Chapter 4: School

            It was Thursday of the 2nd week of November when Jonas Cane was kidnapped. November is the last month of Autumn. From December onwards, it was the beginning of the Winter Season.

Saturday morning, Jonas mother decided to accompany him at home. On the other hand, his father have gone to work. Jonas father have wanted to remain at home to accompany and support his amnesiac son but there was an emergency at the company. And his father have already excuse himself yesterday when Jonas went missing. He can't afford to excuse himself anymore since he was a department head of a company.

Jonas Cane's father was the department head of the Wayne Enterprise of the Entertainment Department. He would be part of the meeting that would happen with the other high ranking members of the Company today together with the other department heads.

Just like his father, his mother was also part of the Wayne Enterprise of the Wayne Electronics Department. Unlike his father, his mother wasn't a department head.

That's why his mother would be able to accompany him today unlike his father who was needed for today's meeting.

After the breakfast, on which did nothing to satiate Jonas appetite but just to keep appearances that there was nothing wrong with him, his mother decided to test his memories.

She was relieved that Jonas could still, read, write, and count. She was afraid that losing his memories would result on him not able to keep up with his peers.

Jonas feel a little insulted. Despite having an amnesia, he have still retained his educational knowledge.

But it was understandable that his mother was ignorant that he wasn't the original Jonas anymore. He mused what would happen if his parents learned that he wasn't the real Jonas. Would they be horrified? or angry? But for now, Jonas has no desire for it to happen.

After checking if his education is still passable as a Grade 5 student, Jonas mother was satisfied.

She then asked Jonas with a frown on her face.

" Would you like to resume your studies next week or would you just remain here at home next week? "

Oh. It was very nice of her to ask for Jonas opinion. He can feel himself growing a little bit of fond toward his new mother.

Pondering a little bit, Jonas then replied.

" I want to go to school, Mom "

His mother then revealed a fond smile.

" School it is then. I would talk to your father later about this matter and towards the Principal, Your adviser and the teachers. We would make sure that no one would take advantage of your current condition at school. "

' As expected... '

Jonas smiled wanly when his current Fear God informed him an information about Jonas. He has already expected that with his parents being doting and protective, the upbringing would result with Jonas being a spoiled child.

Jonas Cane was a menace to his school. He wondered if his parents are aware that he was a school bully.

[ All of Jonas victims of bullying keep quiet of the things that he have done to them with the exception of his classmate who have just started attending the Gotham Academy of the Elementary Level. The said student called Jonas a weak bumbling fool who uses his parents influence. Jonas was threatened by the said student. ]

' Hmmm... Interesting. '

Jonas have choose to go to school so he can feed himself. Remaining at home at next week even with the presence of the servants–  it wouldn't be enough.

If he keep scaring them, soon it would be stale and they would be eventually get used to it and lose their fear towards him.

He just can't keep standing still and stare at them forever in the dark.

Just remaining at home and eating the servants fear wouldn't be able to unlock his Eye God's other blessings and he wouldn't be able to collect enough fear so that he could also unlock his other Fear Patron God's.

His next goal was unlocking the Web Fear Goddess. (Despite being an amorphous being, since the Web is also referred as the mother, Jonas decided to address the Web as a She. )

And compared to the other fears, She appeared to be unique. From time to time she would express her opinions unlike the other Dread Gods.

If he would go to school the possibility of unlocking his next Patron is more reachable. He can go to other places once the school ended before he would return home. Maybe he can go to a pet shop and see if they have a pet spider there.

If possible he would like to buy a pet spider before going to school. Once he have gone to school, he was looking forward on reaping his food resources at the Gotham Academy.

Children after all are so easy to scary. Hopefully, they wouldn't develop any traumatic experience. Through, it would be really unavoidable if they developed a fear toward stares and spiders. Children after all have young and impressionable minds.

Would he finally feel full once he have gone to school?

Jonas was looking forward on 'studying' at Gotham Academy.

Learning that there was one student who wasn't afraid of Jonas, It makes the prospect of going to school easier and more interesting.

Later, the smile and unnerving smile on Jonas face disappeared when he imagine his classmates and teacher horrified expressions. It disappeared when his new mother took out their family photo album and showed a bunch of pictures.

Jonas Cane's childhood photos from when he was just an ugly monkey baby and during the last month. A lot of the photos there was something that Jonas wished to burn that almost made him wish that he have chosen the Desolation as his first fear god.

Specially the picture that was taken on his 4th grade during a stage play. Jonas Cane was the leading character of the story.

The current Jonas was in agreement with the mysterious new classmate of Jonas regarding the former owner of this body being a bumbling fool.

Staring at the smiling young lady with a blue ribboned long blond hair and icy blue eyes, dress in a frilled white and blue pattern dress, blue shoes and white and blue striped long socks – Jonas didn't recognize the young lady at the picture.

If it wasn't for his mother and the eye informing him.

Other than that very black history photo number 1, he wanted to burn the picture of a 6 year old Jonas Cane dress in a very cute owl costume during that years Trick or Treat.

He also then found out that Jonas favorite animal is owl just like his parents. His favorite hero was obviously Batman since he was their city's hero.

" Just say Batman towards your classmates if they asked you who's your favorite Hero so you can avoid being chastised or bullied Jonas. "

" Okay. "

They wouldn't have a change to retaliate once he have brought his pet spider at school.

His mother then keep the picture album to her side after telling him the story behind all of the pictures in the photos.

Today, the chance of burning those embarrassing childhood photos are second to none.

Since his mother have mentioned Batman to him, Jonas was reminded the fact that this world isn't ordinary. He then headed towards their library where some of their computer are placed and started researching information about Gotham. Then he started researching about Batman and his sidekick Robin and the other vigilantes of Gotham.

He came across an information about Ragman which made him smile.

But at the end of his fruitful knowledge gathering about the city and it's inhabitants, someone have caught Jonas attention.

Someone who have been famous for his use of Fear Gas.
