AN: Yep, another Self Insert Fanfic again. This time, It was the TMA, The Magnus Archives crossover with Batman. It was a very amazing podcast. I listened to it again from Christmas to New Year. And recently, I have also fallen into Batman Fandom... And I decided to create this fanfic since I can't get it out of my head.

For those who don't know Magnus Archives, It was about a supernatural institution that deals with supernatural encounters related to fear of eldritch entities. The protagonist Jon Sims was the archivist of the Magnus Archives Institution and he takes the statements of the people who encounter supernatural events regarding the fear entities. Based on the podcast and Smirke's designation, there are 14 fears. The Eye, Stranger, Buried, Corruption, Web, Dark, Desolation, End, Flesh, Hunt, Vast, Slaughter, Spiral, Stranger, and Lonely. ( I am not good with explanations so I am sorry if it was too brief and short. )

Chapter 1: Archivist System

      Midnight. Within the secluded part of Aparo Park, a 12-year-old child opened his eyes.

       When the child opened his eyes, he found himself experiencing a lot of pain around his body.

       [ Welcome, Avatar to Gotham City ]

Then there was a strange thought that he can hear inside his mind. Is he going crazy? After carefully digesting the message from a mysterious monotone voice, he frowned. He can't understand why the mysterious voice called him Avatar, but he was certain that Gotham is a fictional place and it wasn't supposed to exist.

But then he wondered why he thought that Gotham City wasn't a real place. He was now confused.

The more that he delve into his thoughts, the more he concluded that he was going crazy or that something is wrong with him.

Aside from the pain that he was experiencing right now, it seems that he can't move his body to his wishes. He can only open his eyes and stare at the plain white ceiling until the mysterious monotone voice spoke again inside his mind.

[ You have been granted a new start and chosen to wield the Archivist System. ]

'Archivist System?'

The monotone voice didn't answer his inquiry and merely continued.

[ Please choose you starting Patron.

As he listened, he was growing more and more confused. And he was also starting to get afraid. His mind, there was something wrong with them and he was missing a lot of things.

[ Choose your Patron ]

The mysterious voice merely ignored his plight and he was starting to get annoyed by it. Nonetheless, he felt that he shouldn't ignore the mysterious voice even if it was just a mere hallucination conjured by his mind. Deciding to entertain the mysterious voice, he then asked if it was possible to get more information about the choices.

' What's the Flesh? '

[ Patron: Flesh
Alias: Viscera

Fear: Body Horror, Dysmorphia, Being killed for meat, Being eaten

Manifestations: Meat, Corpses, Blood, Bones, Butchers, Meat related industries, Cannibalism ]

The mysterious voice or as it introduced itself before the Archivist System then finally responded. After hearing the information, he grimaced.

If he would choose this so-called 'Patron', he thought that he doesn't want the Flesh as his first choice.

He then asked about the Corruption and Buried

Alias: Filth, The Crawling Rot

Fear: Mysophobia, Verminophobia, Bacteriophobia, Trypophobia

Manifestations: Mould, bugs, rot, decay, infection, unhealthy love, and companionship. ]

[ Patron: Buried
Alias: Centre, Choke, Too Close, I cannot breathe, forever deep, below creation

Fear: Claustrophobia, being trapped, suffocating, drowning

Manifestations: deep water, debt/financial issues, dirt/earth, tight spaces, caves, coffins, graves ]

After thinking about the information provided, he also doesn't want his patron to be Corruption and Buried.

Even though he was just entertaining his hallucination, there was a thought that he was supposed to think of this matter seriously.

As he read the information provided by the Archivist System, it seems that the system deals with this patron who was responsible for Fears. Would these patrons give him something if he choose them? That's what a patron is supposed to do right, just like when they choose their muse.

Maybe one of these patrons would be able to help him to know what is wrong with him.

He then curiously asked about the Stranger and Spiral.

Fears: The uncanny, not knowing

Manifestations: Mannequins, dolls, wax figures, taxidermy, skin, theatre, performance, masks ]

[ Patron: Spiral
Alias: The Twisting Deceit

It Is Not What It Is

Fears: Madness, Gaslighting, Your mind lying to you, False Friendships

Manifestations: Fractals, patterns, spirals, insomnia, hallucinations, mazes, doors ]

It wasn't what he also need either. He was already missing something and confused, he thought that choosing between the two of these patrons wouldn't help him with his problem.

He then asked about the Hunt, Dark, and End.

Fears: Being chased, being prey

Manifestations: Monsters, predators, animal instincts, animalistic traits ]

[ Patron: Dark
Alias: Mr. Pitch, Forever Blind

Fears: Darkness (scotophobia), what lies within the dark

Manifestations: Dark water, blindness, coldness, a creature within the dark ]

[ Patron: End
Alias: Death, Terminus
The Coming End That Waits For All And Cannot Be Ignored

Fears: Death

Manifestations: Bones, the dead, dreams, game pieces ]

It wasn't also within these 3 either. After a while, he decided to ask the Archivist System.

' Which of the 14 Patrons is a good choice? '

He waited for a few minutes. After waiting, he thought that he was ignored again but the Archivist System whispered in his mind about the Eye and Web.

Fears: Scopophobia (Being watched), ommetaphobia (Eyes), having secrets revealed, horrible knowledge, being exposed.

Manifestations: Eyes, books, libraries, security cameras, tape recorders, a figure that keeps constant watch. ]

Alias: Spider, Great Spider, The Mother of Puppets, Mother, Spinner of Schemes, The Story Spinner, The Hidden Machination

Fears: Arachnophobia, Fear of being controlled

Manifestations: Webs, web patterns, weaving, marionettes, spiders, addiction, tape recorders ]

After hearing the information about the eye and the web, he finally decided to choose his patron.

' I choose the Eye. '

[ You have chosen the Eye as your first patron. Congratulations on becoming the Avatar of the Eye. ]

[ From now on, you are no longer a human but an Avatar of the Eye Patron. ]

[ The Eye grants information about your current situation. ]

[ You are currently missing your memories and occupying the body of a 12-year-old child named Jonas Cane who died at the hands of a murderer. ]

[ It's been 3 hours since Jonas Cane died and 2 days since he was kidnapped. ]

As the different information assaulted his mind, he finally concluded that he wasn't hallucinating.

The Archivist System and Patrons are real.
