Chapter 30

Yes I know this update is crazy early but I am on a roll with these chapters :P

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do not own the characters of TV show teen wolf such as Scott, Derek, Allison, Stiles, and so on. I do not own the show teen wolf. I do not own the ideas of the TV show Teen Wolf. (Though I wish I could be such an amazing writer as the writer of Teen Wolf!!!) I do own my characters such as Emily and her friend Stephanie because I created the two girls.

Chapter 30:

--Emily’s POV:

Tonight was Scott and Stiles’ first game and I could tell they were both extremely nervous about it. We all walked out of the school talking about the much-anticipated game.

Today had been really busy at school and I was happy to be done for the day. Not to mention I was supposed to be meeting Derek right after school. He had told me to wait outside by the fields because he was more then likely going to be late picking me up. I had to lie to the boys and tell them that Stephanie was picking me up and we were having a girl’s day until the game tonight. Allison, Stephanie, a few other girls, and I were going to the game together though. They didn’t ask questions seeing that it was girl time. They wanted nothing to do with it.

I watched Scott and Stiles walk out towards the parking lot but not without them both telling me goodbye. I had asked what they were going to do until the game but both of them had avoided the question saying it was guy’s stuff. I knew they were up to no good but I didn’t ask what.

As soon as they rounded the corner and disappeared from sight I made a b-line for the fields.

I didn’t have to sit there for long before a sleek, black Camaro came barreling around the corner and into the parking lot. I rolled my eyes at Derek. He really did abuse his privilege of having such a fast car.

I didn’t give him enough time to get out before I slipped into the passenger seat.

“In a rush to get out of here?” He chuckled.

“Maybe.” I sighed.

“Rough day?”

“No. I just couldn’t wait to get out of there.”

Derek had some how agreed to take me to some of the land surrounding his old home. He was hesitant at first but after I gave him the puppy dog eyes, he gave in.

Derek sped around the corner out of the parking lot, as I held on tight to the handles on the doors.

“You ok?” He said while motioning to my white knuckles.

“Yes. Just holding on to the ‘oh shit’ handles.”

“The what?”

“My mom calls the handles on the side of the doors ‘oh shit handles’ because when my brother and I were first learning how to drive she would hold on for dear life.”

Derek’s laugh filled the car. “Nice.”

I could feel the car slowing down to the speed limit. He must have decided it was probably a good idea not to give me a heart attack.

“Better?”

“Much better.” I giggled.

It wasn’t long before we were driving through the forest. Derek stopped as we approached a gate to what used to his property. The car engine died as Derek removed the keys from the ignition.

We both got out and I had already noticed Derek’s change in attitude as we approached the gate. Derek had his hands in his jacket pockets so I slipped my arm in-between his arm and his body so our elbows were locked. He looked down at me and I smiled at him reassuringly. He didn’t remove himself from me and to my excitement he pulled me closer to his side.

We walked for a little into the forest. Derek talked about his family and even told me about some of his memories here. I found myself smiling at some of his stories. His family must have been so close.

Before I knew it, we had been walking for about an hour. I took another step and my legs protested. I carefully removed my arm from Derek’s and stopped, looking around.

“Need a break?” He said while flashing his bright smile.

“Yeah. Sorry.” I said taking a deep breath. “These shoes aren’t the best to walk around this much in.”

“No worries.” He said. “The river bank is just up over the hill, we can rest there.”

Looking up the rather large hill, I sighed. Not that I was lazy or anything, my feet were just killing me. Before I was able to make my way up the hill by myself, I let out a squeal as I was whisked off my feet and found myself on his back. He began carrying me piggyback style up the hill and I could feel my face burning. I couldn’t help but melt into him as he walked with ease. The extra weight didn’t slow him down at all.

When we made our way to the top Derek bent down so I could jump down.

“Thanks.” I said sheepishly.

