the Heelz movie so they were thinking that we could bring the movie to life."

"That would have been everything."

My dad gives me a look, "You would be the only reason why I would return to WWE."

We spend a few more minutes waiting before we are given an opportunity to pose on the red carpet infront of twenty odd photographers. Attending red carpet events can be pretty overwhelming as there is so much going on at once but I strangely feel at home.

I'm so used to doing photoshoots for my clothing brand and social media pages that being in front of the camera comes easy to me. My only issue is that you don't know the way your image will be shared or how the photographer is interpreting you through their lens.

"She's my little disco ball." My dad tells one of the photographers.

I snort, "I think you're the disco ball."

"My daughter may have a big ass head but damn, she knows how to beat that face of hers." I playfully roll my eyes as he draws attention to my face. "Like a work of art minus the filter."

"Dad."
