Chapter 13: New Faces, Old Tactics

The Yakuza camp just suffered a major defeat. With Overhaul gone, the rest of the captains who remained alive went into hiding. They gathered up what little resources they could and bolted right out of the building when the Blood Tyrant withdrew.

2 of them are now in an abandoned warehouse, trying to heal from the previous battle.

Chronostasis: Is there anymore food?

Twice: I don't think so.

In the battle, only Chronostasis and Twice managed to escape. When Twice was unleashing his Sad Man's Parade, the real Twice grabbed Chronostasis and ran away, leaving the clones to buy time for them.

Now they are trying to heal then get into contact with AfO again. Their injuries wasn't too bad so they won't need to go to any hospitals but they will still need time to recover.

In the battle, Twice overcame his trauma and now doesn't have a alternate personality. Chronostasis became a little more humble after nearly losing to a teen girl.

Scene change to Izuku

Izuku: Cheers to our victory!

Izuku shouted as he raise his shot glass as drank the whiskey inside. Dabi and Citrus followed suit as both of them shot their whiskey. Hitoshi just sips his coffee while Toga is drinking orange juice.

Mashiro isn't in the party due to her wanting to take care of Eri. She has grown a liking for the little girl as she found Eri cute and innocent.

Izuku: Our overwhelming victory gave us another headline folks.

Dabi: Indeed, now our popularity grows even larger.

Citrus: Underworld is slowly ours.

Toga: And let it rain blood on those who oppose us!

Hitoshi just sighs as he looks at the clock.

Hitoshi: Not to be a party pooper but it is 6am already, shouldn't we be wrapping this up.

Citrus: What are you talking about, we will party until we either get knock out drunk or Mashiro stops us!

Hitoshi: Well unlike you bozo, I still have school.

Citrus: Oh yea, what a loser.

Hitoshi: Asshole.

Citrus: Whatever, at least take a shot before going to school.

Hitoshi: Which god damm school allows you to show up drunk?

Dabi: He does have a point.

Citrus: If you get drunk in one shot, you're a lightweight.

Dabi: He also does have a point.

Izuku: Enough y'all, just let Hitoshi do what he wants. If he doesn't drink, I'll just drink on his behalf.

Izuku said that as he took another shot of whiskey.

Toga: Nono Izuku, you are going to regret this later.

Izuku: Nonsense, since when have I regretted drinking.

Toga: Everytime you complain to me about your hangover.

Izuku: ...

Toga: So will you stop drinking now?

Izuku: No.

Toga: Hmph fine, then don't expect me to make you herbal soup when you are hangover.

Toga pouts as she crosses her arms.

Izuku: Wait, wait. We can talk about this.

Toga: Then stop drinking.

Izuku: Haiz, fine.

Dabi: Haha, looking at the feared Blood Tyrant being bossed around by his girlfriend is too funny.

Citrus: Agreed.

Hitoshi: Alright since the party is dying down, I'm going to take my leave. I can't be too late for school.

Dabi: Let me drive you there, I need to sober up anyways.

Hitoshi: The last thing I need is a drunk driver!

Dabi: Touché.

Scene change to Gran Torino

Gran Torino is currently walking around in a very shady part of town. Nezu has tasked him with recruiting some erm specialist for the job.

Gran Torino knocks on the wooden door as he waits for an answer. The door creeks open slowly, revealing a man dressed in a black hoodie. His face is covered by a black mask, but small details of his face still can be made out.

???: What do you want.

He said it more like a statement than a question.

GT: I heard you are a hired specialist.

???: Only if you have the cash.

GT: 50k upfront, 50k when the job is done.

???: Make it 60k, 40k and we have a deal.

GT: Alright deal.

???: Who's the target.

GT: Blood Tyrant.

???: ...

GT: Is there a problem?

???: Make it 6mil upfront and 4mil when the job is done. If I'm going to mess with that guy, you better pay me something worth equal to my life.

GT: That's quite the price increase. But I'm not sure if the price is worth it.

???: Trust me, I'm the only one in the industry suicidal enough to even accept the job in the first place.

GT: Alright then, 6mil upfront it is. Go to XXX to receive your payment and more info.

With that Gran Torino left the man a note as he walks away.

Scene change to Mashiro

It has been 2 days since Mashiro got custody of Eri. They somehow have great synergy with each other, liking each other almost immediately after they meet. Even though Eri is still afraid of everyone else, she actually can interact with Mashiro.

Mashiro: Eri, what do you want to eat?

Eri: Apple!

Eri excited says as she smiles broadly.

Mashiro: Alright Eri, I'll go prepare. You can play with Uncle Izuku.

Eri: Ok...

Eri says hesitantly as Mashiro left.