Derek took a few more steps down the riverbank and that’s when I realized what was in front of us. A river ran peacefully in front of us. It was so crystal clear that you could see the small river pebbles rolling around at the bottom. I couldn’t help but smile at the beautiful scene in front of me. The trees ran parallel with the river for what seemed like for mile in either direction.

I looked behind me and realized Derek was now sitting on the ground with his legs stretched out and his arms holding him up from behind. He was looking right at me and I had to look away before another blush threatened to break the surface.

I took a seat next to him and we sat in a comfortable silence admiring the beauty before us. After a few seconds leaves rustled next to me as Derek lay down with his arms crossed underneath his head. His eyes closed and I was pretty sure this was the most relaxed I had seen him.

I smiled and closed my eyes, taking in the sounds around us. I could definitely get used to this. Without realizing it, i began humming a lullaby. It was the same song that my mother taught and sung to me since I was young.

It felt like ages before Derek suddenly sat up, pulling me out of my own little world. He looked behind us nervously.

“Derek what’s wrong?” I asked worried that whatever had showed up at his old house had returned.

“I heard something.” He said while getting up abruptly.

Before I could stand he held his hand out to me motioning for me to stop. “Stay here.”

I plopped back down and nodded my head.

Derek made his way up the riverbank silently before disappearing over the edge.

I sat there in silence not sure if I should follow or not. The trees were no longer swaying in the wind and if it wasn’t for the river flowing in front of me, it would have been completely silent outside.

My ears perked up as I heard dogs barking and men yelling on the opposite side of the hill behind me. I immediately jumped up to see what was going on.

Reaching the top of the riverbank I was just in time to see Derek being put in handcuffs. Four officers who had dogs surrounded him. I gasped loudly which made all five of the men’s head snap in my direction.

“Emily?” I heard the one cop, who was holding Derek by his wrists, yell at me.

That’s when I realized who it was. Officer Stilinski, Stiles’ dad, stood there with his eyes wide. I made my way down the hill as fast as I could.

“What’s going on?” I said on the verge of tears.

“Emily, what the hell are you doing here?”

“What’s going on?” I said pleadingly while looking at Derek.

“You know him?” Mr. Stilinski asked. He was beyond confused now.

I looked at Derek for answers but Derek couldn’t say anything.

Mr. Stilinski stepped in between us so I could no longer see Derek.

“Get him out of here.” He told one of the officers. He took me by the shoulders and led me away from the scene unfolding. “Look Emily. This man is being convicted of murder. You need to tell me everything you know and why you are with him right now.” He said as he put his hand on my shoulder.

I couldn’t hold the tears anymore. I watched as Mr. Stilinski’s face morphed from a serious one into a sympathetic one. “Look, I know you don’t have anything to do with any of this. I just need to make sure you aren’t hurt ok? You just scared me all right? You are like my daughter.”

I nodded my head, “Derek would never do anything like that.” I felt myself saying.

“Em. We found the second half of the body.”

“So? What does that have to do with him?”

“We found it on his property.”

I felt my heart sink. It felt like I was going to pass out but I refused to believe that Derek had been the murderer. Mr. Stilinski must have realized I was feeling a little faint because he grabbed my arm and helped me stand.

“John!” He called over to one of the officers standing against the car that held Derek.

He was a younger officer; dressed in normal attire, he had almost bleach blonde hair, and was obviously a rookie. He gave me a cocky grin, which I happily ignored.

“Yes sir?” He said while eyeing me up and down.

“Please take Miss. McCall home.” He said then turned to me. “I will be by later to speak with you, ok?”

I nodded my head as John took me silently to his car and drove me home.

--Scott’s POV:

We pulled up in Stiles jeep just in time to see a cop car driving away with Derek inside it.

“Operation get Derek arrested, success.” Stiles said in a monotone while smiling.

