I don't know what was going through my mind when I jumped from the bridge down to the place that the Joker was working, making quick work of his minions. I didn't say a single thing when the Joker tried to shoot punching glove cannons at me, I simply dodged them, my hood almost falling off a few times. I grabbed an explosive arrow and whipped out my dark purple foldable bow, shooting one at his feet, and sprinting through the smoke.

I punched Joker in the face, then I jumped, locking my legs around his neck and twisting my body, my cape twirling like a snakes tail, I brought him under me, so that I was now sitting on his chest.

"Why hello." He said, eyeing my chest. I slapped him. "And who might you be?" He asked, grinning his signature grin.

"If you must know, I'm the darkness." I told him, smiling, making sure I still had my small, blue, wing shaped mask covering my eyes with red glass over the hazel orbs. He smiled, looking past me and up. I immediately looked up and around to see Batman, my father, staring down at me. I slowly and quietly reached into my belt and grabbed a repel rope, and a few smoke pellets.

Quickly I threw the smoke balls down, each exploding and immediately cloaking the room. I used the repel rope to tie joker up, and I quickly ran to the nearby door, running out of the wretched building, and I was crying.

I had just turned ten, and I had made a few adjustments to the cape. Now, it had a few ruffles in the bottom, and if I grabbed the right places at the side, they hardened into wings. I had been training with it for a while, and I was pretty good.

My mother had gone for some porpoise and had come back, pregnant.

I ran, and clicking a button, a motorcycle suddenly came racing down the street. I wiped the tears out of my eyes, and jumped onto the still moving bike. I wanted to go to the top of something, mimic the pain that has cursed me for years.

I had been biking for a while and was no longer in Gotham, but somewhere else. I didn't care, there was a mountain and I intended to climb it. I stopped my motorcycle by the steep side, and grabbed onto the first rock.

My baby brother was due any day now, and to tell the truth, I was happy as an only assassin child. My mother yelled, it was obviously happening. I sat in my bedroom, meditating to calm my nerves. As soon as I was old enough I would run away from here. As soon as I was sixteen.

I was halfway up the mountain now, it was smaller than I was used to, but it was the only mountain for a long time more. I was jumping, flipping, and sprinting up the mountain. Before I was ready, I was at the top, not even panting, ready for more. All I saw was the night sky, something I was only able to enjoy when I was on my spare time, which was when everyone thought I was asleep.

I looked around, making sure no one was there, and I sat, meditating to the grasshoppers light hum and the short bursts of breeze rolling over the grass that peaked the hill.

I don't know how long I sat there until someone came up. He was a young man, maybe eleven, twelve, he had a weird suit of red and white on and a few people followed him up.

"Uhh, miss?" He asked, and I held a quick finger up to him, not daring to open my eyes. After a few seconds, I grabbed my bow and  pointed an arrow his direction.

"Who are you?" I asked the stunned man and his friends. They looked at eachother, then back at me, and I recognized two of them. Nightwing and Robin.

I pointed the arrow at them. "What are you doing here?" I growled, and they looked stunned.

"Uh, lady, who are you?" The one that was green and resembled a monkey asked me.

"I am the darkness." I said blankly and continued to stare at them through the red of my mask.

"Uhh, okay, well, can you get off of mount justice?" I noticed they were beginning to surround me. I took this as a sign of offence, so I reached into my belt and threw down two smoke pellets. Quickly I ran, trying to pass through the remaining gap, but a boy who had recently been covered in blue armour grabbed me and held me down. I struggled, reaching into my pocket to grab an explosive pellet and pushing it against his armour I propelled forward, flipping to keep my balance.