Izuku is left with Eri alone as Eri slowly approaches Izuku. Izuku has no experience dealing with children whatsoever, so he is almost quite nervous.

Izuku: Eri, do you want to play a game?

Eri: A game?

Izuku: It's something fun we can do.

Eri: Ok.

Izuku: Let's play blackjack.

Eri: What's blackjack?

Izuku basically explains blackjack to Eri while Eri slowly learns how to do math. Yes, Izuku condones child gambling, just without the money.

Izuku: Alright let's start the first round.

Izuku deals the cards to Eri and himself, as Eri slowly picks up her cards. She looks at the cards as she starts to use her finger to count. Izuku wanted to tell her that he can see her counting her number but it was just too cute.

Izuku: Alright Eri do you want another card?

Eri: Yes.

Izuku gives Eri another card as Eri begins counting again.

Izuku: Another card?

Eri: No I'm confident.

Izuku: Ok turn your cards over.

Eri: I got 19!

Izuku: Erm Eri, that's 18.

Eri begins to panic as she uses her fingers to recount the points. When she realises she counted wrong, her face turned red in embarrassment.

Izuku: It's ok Eri, just learn from your mistakes.

Eri: Ok!

Eri began to cheer up as she makes a face of determination. Izuku and Eri plays another few more rounds until Eri falls asleep from exhaustion.

Mashiro walks in bringing a bowl of sliced apple as she sees a sleeping Eri and Izuku packing up the cards.

Mashiro: You could have told me she was asleep.

Izuku: Nah, it's fine, I'll eat it.

Mashiro: Haiz.

Mashiro sighs as she look at Eri suddenly jerks in her sleep. Her face turns into a frightened one as she keeps moving.

Mashiro: I think Eri is having a nightmare, should we wake her up?

Izuku: Yea we should, no one likes being in a nightmare.

Mashiro places down the plate of apple as she reaches out to Eri and taps her shoulder. Suddenly, Eri's horn grew out as it began to glow. Mashiro immediately retracts her hand as she looks worried.

Yellow light began to sprout from the horn as Izuku and Mashiro look at it worried. The plate of apple beside Eri suddenly turned back into a skinned apple for a moment, before disappearing entirely. Izuku and Mashiro saw this as both made the connection of her quirk.

Mashiro: Eri wake up!

Izuku: Wake up!

Both of them shouts to Eri but it seems she couldn't wake up. Izuku wanted to grab Eri but fears that he will also rewind if he did.

Suddenly, a splash of water hit Eri as Eri finally woke up. Mashiro had thrown a glass of water at Eri, hoping that will wake her up, and luckily it worked.

Eri wakes up as she looks at Izuku and Mashiro who both had a slight fearful expression on their faces. This caused Eri to be scared as she tucked her head in her arms.

Izuku was the first to notice why, as he spoke.

Izuku: It's ok Eri, it's not your fault.

Eri: But my quirk...it almost harmed you.

Mashiro: It's ok Eri, we will solve this together.

Eri: But...what if I hurt more people.

Izuku: Your quirk won't hurt anyone, trust me.

Eri: Really?

Mashiro: Yes really, it's a wonderful quirk.

Eri: Alright.

Eri regains a little confidence as she looks at Izuku and Mashiro. Mashiro picks Eri up as both of them walk out of the room to get some food in the kitchen, leaving Izuku in the room.

He wants to think of a solution to help Eri out with her quirk control. The most realistic way is to train but what if she goes out of control then, it's not like this time when you can just wake her up.

No one in the gang has any quirk to counter this either. Not like he can just erase Eri's quirk. Right?

Izuku: What if I ask Eraserhead for help. Will that work? Can I even trust him to take care of Eri.

Izuku has this feeling that Eraserhead won't betray his trust. Yet again, Mashiro may not agree at all. That's one thing everyone in the Blood Tyrant group has in common, they don't trust heroes.

There is still a chance they might use Eri against him as leverage. They may get this desperate. Whatever the case is, he needs to figure out something to get Eri's quirk under control for now.

With that, Izuku left the room after cleaning up the cards and the water.

Scene change to Nezu

Nezu is on the call with Gran Torino.

Nezu: So you got him?

GT: Yeah, I hired him. What's so special about him anyways? And for that price.

Gran Torino didn't know the person or his background. All he knows is that Nezu somehow thinks he is best for the job.

Nezu: He was an freelance assassin hired by the hero commission to kill a infamous kingpin in the past. Of course, he succeeded. But that wasn't all, he managed to track down the boss of the kingpin that even the hero commission didn't know about and kill the real boss. That's how efficient he is.

GT: Sounds like a real underworld achiever alright. But he didn't seem that tough when I visited him.

Nezu: That's what makes a good assassin. The ability to blend in.

GT: True. What's his name?

Nezu: Lugh Tuatha De.
