Chapter 3

Bzzt. Bzzt. The sound of the phone buzzing on the nightstand, shaking the whole table and the contents on it, awoke Nightmare.

They where both too worried about each other to let them sleep alone that night, so Night decided to sleep with his brother.

Nightmare moaned as he leaned over the edge of his bed, snatching his phone from the nightstand.

He looked over at Dream, still fast asleep in his world of enchantment.

Nightmare clicked on his phone and unlocked it, using the code 030.

The bright light in the dimly lit room shook him, causing him to flinch and quickly turn down the lightening volume. He turned on the blue light filter so that he wouldn't startle Dreams eyelids(?) With the light of the phone.

Ink had texted them.

<Where did you guys go??!)

(We are fine, Ink. Just at our house.>

<Oh, thank God! I thought someone) captured you!

Oh, dont be worried about Error,>
(he should know better before messing with me and dream.

<Yeah, I guess. Especially since you) have to fight with him.

(What??! I would never fight with> someone like him!

<You don't know? Error is making all) the dark sanses fight with him.

(Now that's just racist.>

Nightmare scoffed, continuing to write back to Ink Sans.

<Ahaha! Nono, I mean the dark Sanses) you know, the ones that live or visit your mansion? Unfortunately, is you guys vs the stars. >n<

(Whatever. I'm not helping that idiot.>

<Oh, Jammy is calling. ttyl.)

(k. Bye.>

Nightmare set his phone down next to him on the bed, looking down at Dream.

'Plus, I could never fight Dream. Fighting him would be literal torture.' Nightmare thought to himself in disbelief.

Dream wiggled around a bit in his sleep, though keeping his eyelids(?) shut.

Nightmare slid out of the bed-covers, realizing what he was wearing. Nightmare was wearing grey sweat-pants and a white tank-top. Weird, but Dream probably persuaded Night to change before going to bed to sleep more comfortably.

Nightmare rubbed his eyes and stretched his arms into the air, yawning. He cracked open the door to the normal hallway leading toward the stairs. He look down the railing to see the living room he had grown to love, though, for some reason, he didn't like the way it looked today. He looked back into the bedroom, watching as the sunlight seeped through the curtains, lighting the room with waves of life.

Dream covered his face with the covers to try to keep the sun out of his face. Under the covers was dark and warm. Pleasing him, he drifted back off to sleep. Nightmare sighed.

"Dream, come on, you never sleep in this late." Nightmare admitted. "Don't you think it's time to get up now?" Dream pulled the covers off his face, and for the first time this morning, I could see his face.

"Fine... I guess it is kinda late anyway." Dream sighed. Dream's eyes were big and sparkly, ready for the new day ahead.

"So, whats for breakfast?" Dream asked. Oh, shit. Breakfast. Nightmare completely forgot about food, but, now that he thought about it, he was pretty hungry.

"Hmm, how about waffles?" NM proposed, watching Dreams face light up with enthusiasm, nodding at an inhuman pace.

"Heh, waffles it is then." Nightmare laughed, opening the door, beckoning Dream toward him. (Sorry, I'm not sure if beckoning is only for dogs or not.)

Dream hopped out of bed and skipped down the hall, Nightmare following close behind.

(You can skip this if you want, but, I'm writing this outside and its 30°. ;-; I cant feel my hands, so sorry if there is a bunch of spelling errors)

When Dream and Night made it to the kitchen, Nightmare went ahead and opened the freezer, and hulled out a box of Blueberry Frozen Eggo Waffles.

Dream grabbed plates and napkins as Nightmare slid the cold, hard waffles into the toaster. They both sat at the table and talked with each other.

"So... Ink texted this morning. Worried about us, as usual." Nightmare started. "And, he told me about the whole, 'I have to fight with Error or else.' shit."

"Language!!" Dream shouted at his brother.

"Heh, sorry. But, you know, I would never work with him."

"Oh, but.. I thought Error was going to make you do it by force?" Dream questioned.

"He hasn't told me anything yet." Nightmare shrugged. Suddenly, the toaster went off and shot the waffles up a little, landing on the kitchen counter.

Dream got up and took two waffles for Nightmare and one for Dream.

