I do not own the characters of TV show teen wolf such as Scott, Derek, Allison, Stiles, and so on. I do not own the show teen wolf. I do not own the ideas of the TV show Teen Wolf. (Though I wish I could be such an amazing writer as the writer of Teen Wolf!!!) I do own my characters such as Emily and her friend Stephanie because I created the two girls.

Chapter 25:

--Emily’s POV:

I slid back into the passenger seat of Derek's car with my new pair of clothes in my arms. I was still in my workout clothes so I had asked Derek earlier if we could stop by my house so I could change.

My plan was to take a quick shower and change at my house but mom was home so I had to improvise. I didn’t want her keeping me home tonight because of the curfew so i had to be sneaky.

Derek gave me a questioning look as he noticed the clothes in my arms so I had to explain.

“My mom was home so I had to grab my stuff quickly. Can I maybe change at your place?”

He chuckled and nodded his head as he put his car into drive, making the engine come to life. The steady hum of the engine was soothing as we drove away from my home down the old familiar road.

The car ride was silent for a few minuets but my anxiety was starting to get the best of me. It was almost like you could feel the tension in the air.

I wanted to ask about his sister and everything else that I thought he might know. I knew that he could feel my anxiousness and wanted to say something.

“Derek?”

“Hm?” He asked a little to quickly. He must of already prepared for me to start asking questions and was just waiting for me to start the conversation.

Ok. Well here goes the first question.

“Who were those men that stopped us and what did they want?”

Derek sat there looking like he was deep in thought.

“You don’t have to tell me everything but I at least want an idea of what’s going on.” I added. “Are you in trouble with them or something?”

“Yes.” He said.

“Like drugs or something crazy like that?”

“No.”

“So why are they chasing you?” I questioned.

Derek glanced over at me with a pained look on his face like he either didn’t want to say or he didn't know how to say it.

“Ok. Ok.” I said putting my hands up in defense. “So, am I in any danger being around you?”

Derek chuckled and shook his head.

“Well, will I ever know what they really want from you?”

“Probably.” He said.

“Ok.” I said slumping down in my seat while folding my arms across my chest. It was getting annoying with his one-word answers.

I sighed, not exactly satisfied with the answer I got but at least I got something out of him.

Now. On to the next question.

“You said you were here to see your sister?”

“Yes.” He replied wrapping his fingers tighter around the steering wheel.

“So?” I asked trying to get more than one word answers out of him.

He didn’t answer as he kept his eyes on the road. The sun was beginning to set over the horizon, turning the sky a beautiful red. By the time we got where ever we were going it would be dark outside.

I let out a deep breath and turned to face him in my seat. This was going to be harder than I thought to get him to talk.

Derek glanced over at me with an unreadable expression planted on his face then returned his eyes to the road.

“So, when do I get to meet her?” I said playfully trying to lighten the mood.

Derek’s expression grew harder as he pulled the car over quickly.

“Derek?”

He shut off the engine and everything went quiet, as he looked me directly in the eyes. I watched him carefully as he didn’t move a muscle for a few seconds. There looked like there was a battle going on in those pools of bright green in his eyes.

Without warning he swung open his door and got out. I followed right after him and met him at the front of his car. That’s when I noticed we were in a parking lot near an old hotel building.

He sat on the hood of his car with one of his hands covering his mouth. He looked like he was trying to sort through his thoughts and find the right words to say.

“Derek? What happened to her?”

Something obviously really bad must have happened and before I could say anything he spoke.

“The first body they found in the forest,"  Derek said under his breath, "was my sister.”

My hands smashed into my mouth in shock as I took a step back. His stern eyes immediately filled with pain and I couldn’t help the tears that fell from my eyes. I felt absolutely horrible for saying anything in the first place.

“Derek. I am so sorry. I had no idea” I whispered through my fingers that still covered my mouth. The tears now flowed freely over my cheeks as I watched Derek not sure what else to say.

Derek just sat there watching the ground for a few seconds before looking up at me. He reached out his hand towards my face and with the back of his hand, wiped a tear that fell from my cheek.

I immediately felt selfish for crying in front of him. His sister had been murdered and here he was wiping away my tears and taking care of me. Anger boiled up inside me as I took a step closer to him.

Before I could apologize for my childish actions he stopped me.

“Its ok.” He said in a hoarse tone accompanied by a weak smile.

“But.”

“No buts.” He said growing serious again.

“Are you ok?” I asked moving a little closer to him again seeing that he was visibly upset.

“Yes.” He replied but I didn’t believe him.

“No more questions for tonight.” I whispered while looking at the ground. I didnt want him to reveal any other horrible secrets for now. He would tell me everything when the time was right.

“Agreed.” He replied as he leaned away from his car so he was now inches from me.

I felt like I was going to scream with the amount of distance in between us. I felt like I needed to be in his arms or be with him right now to comfort him.

His gaze wondered to the sky after a little bit where the moon shone bright above us. I watched as the moons light casted a beautiful shadow across his stern face.

