Chapter 13: Practice and Research

     After dinner in the Cane Manor, Jonas lay down on his bed and possesses the marionette again. He then passed on his window and didn't bother to put an impromptu rope or parkour again just like what he did last night since he discovered that he wouldn't feel any pain from the marionette. It was convenient since he didn't need to hide again the makeshift ropes that he made just like last night. Jonas then jumped down from the second floor of the manor. 10 minutes after that, he got up from the ground and climbed on the back gates of their manor where there is no guard there and the gate is completely locked.

Since Jonas can't feel any pain from the marionette, he dared to do risky moves just like climbing when doesn't know how to climb up properly.

He tried 3 times to climb the gate and fall then eventually got it. Having this kind of hands-on practice – Jonas was only of the few ones who dared to do it because of the marionette.

After leaving the Cane Manor, this time Jonas has learned his lesson and went to the forest to practice using the Human Marionette all night and until sunlight before sneaking into the Cane Manor and returning to his body. He then hides the marionette under his bed.

He has also taken precautions so that no one would approach his bedroom. Jonas made sure to request to his parents that the maids would only come to his room at weekends when it comes to general cleaning.

Uttu and Hamish stay in the room next to his bedroom and the servants are free to feed them and clean their makeshift habitats in his absence. As for the laundry, Jonas makes sure to deliver the laundry basket every day to the laundry maid.

After taking a bath, taking care of his hygiene, and changing his pajamas into Gotham Elementary uniform, he went to the dining hall where his father and mother are already watching the morning news on the large and flat-screen television.

The large and flat screen television is remote controlled and can appear and be hidden when it isn't needed. This world's technology appears to be a little advance compared to his previous ones.

" Morning Mom, and Dad. "

Jonas went to peck his mother and father's cheek before taking a seat on the empty table between them.

" Morning Jonas. "

His mother greeted him as she went to start picking up food from the different dishes in front of them and placing them on Jonas's plate. His father then went to fill him with a glass of warm milk then returned his attention to watching the television while eating.

Jonas then went to ignore the strange feeling in his chest and started eating while glancing at the television. Curious about what has his father's attention.

News about the Wayne Enterprise and then the reporters scampering around Tim Drake Wayne the current CEO. Unlike his brother Damian, Tim Drake Wayne and his other children are adopted children of Bruce Wayne. Damian and his adopted brother Tim Drake don't look like each other at all. In terms of appearance and even personality judging by the way that his brother is around reporters.

The news about the Wayne Enterprise ended and his father lose his interest in television. The news right now was about the damage to properties and infrastructures in Gotham caused by the Gotham Rogues during the breakout last week and how much money would it cost to repair the properties and infrastructures. His mother was showing displeased expression as she watched the television. Eventually, the news ended and it was then replaced by entertainment news about a release of a new movie called Paranorman. When he saw the movie, there was a trace of familiarity with it. The movie is an animated movie and the trailer looks good as it has supernatural elements.

It would be then released on Saturday. He wondered if he should go see the movie and invite Luke and Rosalie. And maybe his 3 other henchmen and Damian if he was interested. Through the latter ... Jonas expects that Damian would reject the invitation.

After breakfast, they went to their limousine car and have Jonas escorted to Gotham Elementary. Jonas went to kiss his mother and father's cheek again and wish them well.

His mother smiled at him fondly.

" Take care, Jonas. And I don't want to hear the Principal that you have brought Uttu with you. "

" I didn't. "

" Good. "

His father patted his shoulder before hugging him and letting go. His parents then went into the Car. As Jonas watched the car leave, it was now time for him to go to the classroom. He turned his head and saw Damian watching him in the distance which was interesting and also strange.

He decided to wave his hand at him then Damian ignored him. Jonas shrugged and decided that it was now library time again.

And it was now also time for him to start his research on rituals. Jonas was uncertain about how should he proceed on the web ritual.

[ The web prefers the world as it is. There is no recorded ritual for the web. ]

' Thanks, Eye Fear God. You have only given me more headache. '

If there was no recorded ritual. Jonas sighed. How should he proceed so he can unlock his Web Fear Goddess?

Jonas was startled by the Web while he was deep in thought. But then he has an idea.

He has already noticed that the Web is the most active when it comes to communicating with him even though Jonas hasn't still chosen the Web as his patron, through the end is secondary which pops out from time to time but there was a big gap between them in terms of expressing their will to communicate with him.

' As long it is significant to the web and the web likes it, would the ritual work? '

Eventually, Jonas left the library and head toward their classroom 5 minutes before the history subject started. There was a bright smile on his face as he looked forward to preparing all of the things he needed for the web ritual.
