AUBREY GARCIA has always been seen as the towns celebrity. she was what all the boys wanted and what all the girls wanted to be. she knew that she had the entire town in her hand and she pretty much controlled everything. she influenced the trends, what people posted on social media, even how people acted. she thought it was weird though. she's only 18 and everyone acts like she someone who's actually famous for something. she'd go out to the store that was about five minutes from her house and everyone would watch her and people would come up and talk to her and compliment her hair, outfit, nails, anything they could see.

aubrey had been use to the attention her whole life. she was an only child and her parents main goal at the end of every day was to make sure their little girl was happy. she loved her parents she really did, but being in the spotlight and held to a high standard was tiring. her mother always told her that she'd appreciate this pressure and attention in the long run. she knew her mother was right but she didn't want to admit it. her father was always traveling but whenever he came home he'd always make sure to see her. she felt more comfortable with her father than her mother.

she loved the town of millington but hated it at the same time. she loved the sunsets and how quiet the city was at night. she loved when the elders would greet her and ask how she was doing or how school was. not because she was 'aubrey garcia' they did it because the just cared about the young girl.

with all of the compliments and praise of course came the haters. one in particular, maya thompson. aubrey never really understood why maya hated her so much. since junior year of high school maya taunted aubrey about everything she did. she even went as far as to making a page as an "anonymous" person from their high school to bully her. aubrey is a strong girl but it did break her heart to see the things that were posted and what the comments said. aubrey tried keeping at a secret from her mother but word spreads so of course she found out. she never confronted maya but to this day she wish she did.

"ma! don't make me please!" aubrey wined with a mouth full of food.

"sweetheart i know you've been use to this lifestyle but you have to start growing up and get a job. it's only for the summer." her mother says.

"but i don't want to waste my summer just sitting in a grocery store scanning food all day." aubrey says.

she knew she sounded like a spoiled brat but summer was her favorite time of year. she never had to worry about school or being the focus of everyone's attention. it was just her, her parents, and milo their dog. they'd usually travel up and down the coast and go out of the country for certain occasions. she never really had friends so family was really all she knew.

"aub you can use this money for when you go off to school. it's 3 months you're gonna be fine. maybe it'll help you to open up and maybe meet a boy." her mother says raising her eyebrows.

"yes ma because my soulmate is gonna walk into larry's superstore." aubrey says and rolls her eyes.

"glad you have the spirit! go ahead and call them so you can set up an interview. marie said that they were expecting you to call soon." her mother says.

aubrey sighs and gets up from the table heading to her room. she did feel bad because marie was a really sweet old lady who had been pretty much aubrey's saving grace when they moved to colorado. she laid down onto her beg googling the stores phone number. the phone dialed and she waited then chose the number option to get to customer service.

"thank you for calling larry's superstore! this is jeffrey speaking how may i help you?" a male voice said.

the mans voice was husky and deep, for some reason it intimidated aubrey. she began to speak but the words couldn't come out. she never had phone anxiety so she didn't know why she was so nervous.

"hello is anyone there?" he said again.

"h-hi sorry. i um was r-referred this job by ms. marie. she told me to call as soon i could. my name's aubrey."

she cursed herself silently for stuttering so bad. she felt sweat starting to build up under her arms.

"yes ma'am she just left about a hour ago and said that we should be expecting a call. do you think you could come in for an interview around 2:15 tomorrow?" jeffrey says.

"y-yes that's fine!" she stutters out.

"alright great honey! when you come in make sure you ask for mrs. jones." he says.

"okay thank you." she says and then hangs up.

aubrey let's out a deep breath and throws her phone across her bed. little did she know that the man behind the phone would lead her into a new life she wasn't expecting.