He didn't even make it back to the table before nibbling on his waffle. Dream handed two to Nightmare and sat back down on his seat at the table. He placed his nibbled on waffle on the plate in front of him and poured some maple syrup on it. The syrup sizzled and bubbled on the waffle as it absorbed the warmth.

Dream grabbed his fork and forced the side into the side of the waffle, edging it closer to him, cutting the waffle. He then stuffed his face with the fork, savoring the flavor.

"Good?" Nightmare laughed. Dream nodded, shoving another bite down.

Nightmare clicked on his phone once again, checking to see if anything was going on in the mansion. As he had suspected, he had many messages. 47, to be exact. Nightmare sighed.

"Hey! No phones at the table!" Dream declared, though, it was hard for Night to understand Dream with his mouth full like that. He sighed and turned off his phone, sliding it in the pocket of his sweats. He was getting used to the comfort of the sweats, to be honest.

~....The Brothers had a Thoughtful Conversation....~

Dream looked up at Nightmare, still giggling from his last joke, and dropped his fork. He backed up, his chair taking a fall and clanking against the floor. He leaned himself as far against the wall as he could, trying to back up.

"D-Dream?" Nightmare muttered. "Something wrong..?"

Dream pointed behind Nightmare and stammered, "E...E-E...rr.." but Nightmare couldn't finish hearing his sentence before being pulled into the portal behind him with light blue strings, sucking him into the empty void. The portal closed, leaving Dream to comprehend what just happened. He gasped for air, shouting Nightmares name into the empty house.

"NIGHTMARE! BROTHER! W-WAIT!" Dream screamed. He ran up to the wall on the other side of the table, banging against the wall.

"GIVE ME MY BROTHER BACK!! BROTHER, PLEASE COME BACK!!"

Dream quickly runs up to the wall hanging on the wall connecting the kitchen and the living-room. He shakily dialed Ink's number into the phone.

"INK!!" Dream shouted into the phone.

"Woah, Dream?" Ink studdered.

"HE TOOK NIGHTMARE! HE TOOK MY BROTHER!" Dream cried into the mouth-piece of the phone.

"W-Wait, what?" Ink questioned. "Hold on.. r-relax Dre-"

"HOW THE HELL CAN I RELAX WHEN THEY TOOK NIGHTMARE??!"

Dream can hear Ink take a deep sigh thought the phone.

"Who took him?" Ink asked, more serious than the last questions.

Dream stiffened up and tried to stop sobbing, "I-I think Error, b-but they never showed themselves.."

"Did he use strings? His haptephobia causes him to not touch anyone, so of it was him, it's likely he used his strings."

"I'm headed toward nightmares castle." Dream steadied his voice.

"Wait, I'm coming with." Ink stated. His voice cracky, really not feeling up for a fight.

"Fine." Dream responded. "Meet you there in 5."

"Wai-" But Dream hung up before Ink could finish. He ran up the stairs, into his room where night had slept with him before. He grabbed his staff and tied on his Cape around him. He slid into his boots and put on his jacket. He was ready to attack.

He created a portal to his brothers mansion and hopped through. He awaited Inks arrival.

~....At Inks Home....~

"Jammy! Where are you!" Ink yelled up the stairs. Paperjam opened his bedroom door and looked down the stairs at his father.

"Yes?" Paperjam asked.

"I'm going to be out. I dont know how long. Um... can you please come here..?"

PJ nodded and walked down the stairs. He jumped down the last two and landed on the wooden floor with a thump. Ink smiled.

"Yea-" PJ was cut off be Ink tightly hugging PJ. "D-Daddy.. I c-cant bre-ath." PJ gasped.

"I love you, PJ." Ink assured, lightening his grip, holding back tears. "I just want you to know that, just incase.."

"Just in case what?" PJ questioned.

"Eh.. n-nothing."

Ink waved goodbye to PJ and Ink looked away with misty eyes. He opened a portal and hopped through, closing it quickly behind him.

"Thanks for giving me no time with my family." Ink growled, looking down at the ground.

Dream whipped around and replied, "It was your idea to come."

Ink sighed and walked past Dream.

"I'm going in." Ink demanded, leaning against the door, listening for movements.

Ink's eyes widened as he heard.. moaning? Whining? Crying..? He'd definitely never heard this in the mansion before.

"Dream... somethings off."

Dream looked at Ink with a questioned face; he admitted a 'Hm?' sound.
