Chapter 29: Just bring me home

Before you read: I just wanted to explain some things as some of you didn't really understand what I was saying. First, I will NOT stop uploading on Wattpad. If nothing is wrong with Wattpad a full version of chapter 28 is uploaded. It literally says 'Chapter 28 (full chapter)'. I will keep uploading here. It's just if you want to read ahead you can become my Patreon and see the future chapters ahead. You don't HAVE to become a Patreon, it's up to you. But I would really appreciate it as I put a lot of time into my stories. Again, I won't hold it against you. I don't have money to read all the things I want and have to make choices too.

Second, because I want to keep my Patreon up to date I will upload more frequently and not be like uploading a couple of chapters and then be gone for months. I think I will upload every Wednesday and Friday for this book until it's finished.

Derek p.o.v

Driving through the neighborhood brought back childhood memories. I grew up in a neighborhood like this. It wasn't easy to see. You could feel and see the hardships of the people that were living here.

We had just arrived at the house Rose was supposed to be at. Excitement and nerves coursed through my body. I wanted to see how she was doing. According to the two private detectives I hired, this was her father's house. I was afraid she was hurt but wanted to remain positive.

I wanted to leave the car immediately, but the detectives advised against it. They didn't know in what state her father was in and for our safety and Rose's they wanted to wait first.

This got me agitated. We couldn't wait. We had to see if Rose was all right.

Nathan tried to calm me down and keep me seated but I wasn't having it. Against everyone's words, I opened my car door. This resulted in the others following me as well.

Before we even could make a move towards the house. We saw the front door opening. All of us stopped in our tracks and held our breaths.

What we saw next was heartbreaking. I heard someone in distress and before I could make out what was happening, Rose was being thrown around like some rug on the harsh sidewalk. Tears streamed down her face and it looked like she was in pain.

"Get me my beers or stay away, you bitch!"

My anger started to boil up. This filthy bastard. How dare he lay his hands on Rose.

I saw red.

The only thought on my mind was beating the living shit out of him. He did not deserve to stay alive.

Nathan held me back, though. I know he wanted to try to deescalate the situation, but I wasn't having it.

The moment Rose ley her eyes on us, I could see her eyes coming to life. She immediately got up and tried to make her way over to us. But she couldn't, her pathetic excuse of a father was holding her back, trying to bring her inside of the house.

He started to scream, "Who are you people?!"

I had no idea how Nathan remained calm, but somehow he did as he answered in a controlled manner, "People who care for the young lady behind you, that you are harming at the moment."

"Get away from me! Don't stick your rich ass noses in other people's business!"

He started to drag Rose closer and closer to their house. I couldn't let this happen. My body started to move forward. Wanting nothing more than to help the young girl I took into my house months ago.

Rose didn't deserve this. She deserved so much more.

With all her power Rose started to fight back and I couldn't be prouder. I didn't need to help her as her father tripped and Rose managed to get out of his grip.

She ran to Nathan as I got busy with her father. I couldn't withhold a good strong punch right on his jaw.

I wanted to do so much more. To make him feel the same pain Rose felt, and even worse. I wanted to punch him straight to hell. It never got to that point as my detectives stopped me.

When we got her father seated somewhere safely and not being able to escape and Rose safely in the car I signaled Nathan to go to the hospital.

The first thing I wanted was for Rose to have a full check-up. I didn't want her to be in any unnecessary pain.

I called the cops and explained the situation to them. Luckily, my punch was never mentioned and the only thing the police needed was to question Rose.

For the night her father would at least be locked up.

Rose p.o.v

I had not noticed where we were going or when we had left. It was when I finally sat down and was brought into safety that I felt how exhausted I was. I wanted nothing more than to sleep for hours away.

Unlucky me I was woken up by Nathan, who no longer sat next to me in the backseat. He was in the driver seat and had us brought somewhere, without Derek.

I didn't know how to feel about that.

Yes, I was still mad at him, furious even. But at the same time, he was my Daddy. My safe place. It wasn't as simple for me to choose a side, be angry or be happy about him.

"Rose? Can you wake up for me?" Nathan asked in a soothing way.

I whined and stirred. All I wanted was to sleep.

"I know, I know. But we really need to check you out."

Nerves grew in me. "Checked out?"

"Yes, we need to know if your father harmed you more than it seems." He had an apologetic look on his face.

Seeing any doctors was the last thing I wanted now. For days my little side was pushed away to the back of my head and was now for the first time in a while making it's appearance.

"No, no uncle Nathan. Just go home."

He sighed. "It will be fine, little one." Uncle Nathan carefully picked me up from the car and carried me to the big white building in front of us.

I hid my face in his neck. I was too scared. Comfort, I needed comfort.

Tears started to escape from my eyes.

"It's all right, I am here. Everything is going to be all right Rose. I promise." Uncle Nathan whispered.

I shook my head. Just bring me home, I thought. Where ever that might be.

After a short while, I noticed we had entered the building as it felt warmer inside than outside. Soon I heard all sorts of noises. I wanted it to be quiet. Please be quiet.

Uncle Nathan spoke to someone and sat down quite quickly after that. He kept rubbing my back and saying sweet-nothings to me.

It did help me to calm down but not fully. I didn't want any doctors near me. They are scary. And big meanies.

All of a sudden Uncle Nathan stood up.

My grip on his shirt tightened. He shushed me, but it didn't help.

Soon I was being sat down on an examination bed.

No, no don't let go, I thought.

I grabbed his hand and held it close to me. Uncle Nathan gave me small smile and stayed close to me so I could keep holding his hand.

Then a female doctor came into the room were staying at the moment. I held my breath and buried my face into Uncle Nathan's arm.

"All Right, Rose Villin and Nathan VanGalen, am I right?" The doctor asked.

"Yes, that's right." Uncle Nathan spoke for me.

She hummed. "I am Dr. Garcia and will be in charge of Rose for tonight." She looked at her chart. "Well, I see we are dealing with something serious over here. Can I take a look at her?"

Uncle Nathan nodded his head and slowly let go of me. I whined. How could he? He was a traitor.

"It's all right, Rose. I will stay here by your side. She won't hurt you, I promise."

I wanted to believe him, but couldn't.

When our contact was broken, the female doctor first looked at my face. She brought up her hand. I flinched.

Uncle Nathan promised she wouldn't hurt me, but why would she want to touch me where it hurts?

"I am sorry. That was quite unexpected of me, wasn't it? I will say what I will do to try and calm your nerves a bit down." The female doctor was nice.

My anxiety went down, but not fully. I still couldn't trust her.

She looked at my face, ribs, arms, and legs. It would hurt if she would push down on my skin. I didn't like it anymore.

I wended my head towards Uncle Nathan, "Can we go home now?"

Before he could answer the doctor wanted me to stay still. "What's this?" She carefully put her hands on my head where I had a wound, that was hidden behind my hair.

"It's nothing. Doesn't hurt anymore." I muttered.

I could feel how she moved my hair away, shortly after I heard both of them gasp. "Rose since when did you have this wound on your head?"

"I don't know, maybe last night. Uncle Nathan, can we go now?" I didn't like this. I wanted to sleep.

"I am afraid not yet." The doctor said.

She had to call another doctor to look at my head. Uncle Nathan kept on saying everything was going to be all right. I didn't believe him. Everybody scared me, they looked stressed.

"We need to do some tests, to make sure no damage has been done to the brain." The other doctor said.

I didn't want to stay any longer here.

Just bring me home