“It’s a full moon tonight? I could have sworn it was tomorrow night.” I said, not intending for him to answer.

He nodded his head and slipped his hand into mine. I looked down at our hands that were now intertwined confused at his sudden move. He watched me carefully like he was in deep thought. I could feel his eyes burning into mine as we stared at one another. I could see both our breaths in the cold air now. The darker it got in Beacon Hills, the colder it got. With the clothes I was wearing my skin was almost completely exposed to the elements. I shiver ran down my spine and I knew Derek could see me visibly shaking now.

“Come on. Lets get you inside.” He said in a low voice. I nodded and he began to lead me towards the old hotel building.

“Is this where you are staying?” I asked as he led me up the stairs that led to what I guessed was his room.

It never hit me until now that he didn’t have anywhere to stay so he must be staying at this old hotel complex for now. I felt bad that he had to stay here. I wouldn’t want to stay in an old place like this.

The flooring creaked as we walked along the balcony that had all the doors that led to the rooms.

“Yes. I rented it out for a few days but I might be staying longer then I originally thought.” He  while answered turning towards me and giving me another weak smile. He reached in his pocket and pulled out the keys that I assumed were the keys to the room.

“I’m sorry you are having to stay longer because of your…” Before I could say your sister he interrupted me.

“Don’t be sorry. I would bring her back if I could but I cant. We were close when we used to live here but after the house burned down we lost connections. Not that that helps her being gone now.” Each word that came out of his mouth dripped with sadness and anger as he turned the door

I squeezed his hand and followed him through the door deciding it was a good idea not to bring up his sister anymore. I couldn’t imagine losing a sibling though. I don’t know what I would do if I lost Scott or Stiles.

The room was a lot larger than I expected. It was nothing compared to how the condition if the outside of the building. It was decorated with new furnishings but still had that hotel feeling to it.

I glanced over at Derek as he took off his jacket and hung it on the back of one of the chairs. He was wearing a tighter white t-shirt that showed off all his muscles and dark jeans that fit him perfectly. I felt myself staring so I distracted myself with something else.

I looked around the room some more and began to notice more things. There was a small kitchen to my left and a bathroom to right of it. A large couch sat against the wall straight across from me with a medium size TV in front of it. There was a small entryway on the opposite side of the room that I figured led to Derek’s bedroom.

“This is more like an apartment then a hotel room.” I said while turning back to Derek who was making his way to the kitchen. He seemed more relaxed now, which in return made me feel a lot better knowing he was ok.

He chuckled and opened the fridge.

“Yeah. It’s pretty nice. Do you want anything to eat or drink?”

“Can I have a water?”

He pulled out a water and shut the fridge. He made his way over to me and handed me the water.

“Thanks.” I smiled sweetly.

I took a seat on the couch while Derek made his way back to the kitchen.

“You hungry?”

As if on cue my stomach growled loudly. A laugh erupted from the kitchen and all I could do was sit there and drown in my embarrassment.

“Il take that as a yes.” He chuckled.

I heard the fridge open again followed by various other noises such as the microwave door opening and starting up. After a few minuets Derek came around the corner with a bowl in one hand and a glass of water in the other. He held the middle of the spoon with his mouth and all I could think about was how sexy he looked just then. I looked away trying to not make it obvious. Wow, Em. Get those thoughts out of your mind.

He seemed oblivious to my thoughts as he placed the bowl in front of me on the coffee table and then the spoon next to it. I looked down to see a steaming bowl of soup before me.

Derek stood there for a second scratching the back of his head.

“Sorry. I don’t have much to eat here. I haven’t had time to go to the store.”

“No. No. This is perfect.” I said while smiling at him.

As I picked up the spoon Derek's hand shot to mine, pushed my hand away.

“Its to hot still.” He said while giving me a smirk as I silently thanked him.

He took the seat next to me and reached for the remote. He leaned back in on the couch and stretched his free arm over the backside of the couch behind me.

I smiled at him. I was thankful that he was more calm now but it wouldn't last for long. The familiar buzz of the news immediately rang in my ears and to my horror it was about the recent murders. I looked over just in time to see Derek tense up. The news reporter talked about the investigation but I wasn’t listening. I was watching Derek hoping and praying he would just change the channel but he never did. His eyes looked like they were glazed over and it was like he wasnt even listening to a single thing the lady was saying on the TV. He was trying to block it out.

After a while, I had had enough. I set my spoon down and then leaned over towards Derek. I reached out towards his hand that held the remote and gently placed my hand over both the remote and his still hand. Derek’s head snapped towards me, like he had completely forgotten I was there. I carefully wrapped my fingers around the remote and pulled ever so slightly. It would have been so much easier if his eyes weren’t burning holes into my soul. I could feel my face heating me up as I looked back a him. I couldn’t read the expression on his face as his fingers slowly released the remote from his grasp. I immediately changed the channel and took a deep breath.

Before I could move anywhere, his hand shot out and grabbed my wrist. With out any warning he jumped over and pinned me against the couch, hovering over me.
