3rd person POV

A day had passed since the combat class had gained a new Co-instructor, and there are no short talks about it. The young teacher that defeats an entire class without losing once is on the entire lips of everyone on Beacon.

Some of the second years thinks it was a hoax, others still thinks that he was too young to be a teacher, and a lot of the first years either admire him or was a tad bit jealous of his abilities. But one thing for sure, no one in Beacon doesn't know the name Rean Schwarzer now.

RWBY team were currently at the cafetaria, the four young huntresses carried their tray of food and sat down. It was quite a lively morning as usual, with some students talks about different topics while eating their food.

"You know guys, it's a blessing that we don't have any assignment on the combat class." Yang said.

"All thanks to Instructor Rean sparring session!" Ruby added with a cheerful tone.

"Instructor? He was still a co-instructor though" Blake replied to her leader.

"I don't think that's a problem, he's already good enough to be an Instructor for me, with how strong he was." Yang admitted.

Weiss was smiling at the topic of the talks.

"Indeed, I think he has shown that he was capable of becoming an Instuctor for us, his abilities was precise and calm, and also he was quite humble for his age." She remembered how he was humble to accept that his resignation was decided on his students hands, showing a responsible mind.

Her teammate was quite surprised at what Weiss said.

"Oh?~ Did you have the hots on Instructor Rean?~~" Yang teased at her which makes her irritated.

"S-Shut up! It's not like that, I was just stating the facts." Weiss replied.

"Ahh.. I can't argue with that, he was definitely strong, and for all I know, I really didn't expect for him to suddenly using his bare hands when fighting me."

"Though I was curious, where did he get that strong? He's only 20 and yet, he looked like he has more experience at combat than a lot of the teacher here..." Blake said with a questioned look, still curious about the origin and abilities that he had.

"He was awesome! He's really able to catch up with my speed, also his suggestion about using gadget after that spar is something I kept in my mind." Ruby interrupted, which makes her can't wait to try some new gadgets.

"Hey guys! talking about Instructor Rean huh?" Jaune voice was heard by the RWBY team, in which the JNPR team goes near their table and sit down near them.

"Oh! His fire attacks were cool! And he was able to use martial arts like Ren! I wondered if he was the best at breaking legs! " Nora interject with her cheerful personality.

"Jeez, that wasn't how martial arts was used." Ren sighed at the obsession of Nora want to breaking legs.

"Though his movements are amazing, and he was pretty good at countering attacks, and his way of fighting reminds me of the people in Mistral." He added while voicing his opinion.

"Still, I was still thinking if I should accepted his help, he seemed like a cool guy, and I was curious about him saying to help me use my weapon, but I don't want to trouble him." Jaune said, which he was still pondering what to do.

"Jaune, don't worry, I'm sure he will glad to help you.

And if I may, can I come along? I was indeed also curious about how strong he was able to become." Pyrrha said while also asking her team leader.

She was still thinking about what does he means by her goal, and also because of how Rean was stronger than her, she wants to try to take the advice of fighting people that were stronger than her.

"Thanks Pyrrha, and maybe if I ask him, I'll also bring you along." Jaune replied to her while he smiled a little.

"Speaking of the devil, there he is." Yang said to her friends, looking at Rean entering the Cafetaria, which garnered a lot of the attention of the whole people there.

At this point, Rean was getting used of the stares even more.

'Well, I didn't think yesterday lesson would goes smoothly, but it was still taxing... the last battle was also the cause of it, good thing I've been training in the early morning for a few days.' He thought to himself.

'Though, I can't think too much gadgets and items that can helped them all, instead I'm just sketching some weapons from his memories that were used by the people he knew...' Still in thought while also holding a small sketchbook.

After picking some food on his tray, he look at the table and realized almost all of it were full, he then look at one empty spot near some of his students which are the RWBY and JNPR teams. Decided not to waste more time. he approached the empty spot with his food.

"Excuse me, may I sit here? Almost all the spot were full." Rean said to his students.

"Sure teach!" Yang replied while smiling.

He then takes the seat while eating some of his food, the students were a little bit nervous about asking or talking to him, but the silence were broken quite fast.

"So teach, where did you come from?" Yang asked a question which grabs the attention of her friends.

"I was living alone in the outskirt of Mistrals, then I'm looking for opportunity at Beacon for work and here I am." He answered the question, using his fake background.

"Where did you learned to fight like that, co-intrustor Rean?" Blake added another question.

"Only Rean just fine, well some are self taught, other I learned from my teacher, I can't remember him quite that much thought, I was still a kid back then after all." Rean said while trying to still lie about his origin. This backstory of course doesn't make her satisfied at all and she was still curious, but she doesn't have any grounds for pushing it. He was then looking at the content of his sketchbook.

"Um, Co-Instructor Rean, what is that you're looking if I may ask?" Pyrrha noticing with curiosity.

"Oh this? some little sketch I made of some weapons, though just the concept of it without really thinking about it's materials" As he then slides it into his students.

"REALLY??! LET ME SEE! LET ME SEE!" Ruby then dash towards it with such curiosity, while the others also looking at the sketches.

