Chapter 49

When the white fire orb exploded, there was an outpouring of heavy power from it. The power burst was in the form of sparkling, white dust, and a strong blast of wind. From the abrupt outbreak of energy and the heavy gusts of wind, everyone was forced to duck their heads. Those who were quick to react like mo yuan, took cover behind their protective shields. It was these people, standing behind their shields that saw the subsequent events unfold.

When the orb finally broke, the white fire that made it, disintegrated into a light, shiny dust that went through the entire valley carried by the force of the wind. They saw as this magical gust, transfigured the decorations all around the valley. The carpet was covered in petals of foling flowers and peach blossoms in such a way that the earlier green of the carpet was nowhere visible. The multi-colored floral arrangements lining the carpet were changed to one single color and its various hues, and that was purple. The flowers were of a wide variety but all were in the shades of purple like lilac, lavender, violet, periwinkle, orchid, amethyst, plum, and similar others. But the most fascinating conversion instead, was of the banners.

The banners that held the symbols and colors of qingqui and taichen palace earlier then held only one unique symbol. Amid the white background and purple borders, there sat a circular bed of foling flowers, and in the center of that purple flowerbed was a single red, unfurled phoenix flower, same as that on feng jiu's forehead. The mark of feng jiu and donghua's insignia, together as a crest, could be seen as a symbolization of the union of heaven and earth, from a certain perspective. The unification of nature and living, together formed a whole that the fates had been eagerly waiting for. The circles were complete and the universe found its balance once again. The prime evidence of the blessedness of the fates was the glorification of the dong hua and feng jiu, from the bride and groom to the almighty god and goddess.

Rooted in their spots, everyone present in that valley, watched as the dust and wind disappeared leaving behind donghua and feng jiu floating down from the sky. The couple that was dressed in the red wedding robes previously, descended from the sky in the imperial purple and white robes of an emperor and an empress. Their inner robes shone a regal purple and the outer robes were a pure yet dazzling white. The white outer robe had purple embroidered borders throughout, from the collars, the huge sleeves, the sash, to the trailing bottom. The difference though was in the embroidery. On donghua's outer robe, the borders were embroidered in phoenixes, foxes, dragons, thunderbirds, tigers along other living forms whereas feng jiu's outer robe were embroidered with a wide variety of flowers. Though he still had the red fox tail intertwined with foling flowers, hanging from the belt of his robe along with the dangling arrowhead, there was another addition to his ensemble.

In place of the golden hair clasp, on top of donghua' head, now sat the emperor's clasp. With an enormous inset indigo jewel, the tall clasp itself was a glittering silver. From the middle of the clasp a long, intricate silver pin spanned across donghua's entire head. The length of the pin and the height of the clasp was the mark of his position as the eternal emperor, but the massive glittering jewel was the material representation of his divine personification.

Feng jiu's glorification was no different. Where she had earlier chosen not to wear unnecessary trinkets, now she was dripping in jewels from top to bottom. But, the one on her head was the most prominent. The golden phoenix coronet of before had been replaced by a resplendent, heavenly crown. The crown glimmered with so many amethysts, tanzanite, sapphires, violet topazes, zircons, and aquamarines that it seemed like the crown was made entirely from the gems alone. When, in fact, a thin hair-like wire made from a glowing white-silver metal, exquisitely weaved the gems together, to form her crown. Though, just like donghua's, the focal point was the same enormous indigo jewel that sat atop feng jui's pyramidical crown. A pin similar to donghua's spanned through her hair and across her head. But the difference here shone as that her pin was embellished with numerous hanging chains of pure white pearls. They grew in size as they fell from her hair and on each of the pearls was engraved the figure of a living form. Her pin and its pearls embodied her true form as the queen of living whereas in accordance with donghua, the height of the crown and the intricacy of the gems were the mark of her position as the eternal empress by his side; the massive indigo jewel, too was the depiction of her holy powers and transcendental embodiment.

