β€’ Third Person β€’

After three years...

Yujin was walking down the red carpet beside a stoic-faced Xiaoting. Her arm was linked in the taller one's as they stopped and posed for the press.

It was the fourth time that she's attending the Grammy Awarding Ceremony and she would always be alone during those times except for tonight. They were stopped for an interview along the way.

"Ms. Choi! May we have a few minutes of your time?"

Yujin grinned happily and agreed. "Of course!"

"It's the fourth time that you've been nominated for grammys, how do you feel?"

"Honestly, I'm both proud and humbled at the same time. Proud of the fact that I've come this far and humbled because I know this isn't the end. This is only one of the many steps in my music career. I'm thankful for everyone who kept supporting me and my music." Yujin answered.

"Well said! Do you think you could bring home a trophy tonight?"

"I hope I do! Everyone else nominated are great so I feel nervous but I'd like to keep hoping that I would win." The singer smiled shyly.

"You deserve it if you do! Also, I could see that you brought a date with you tonight?" The interviewer teased.

This made Yujin smile and look at the woman beside her who was smiling softly back at her.

"She's my lucky charm and I thought maybe she'll win me an award tonight." She replied jokingly.

"She's jesting," Xiaoting interjected. "Whether she wins or not, it's all because of her hard work. I've only been her supporter all throughout."

"What made you come tonight, Ms. Shen?"

"She asked me to." She replied.

The interviewer got curious. "... Oh?"

Xiaoting let out a soft chuckle. "My presence here is simply because she asked if I could come with her tonight."

"Then, does that mean that the last times she was nominated, she didn't bother asking you?"

Xiaoting smiled. "Yes. Even I was quietly disappointed those two times that I was finally present in her life."

"I assumed you didn't like attending such events." The singer pouted as a blush crept to her cheeks in embarrassment. She knew that it was her fault that she simply assumed what Xiaoting liked, but the other also should have voiced out her thoughts.

"Yes, yes. I'm kidding, I should have told you I wanted to attend it with you." Xiaoting pacified. This made Yujin smile and looked at the interviewer.

"See? This is why communication is important."

The interviewer laughed and asked a few more questions about their matching gowns. After which the two ladies were finally able to enter the venue.

"Ladies, gentlemen, and non-binaries, welcome to the prestigious annual grammy awards!"

The night carried on until one of the much awaited awards is finally about to be announced- the Album of the Year.

The big screens showed those who were nominated for the award. Among the American nominees, Yujin stood out as she waved at the camera. Once again, she was nominated for a grammy award but have yet to win the said prize.

Yujin reached her hand out towards Xiaoting's. For some reason, she felt extra nervous tonight and she wanted to gain some strength from her beloved.

Ting leaned towards her side to whisper to her ears, "I believe in you. No matter what happens tonight, I will always be your number one fan."

Yujin smiled and nodded gratefully.

The lights dimmed and focused on the announcer.

"The Grammy Album of the Year award goes to..."

"Congratulations, Ms. Yujin Choi!"

The stadium errupted into a loud cheer from the fans and the applause of other artists.

Meanwhile Yujin froze with her hand on her mouth in complete disbelief.

"I, I... won? M-me?"

Xiaoting gave her the biggest smile she could, "As you should have long ago."

Yujin finally stood up but she felt her knees wobble. Xiaoting was quick to hold her arms and helped her towards the stage. This gesture earned coo's from the audience as Yujin climbed up the stage while Xiaoting went back to her designated seat.

"Ah- I, uhm... Sorry, standing right in front of everyone so beautiful and talented to say my speech is making me nervous." The crowd laughed.

"So... I, I just want to thank everyone who has always supported me, especially to my fans who have been nothing but patient and understanding. I won't be here without each and every one of you. To the people I worked with, my record label, directors, producers, writers and the people involved with my career, thank you so much. Others might not see the effort you do, but I won't come as far as I have if it wasn't for you guys. To my friends, you're encouraging messages helped me become the best person I could be. And to my sisters, blood-related and voluntarily insisted they're such," This made Yujin giggle which the crowd found endearing. "No matter what happens, I will always be your eonnie. Your presence in my life has been an anchor that kept me afloat. It won't be an exaggeration to say that I'd be lost without your existence."

Yujin took a deep inhale and breathed out. She looked at a certain direction as her eyes found the woman who never stopped clapping for her, both literally and figuratively.

"And to my other half, the woman who kept me sane amidst all the chaos this world kept throwing at me, thank you for your unwavering love and support for me. You already know that a lot of my songs are dedicated to you, most especially this album- but I could never really repay all the the things you've given me. And I'm not only talking about material things, okay? I love those," She giggled. "But you also helped me become the person who I am today. To my first and last lover, words are never enough to describe my care and appreciation for you. I guess I'll just have to settle with the clichΓ© line of 'I love you'... So, I love you, Shen Xiaoting. Happy second wedding anniversary, jagiya."

After ending her speech, the crowd went wild.

Xiaoting smiled beautifully at the woman tearing up on stage. She couldn't help but feel emotional as well. They were just talking casually in the car earlier about what Yujin wanted to say if she won an award. The first thing that came out of her mouth was that she would profess her love for the other on global TV. Both of them just laughed but they didn't know that they'd be here right now like this. Nevertheless, Xiaoting was more than happy to able to call the woman publically hers.

As Yujin finally walked down the stage, the other artists congratulated her. When she finally arrived in front of her beloved, she suddenly felt shy and brushed her hair behind her ears.

"Hi."

"Hey." Replied Xiaoting while smiling so wide.

The camera focused at their interaction while the two didn't notice it as they were focused on each other.

Xiaoting smiled at Yujin while wiping a few stray tears away from her tears. She didn't bother with the stares of the others as she leaned down to place a soft kiss on her wife. "I love you too, Yujin. To the rest of our sunrise and sunsets."

The venue was suddenly filled with shouts which shocked the two. When they looked at the big screens, they noticed that they were being watched by the whole audience. With fluttering hearts, the two smiled shyly at each other.

End.