Some of the weapons are normal one without gimmicks like a giant broadsword, dual swords, or guns like some shotguns and handguns. But some are having simple gimmicks or even more tricky ones, like twin small gunswords, tonfas with a gun mechanic, halberd that can turn into scythe with chains that can be used for a longer range, or even a weird one like a wand or a bow with a weird mechanics into it. This made the others quite curious, but for Ruby it's another matter.

"WOW! That was a lot of designs with different mechanics! AND THAT HALBERD IS REALLY INTERESTING, EVEN IF THERE ARE NO GUNS ON IT, THE OTHER WEAPONS ARE ALSO AWESOME TOO!" It's quite obvious the young girl are beyond estatic about those designs. Rean was quite surprised by the sheer energy she had for weapons.

"Whoa sis! Calm down a bit, it's teach's designs after all." Yang interjects trying to calm down her sister.

"Ah! y-yeah, sorry about that." Ruby slows down while still a little bit embarassed.

"Haha, no worries, I can show you more later if you want to, Ruby." Rean said.

"REALLY? Thanks Instructor Rean!" She replied with a smiled.

"Though, what are the usefulness of the bow, and especially the wands?" Weiss asked curious by it's weird mechanism.

"That one? well, I've learned a bit about dust fuctionality, which is facinating, and all I've seen are they usually being used either as bullet or infused in weapons, even for each elements. Which I wondered, what if the dust being used were more different?" This makes Weiss curious on what that could have meant.

"For example for the bow, what if the projectiles were created instantly utilizing the dusts, or for the wand in which by utilizing dust not only as a weapon which will using the dust powers at maximum capability, but also as a source energy for either communication or radar like device, more like a pseudo-Scroll."

This shocked Weiss, not only this young teacher have a great skill on battle, he was able to have a thinking about utilizing dust technologies into new possibilities, even if it was still a raw idea, it's still promising.

"Wow professor, I didn't think you have that interest about dust technology." Weiss admitted on her teacher new thinking.

"Well it was a good topic to tackle, and I've also had in mind about other things for it, if you're interested you can just as later, Ms. Weiss." He said with a polite tone in which made Weiss added her respected to the young teacher.

"Also I'm still hard on thinking about gears and stuffs that can helped you all to grow, so all these sketches are still raw ideas. I'm not that savvy after all, haha..." This makes the others also looking at the young teacher with a hint of respect, as he was genuienly wanting to help them grow.

After finishing his food, he said his farewell because of some work he needs to do while his students were also prepared for the other classes. He then make his way to Ozpin office, in which he was welcomed.

"Excuse my intrusion." Rean said.

"No problem, take a seat." Ozpin replied with a smile in his face.

"I received your message this early morning, is this about yesterday class?"

"Yes, you may say that."

"I apologized about saying that the students can decide about my position as an instructor or not." Rean felt apologetic about his action on letting the student decide without talking to the headmaster.

"No need to apologize, while indeed you just suddenly suggest something that wasn't necessary, that wasn't the reason for you being here." Ozpin replied in which he doesn't mind about Rean action.

"Now then, your performance yesterday as a co-instructor was more than sufficient, that you don't need to even wait for a week to become a combat instructor fully, you can efficiently start the next time your class started."

The headmaster was indeed impressed by his new teacher at handling the combat class, but he realized that there must be a way for Rean to teach something new for his students.

"So with that in mind, what is your own next plan to help them grow?" Ozpin asked. In which Rean realized that he must have his own ways to teach the students, because the true Rean initially was a teacher at Thors, and with that in mind, all that he was able to think was one thing.

"Umm, then do you remember the time I explained about myself? when I was a student and was sent to various parts for my field studies in which me and my friends helped the local people with various things? I was wondering if we could do something like that, but if the various places were impossible, we could just do it in Vale." Rean suggested in which got Ozpin thinking about the idea.

"So you would gave the students some huntsmen and huntresses various jobs? even if they weren't graduated yet?" As Ozpin asked about the details of the meaning of Rean suggestion.

"Yes, I heard that some of the second years already do small missions here and there, but I'm thinking there are going to be atleast the first year do some of these small missions for each curiculum. And if it were to sudden or can't be done immediately, why not try in on some small quantity of teams?"

Ozpin thought about this for a while, in which he then wants to know Rean reasoning.

"And if I may ask, why do you want to do this method? Even if some students are still inexperienced?"

"That's the more reason to do this, experience can change people and make them grow, even what happened during the sudden war that throw my entire school into it so suddenly."

It reminded him on the sudden noble wars. This of course made Ozpin reconsider that it could be the best option, after all, their true enemy could attack at any moment.

"I see, I'll consider it for now, in the meantime, you can continue teaching them as usual. And thank you for your input, you can now leave." Ozpin replied while still pondering about the idea.

After the conversation ended, Rean leave the office and goes to the amphitheater to do a little bit of training. Few hours passes and there is a student going inside the amphitheater. Rean then noticed two of his student, Jaune and Pyrrha, carrying their weapons respectively and goes inside.

"Oh, professor, I didn't expect you to be here" Pyrrha said noticing Rean.

"Ah, you know, a little practice wouldn't hurt a bit." He replied, which reminded him.

