Home - Derek Imagine (Alternate Ending)

A/n: As promised, here is the alternate ending <3

As you'll see, it is pretty much the same to begin with, but some things have been changed so it may pay to just read it all x

*

After three of the longest months you had ever had to endure your boyfriend, Derek, was finally returning from his time in the army. He hadn't called in a fair while, which was quite unusual seeing as though he called as often as possible, but you tired not to think about it too much. He had a lot to think about when in the war, a simple phone call you thought wouldn't exactly be the first thing to cross his mind.

Pulling yourself away from the breakfast you couldn't bring yourself to eat, you pottered into the lounge room, falling down onto the couch before there was a sudden knock on the front door.

You immediately jumped up, thinking Derek had come home early. Your heartbeat picked up as you reached the door, though when you actually pulled it open your smiling boyfriend didn't stand there.

Instead, a man dressed in uniform stood there. He looked quite familiar, but you merely brushed the thought away as you feel tears forming behind your eyes.

"(Y/n) (Y/L/N)?" He asked. Again, his voice was vaguely familiar, but you didn't think about it for too long, and nodded slowly at him instead; your breath immediately catching in your throat.

Derek's green army jacket was folded up neatly, resting on the mans glove-clad hands and extended slower arms. Your eyes crept up to the mans face again, his features dropped as he stared back at you.

"I'm so sorry," He spoke softly, handing over the jacket. "But he's come home early."

Your eyes flicked back up to the man who stood before you, mouth forming an 'o' shape as you finally figured out who he really was. It was Scott dressed up, and he gave it all away when a large smile formed on his lips and he dropped the hat that was sitting on top of his head.

Suddenly, someone emerged from behind Scott, and you immediately recognized the figure as he pushed past Scott to get to you.

Derek pulled you to him, wrapping his arms tightly around your waist as you wrapped yours around his neck.

"Your home." You sobbed, smiling brightly as you buried your head in Derek's neck, breathing in the sweet scent that was your boyfriend. You kept squeezing onto his shirt every now and then as he held you, just to make sure he was actually there, and this wasn't some stupid dream.

But each time you squeezed, the same familiar feeling of him beneath you was still there, and then you finally realized that he really had come home.
