Caught Off Guard - Scott Imagine

The two of you were lying around on the lounge room floor, underneath a heap of blankets and pillows that were tossed there earlier that day. You were having a lazy day, something that you cherished most with your boyfriend. It seemed that he was always off fighting the supernatural these days, so getting to spend quality time with him was something special.

A silence settled between the two of you, covering the two of you like the fluffy blanket you were currently snuggled underneath, but neither if you minded. It seemed to bring a sense of calmness through the two of you.

When his hand that was on your back rubbing comforting circles onto the area suddenly stopped, you glanced up to look at him, eyes flicking over his soft features while you tried to figure out what he could possibly be thinking about. His eyes were glued to the roof, the hand on your back warming the area it had stopped.

"What're you thinking about?" You asked, his eyes finally leaning the roof to lock with yours. He simply looked at you, blinking tiredly while he seemed to think about what to say.

"I can't wait to marry you one day," He'd suddenly announced, and it caught you so off guard that you stopped breathing for a split second. With your continuous silence, he began to grow worried while he immediately thought the worse, shaking his head gently as he began to speak again, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said such a thing. Just... just pretend I didn't say anything, okay?"

Your heart dropped, immediately moving so that you were propped up on your elbow, head resting in your palm, "N-No! I was just caught off guard, is all. I-I can't wait to marry you one day, too."

"Really?"

You nodded happily at him, watching as his face lit up like a child's on Christmas. The hand he had on your back began to move again, up and down the length of your back while rubbing different shapes onto the area. You let your head fall back onto his chest, breathing in his scent that smelt oddly of pizza and fabric softener.

"I really love you, you know that right?"

You nodded against his chest, smiling to yourself as the three little words still managed to give you butterflies. "I know," You sighed. "I love you, too."