Still, there was something that hid from everyone's sight. At their backs, on the white outer robe was the same symbol that had earlier graced the front of their wedding clothes. It was the design that feng jiu had painstakingly made by herself; a nine-tailed red fox entwined with a branch of purple foling flowers that spread out and formed a wreathe around it. This pleasing and elegant motif was now spread across their backs, hidden from view as everyone was busy admiring the sanctity of what had happened.

No one knew what had led to such unusual yet holy events. Even though most of them were gods and immortals by birth, none of the guests had ever been witness to a view so sublime and power so mystical. To their naïve eyes, this was a happening of an unprecedented nature and one, they might never be able to see again. On the other hand, those who had witnessed the rebirth of feng jiu was delighted to see the blessings they have received. Their hard-fought love and righteousness had finally won them the grace of the fates and that too, in such a profound form.

The sublime yet regal picture these two formed was unparalleled. They exuded the power and strength of their supremacy, above all. Subservient to such power, everyone kneeled in deference of the almighty emperor and empress. The view this created was mesmerizing and not because of its power but for the beauty of a ruler and his faithful subjects. This was the mark of a great monarch.

Though, behind them, in the momentarily forgotten fire pot burned a luminous white flame that edged out from its sides. The fire burnt high and mighty, like a wildfire. It was merely the magic of the pot that continued to contain the flame within. Zhe yan was the first to notice the rampant flame. He quietly cast a charm to encase the fire and its pot in a secure shield. Since everyone was still lost in the prior sequence of events, he gently nudged bai zhi in the back.

The poking woke bai zhi up from the stupor he was stuck in. He got up and loudly cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. He realized that they needed to continue with the proceedings for the wedding banquet but first, he had to make a declaration. Stepping forward he proclaimed, "it is my great honor to present to you, the queen and king of qingqiu. Her majesty, bai feng jiu and his majesty, donghua dijun."

All this while, dong hua and feng jiu held no cognizance for anyone around them. The married couple was completely lost in each other's eyes. it had been that way since the moment, feng jiu had stepped in dong hua's arms from the first burst of fire. After that, they were so deeply absorbed in each other that it took bai zhi's proclamation to bring them back to reality. While feng jiu took a few minutes longer to process what had happened, dong hua understood instantly. With his arm placed securely around her waist, he pulled her back into him before he called out everyone to rise.

They watched the wedding guest get back up on their feet and stare at them with reverent grateful eyes. Feng jiu might not have understood at that moment what had taken place but as a queen, she never left the duties of her mantle behind. Rising up to the occasion, she took in the devoted look in their eyes before making an announcement, "every one that is present here in this valley, right this moment is invited for the wedding banquet in sarai xingfu, today." The announcement was mainly for the general and lords that had served under donghua's command since they were the only ones without a formal invitation for the wedding banquet. So, in a small effort to pay off for their millennia of devotion towards her husband, she open-handedly gave them what they desired the most at that moment, the pleasure of donghua's prolonged company.

Without turning, she reached out to Zhong lin through the connection she had given him earlier and softly said, "Zhong lin." He was a little taken back by the sudden voice in his brain but considering the events of the past few weeks, this was effectively nothing in comparison. So, thinking not much of it, he replied back in his brain, "yes, your majesty?"

"make sure you tell them about the location of sarai xingfu and the place for the banquet but do so without attracting the attention of others. This should not reflect badly on them."

"I understand, your majesty." Zhong lin answered.

Dong hua could hear every word of this silent communication. He didn't know how but he was able to hear everything. Feeling proud of feng jiu's kind and compassionate nature, he whispered softly in her ear after she was done conversing with Zhong lin, "shall we go, my wife?"

Feng jiu's head snapped back immediately in his direction on hearing the word 'wife' from him and in reference to her. Emotions overwhelmed her as she placed a hand on top of his that rested on her waist and gently held the other in her free hand. Tilting her head back a little, she said in a lilting voice, "we shall, my husband." With that, they faded from the stage.