Our plan had worked. When I had paid Derek a visit I had smelled something. Something that was so familiar. It turned out to be the smell of the second half of the body I had run into. I told Stiles about it and we were able to find the other half buried near Derek’s old house, which in return got Derek arrested, which in return saved my ass, which in return was going to let me play the game tonight.

“So looks like you will be playing tonight.” Stiles said while getting out of the jeep.

“Yes.” I said while taking in a huge breath of air.

-Emily’s POV:

“See you later ma’am.” The officer said while flashing me another one of his cheesy smiles.

I didn’t bother answering as I shut the front door in his face. He had flirted with me the entire ride home and quite frankly I wanted nothing to do with the creep. He was creeping me out the whole ride home and I wasn’t in the mood. I ran up stairs straight to my room and fell onto my bed.

Not a single tear left my eyes anymore as I lay there like a robot. I couldn’t even process what had just happened. I stuffed my face into my pillows trying to put my world back together.

I was nervous that Mr. Stilinski was going to come by and talk to me later. I wasn’t sure I wanted to hear what he had to say about Derek. I felt betrayed but deep down I knew Derek wouldn’t do something like that. At least I could only hope. I didn’t want to jump to any conclusions just yet.

*****

A knock on my bedroom door shook me from my sleep. I looked up groggily from my pillow. I must have fallen asleep earlier. In my doorway stood my very freaked out mom and Sheriff Stilinski.

Both smiled wearily as I sat up. Mr. Stilinski walked in but frowned when my mother followed behind.

She frowned obviously getting the message, “Il leave you two.” My mother said as she left down the hallway.

He sighed while taking my desk chair and rolling it towards me and taking a seat.

I sat up more and held my knees against my chest.

“Don’t worry, I haven’t told your mom anything yet.”

“Wait, why not? I would of thought she would have been the first person you told.”

“Well I didn’t think it was necessary yet. I just got a call that the results came back on the body.”

I leaned in closer, not sure if I wanted to hear what was next.

“The girl was killed by animal. Derek, who is obviously not an animal, was released.”

I felt like a huge weight lifted off my chest. “What?” I half yelled.

“Yes, but that’s not why I am here. Emily. I need you to tell me everything ok?” He said in a gentle tone.

I sank back down. There was no way out of this. I had to tell him about him and I.

Thirty minuets later I had told him the whole story. But of course I left the parts out where I had spent the night at his hotel slash apartment and other stuff like that. He was furious with Stiles and Scott for locking me up in the jeep as well. I snickered knowing they were in deep crap.

“Emily. You know that’s dangerous trusting a stranger so easily.”

“I know.” I replied.

“Please just promise me you won’t do something so stupid again.”

I chuckled, “I promise.”

“Well it is getting late. Tell Scott congratulations on his game tonight.”

My eyes widened, crap I had slept though the entire night. I shook my head realizing it was already to late to do anything about it now.

Sheriff Stilinski laughed and rubbed my head, messing my hair up in the process. “Be safe Em. Keep Stiles and your brother in line.”

And with that he left. I heard my mom bombard him with questions downstairs. After a while I heard the front door open and he was gone.

I fell down on my bed and took a deep breath. My thoughts were still on Derek and as if on cue my phone buzzed on my dresser.

I looked down at my phone and smiled. It was Derek calling. I sat there smiling as he apologized for everything that had happened and tried to explain but I didn’t care what he had to say. I was just glad my fears weren’t true. I knew Derek would never do anything like that.

“Derek stop.” I interrupted him.

The phone went silent as he took in my words.

“You don’t have to apologize.” I chuckled. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”

The other line was quiet for a few seconds before he spoke.

“Ok. Sorry.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at him.

“Il see you tomorrow then?”

“Yes.” He said all to quickly, as if he was desperate.

“You don’t have to do anything to make up for today Derek.” I laughed.

“To late. Good night Em.” And with that the line cut off.

I shook my head as a smile slowly formed on my lips. Laying down I rested my head on my pillow while looking out my window into the darkness.

“Good night.” I whispered.