"Still, you two also want to train here huh?" Rean asked looking at them.

"Yes, Pyrrha usually helped me train at combat, because I don't have that much experience..." Jaune said while feeling down about himself.

"I see..." While he was thinking to himself, Jaune suddenly asked him for something.

"Instructor Rean, can I ask you to teach me more about combat?" Jaune ask with a humble tone.

"I want to ask the same if you don't mind, professor. I want to know what do you mean about goal and people stronger than me." Pyrrha also asked to Rean.

"Well, I did promise to give you all some pointers, so it's no problem, but before anything, let me see both your trainings, movements, and how both of you attack" He said in which then Jaune and Pyrrha starts to train and demonstrate their skills while he sat on the sidelines.

Jaune had shown good raw strength, but he doesn't have any remarkable moveset or form, making his attack clunky and doesn't have any dynamics, but judging by what he saw on his scroll the other day about each students performance at the initiation and the forever fall assignment, he had a good leadership and also an ability connected to his aura in which most likely to amplify it.

Pyrrha on the other hand as expected shown a good experience, skill, strength and many more as like his previous spar. She was almost perfect, but she need something else if she wants to grow even further.

"Okay, stop you two, Jaune, can I see your weapons closely?" Rean asked in which Jaune then handed his weapon.

It was a sword and shield that the shield can become it's sheath and can become a two handed when the sword sheathed. Pondering for a while he then know what to do.

"Now first of all, starting with Jaune, you do realized that your weapon doesn't have a very big gimmick unlike the others which they usually have guns on them, which can be a disadvantage, the only gimmick was switching to two handed and the shield can become it's sheath." Rean stated, returning his weapon.

"Yes.., well, that sword was passed down by my great-great-grandfather. And I never mastered it since I was a child, I don't know if I should change my weapon." Jaune said a with a little pang of discomfort.

"Let me show you something." In which Rean showed his Tachi, Jaune and Pyrrha then noticed up close that there are no gimmick whatsoever, it's just a normal blade.

"Now yes, this weapon doesn't have any gimmick at all as you may noticed, and judging by what you're saying, that weapon must have a very strong durability if it still in one piece for a long time. In which any weapon your friend had would struggle to achieve that kind of durability."

This surprised Jaune and Pyrrha. One is that his instructor was able to defeat all the student with a normal blade with no gimmick at all, and two. Jaune surprised that no one ever complimented his weapon because it's not a new type of weapon, while Pyrrha now realized how very unique Jaune weapon was because of it's durability.

"But even with that case there is one thing that needed to be addresed, the gimmick in which it can turned into a greatsword makes it complicated" Rean added while holding his chin.

"Complicated how, Professor?" Pyrrha curiouslt asked asked.

"I think that along the line, one of his grandfather created that gimmick because that kind of two handed form is more comfortable to him than the sword and shield form, of course this is just my speculation." This statement made Jaune think that it could be possible, because changing forms for a different swordplay was really difficult.

"Now here is something to do, while of course you need to learn how to manuver in combats and of course I will teach you that, you need to decide for yourself."

"Decide...about what instructor?" Jaune asked.

"What kind of swordplay would you keep and would you toss."

Rean then explained by what he meant by that.

If he were to use a sword and shield form, he would become a battering ram and tanking a lot of damage and would also use parries to his arsenal , which in the long run he would become a defender type of combatant .

If he were to use a two handed form, then he would focus on dealing more damage to his enemies, becoming like a juggernaut, almost like the Arseid style or Vander style which was quite rare he sees in his students, making him an assault type of combatant.

In which both cases, his aura and strength could helped them both, but he needed to pick which type of combat he's going to use, because while it could be possible for him to use sword and shield form and the two handed altogether, it would take a long time to improve himself and would be inefective, because this isn't like the case of the other students gimmick of changing their weapon into short or long range using it's guns ability.

"You can take your time to think about choosing your form, in the meanwhile, we could train your reflexes and abilities on combat first."

"I see, I get what you mean Instructor, thank you!" Jaune said understanding what to do first. After that, Rean then looked at Pyrrha.

"Now about you Pyrrha, as I've said before, you're basicly have a good understanding in combat and techniques, but I'm going to ask you again, what is your goal in the end?"

"My goal was to become a huntress, Professor." She answered.

"That's a nice goal, but not enough." He answered while closing his eyes.

"What do you mean by not enough, professor?" Pyrrha asked in which confuses her.

"Everyone here want to be a huntress or huntsmen, but what I'm talking here are the motivation and reason behind it and your true feeling.

Some want glory, others want more power, some even wants to do it to protect others, by knowing that and focusing on that specific path, you know what to do to achieve it." Pyrrha was thinking hard about what he just said, understanding what he meant.

"I see, I think I get it now Professor, though maybe I need more time to understand it further what the underlying reason of my goal." Pyrrha replied with a small smile.

"Yes, take as much time as you need.

Now I did said you need to fight stronger enemies, for the current time you can assume that was me, helping both of you grow. So both of you, spar against me for this session for our training." He said while preparing his stance.

"YES!" Both of them said in unison as the training begun.
