Everyone was running.

Away from what, you hadn't bothered to remember at this point. Your heart was pounding in your chest, the cold nights air whipping at your face harshly.

Their legs were carrying them as fast as possible, but it seems that yours weren't fast enough. You tripped and stumbled, barely keeping up right and close to your friends. There was suddenly screaming, a shout to take another route to confuse him.

Him.

Who's him?

You hesitated, feet beginning to feel like they were too big for your shoes. They throbbed, tired from all the running. You glanced over your shoulder, trying to get a peek at who was chasing everyone. Your eyes could barely see through the fog, but eventually a figure emerged, a supernatural creature you had never seen before stood before you with a knife held tightly in his right hand.

Sense seemed to suddenly kick back in, and before you even had time to think your legs were carrying you in the direction of where you thought your friends had gone. You cut into the forest, shoes stomping on damp leaves and sticks as you went.

You weaved through trees and bushes, trying to figure out where your friends had gone, but it was useless. They were gone.

You kept running, refusing to give up hope. They had to be out there somewhere, you told yourself.

It was sometime later and you were still running, though the snapping of a stick under someones foot caused you to stop in your tracks.

"H-Hello?" You called, but there was no answer. Nothing but crickets and owls called back.

Snap.

You spun around just in time to see someone running toward you. A shriek left your lips, but it was soon cut off when the person placed their hand over your mouth. You struggled against their hold, thrashing your arms and legs until they finally spoke.

"Hey, shh," The voice was soft, comforting almost. "Its just me."

Your eyes snapped open, body going limp when you realized you were in Scott's arms. You ripped his hand from your mouth and immediately wrapped your arms around his neck. You couldn't remember the last time you were this happy to see someone.

"Come on," He urged, hesitantly pulling away from the embrace. "We have to get going, its not safe here."

He placed a hand on your back, urging you to start running again. And although your feet wanted to protest, you pushed on.

Scott and yourself ran and ran until you could finally see an opening in the trees. You pushed yourself to the very limit, giving it the last of your energy as you sprinted to the opening. You ran right out into the middle of a road, and you were so busy trying to catch your breath that you didn't hear the sound of a car approaching, nor did you hear Scott's shrieks to get out of the way.

Everything seemed to slow down, the world being switched into slow motion when you finally turned around. The car was barely a meter away from you, and you didn't have enough time to move before it hit you, and everything went black.

Your eyes suddenly snapped open, bright lights from the room making you squeeze them shut again.

Your body ached, and in some places you were even in pain. It was then though when you could feel the weight of someone else's hand grasping gently onto your own.

You opened your eyes again, squinting into the light until they finally adjusted. You glanced down, and you saw Scott with his hand intertwined with yours, head resting against the edge of your bed while he snored softly.

You couldn't quite remember how you got in the hospital, it all become a haze in the back of your mind. You remember running though, the rest seemed nonexistent.

A gentle squeeze brought you out of your thoughts, and you glanced over to see Scott sitting up now.

"Thank God you're okay," He whispered, his thumb absentmindedly rubbing itself over the front of your hand. "I've been worried sick."

"What are you doing here?" You found yourself asking, but then you furrowed your eye brows. "What am I doing here?"

"We were running from supernatural creature. He's been sorted out now but while we were running you ran out onto the road and got hit by a car," He explained, and your memories started flooding back. "God, Shayla, when I saw you hit the windshield of that car and all the blood... I thought I'd lost you. I-I can't loose you. Not now, not ever. I love you, okay? I love you so much, and I'm never going to let anything like this happen to you ever again."

You felt as though the breath had been sucked from your lungs, and you almost couldn't believe the words that were slipping from his lips. But you found yourself nodding at him, and ever so slowly, he began to lean closer to you.

You pushed yourself away from your pillow, and met his lips halfway.

First it was like a spark had been let off in the pit of your tummy, but it soon turned into a full blown flame, a bonfire pulsing inside of you; and if this is what it was going to be like every time he kissed you, then you sure wouldn't mind doing it more often.
