IT was the next day around twelve and aubrey had been thinking about what to wear to the interview. she couldn't sleep that much last night due to her nerves. she had never had a job before and she never done an interview so she wasn't sure what to wear. her mother had picked out a bunch of outfits for her saying she 'needed to look her best.' which she didn't disagree with but she just wanted to go in something she was comfortable in.

she got fresh out of the shower with her hair and body wrapped in her towel. which to mention had her name stitched into the bottom right corner, courtesy of her father. the outfits her mother chose she just threw them on the grown and opened her closet doors. aubrey's closet really consisted of the colors white and pink. she never liked anything to be dull she loved bright colors and fashion was her way to express herself.

after about 15 minutes her floor was covered in various tops, dresses, skirts, and shoes. she overlooked her outfit and smiled to herself. she wore a matching pink top and bottom set. she paired the outfit with black platform sandals. she had also layered a bunch of gold necklaces. aubrey sat down at her vanity and straightened her jet black hair and added neural makeup.

aubrey grabbed her purse out of the closet and texted her parents that she was on the way to her interview. they both sent encouraging messages and she locked her phone and headed out the front door. she hopped in her car and on the way she was.

-

the store was loud with voices and registers scanning. lines were down the isles and if she was honest all of this was a bit intimidating to aubrey. she looked over to her right and saw a desk that said 'customer service' so she headed to it. while walking over she caught many older men watching her step by step. it was kind of uncomfortable but for some reason it made her feel powerful. there was no one at the desk but there was a bunch of papers scattered around it. she just scrolled aimlessly on her phone until she heard a voice come around the corner.

"hello sweetie may i help you?" a dark hair girl spoke.

she had a deep southern accent and couldn't be any older than aubrey herself. she was a couple inches shorter than her but she knew if she took of her shoes they'd be the same height. the girl kept her brown eyes trained on aubrey and her facial expression showed that she was not fond of aubrey.

"uh yeah i'm here for an interview with mrs. jones." aubrey says.

"melissa there's a girl here waiting for an interview." the girl says into her headset.

"what's your name?"

"aubrey garcia." she says.

"alright go around the corner here and her office will be right there with the door open." the girl says and walks away.

aubrey already knew that she wasn't going to like the girl. she knew the girl was in a higher position than her so she knew she had to place nice. aubrey of course was use to so many girls like this in middleton. it did bother her a bit because she was really hoping to meet someone nice here who could become a best friend. aubrey's never really had one because people would just use her for her parents money and the trips. which did really hurt aubrey because she was you with so much love to give.

"good morning aubrey come in sit down for me. oh and close the door." the blonde says.

aubrey did as she was told and closed the office door.

-

"alright how does starting monday sound?" melissa asks.

"sounds great to me!" aubrey says and stands.

"you're going to love it here aubrey! if you ever have any issues just make sure you come to me. i know it's your first job so i don't want it to be too hard on you."

"thank you mrs. jones that means so much to me." aubrey says.

"please aubrey call me melissa no need for all of that. i want you to feel comfortable here but of course always have respect for me." melissa says with a laugh.

"you got it melissa" aubrey says then smiles.

"alright i'll send you an email with the information and i'll see you this monday!"

"okay thank you again." aubrey says.

she walks out of the office with a big smile. even though she wasn't very fond of the idea of working, aubrey was honestly very proud of herself. she was the most excited to tell her father. also she was really hoping that this would take off all the pressure that the people in the town and her mother has put on her. she just wanted to show everyone that she was just a normal eighteen year old girl in a small town. she began texting her father to inform him when she ran straight into a strong chest. this knocked her back which made her drop her phone face fist one the ground. she squatted down to grab her phone and so did the person.

"oh shit i'm sorry honey." a male voice says.

aubrey looked up at the man and she felt her breath get caught in her throat. she's seen many attractive boys in her days, but this man was something different. he had a look of concern in his eye which made his eyebrows furrow. he had warm chocolate brown eyes that gave aubrey a feeling of comfort. his tongue snaked out to wet his pink lips and then a smile played on his lips. his teeth were a perfect shade of white which ironically matched the white in his beard. he took aubrey's phone in his hand and they both stood together.

"good thing it didn't shatter huh?" he asked with that smile still sitting on his lips.

she nodded with now another smile on her face. aubrey was never intimidated by a man which she had been taught her whole life by her mother. once again though there was something about this man that made her actually feel something she's never felt. she had then remembered that this was the same voice she heard on the phone that made her so flustered. aubrey brought herself back to reality when she realized she was still in the middle of the grocery store. she looked around to see if anyone had caught the interaction but everyone was too busy caught up in conversation.

"jeffrey i see you have met our new hire! this right here is ms. aubrey garcia." melissa says appearing next to the duo.

"well nice to meet you aubrey. when's your first day of this shit show?" he asks with a chuckle.

melissa slaps his arm and gives him a warning look then walks off.

"it's m-monday sir." aubrey says.

mentally she was slapping herself. she hated appearing affected by people it made her weak. another lesson her mother had taught her. it made her feel like jeffrey had control over her. which she knew he did but she would never dare admit it.

"fantastic! i will be here and i can't wait to train you. i'll make it as fun as i can sweetheart." he says with a wink.

"alright i'll see you then. you have a good day sir." she says then hurries past him.

aubrey couldn't get to her car fast enough. once she got in her front seat she sat down took a deep breath. she couldn't get the image of his smile out of her head. his dark brown eyes staring into her identical once and his salt and pepper beard that looked perfect on him. older men had always been aubrey's preference but she had never met anyone who looked like him. she was still upset with herself for acting like a deer in headlights. that was so unlike her and it frustrated her. aubrey rarely had crushes on her boys in her town because the options were not really the best out there. all they wanted was a pretty girl on their arm that would help fuel their egos.

when it went around that aubrey was a virgin there were lines of boys lining up for her trying to get to her. there would be boys who would dm her and try not to make it that obvious that they just wanted to take her virginity. however, there was the majority that made it known that that's all they wanted and it just made aubrey laugh at how weak they were. at the same time she thought about how weak she was by the way she acted with jeffrey.

aubrey started up her car and blasted music to attempt getting rid of jeffrey from her mind, just until monday rolled around.
