Brett Imagine (For @internxtkid)

Request: She's the new girl at school and they develop a crush on each other and he asks her out after they win a lacrosse game.

P.s I wrote this imagine before I remembered that Brett doesn't attend Beacon Hills high, but I couldn't be bothered changing it so just go with it shhh

The first time you saw him was on your first day at Beacon Hills High.

You were aimlessly wandering the school's grounds and attempting to memorize the paths of the unfamiliar place. Your eyes scanned the area, not fully understanding where you were but not minding either.

It was then when you caught sight of a boy sitting on the grass, a lacrosse stick sitting on his lap while he fiddled with the top of it. You suddenly realized that you had indeed stopped walking to admire him, but you couldn't bring yourself to take your eyes off him.

There was something about how he looked so peaceful just sitting there that drew you to him, and just as you had thoughts about approaching him, his head slowly began to rise. You began to panic.

He'd caught you staring at him.

You only caught his gaze for a brief moment before you were rushing away, mentally scolding yourself as you went.

He watched on as you weaved through the crowd, desperate to get away from the area. And if only you had held his gaze just that little bit longer, you would have seen him smiling at you.

The second time was while you were out and about, walking the streets for no real reason other than you wanted to get out of the house for a while.

It was a beautiful day, the birds were out and about singing their songs, the sun hot on your back.

As you walked, you seemed to zone out while watching your feet as they dragged against the pavement. The world around you seemed to grow quiet, and it was only when you suddenly collided with another body that all the surrounding sounds seem to come back.

You went tumbling back, barely keeping your balance as you stumbled on your feet. A strong hand clasped itself around your upper arm, helping you regain yourself. You let out a huff, going to thank and apologize to the stranger, but you were caught short when you get a look at their face.

The boy who had caught you staring at him some days earlier was standing before you, smiling down at you.

"Hi." He greeted, and his smile only seemed to grow. "I'm Brett. I believe I saw you around school?"

You immediately began to blush, laughing awkwardly while thinking back to the day, "Uh, yeah. I'm Abi. I'm new to the town."

He nodded at you, still smiling, "Well, Abi, I'd love to get to know you more, but I really have to go. Maybe I'll see you around school again?"

"Yeah, okay." You replied, and with one last smile Brett walked away, leaving you standing there thinking that maybe staring at the boy like you did wasn't a bad thing after all.

The third time you saw him was a Friday night.

Your friend Stiles had invited you to watch one of their lacrosse games. You had easily agreed, not being able to deny that boy of anything.

He had picked you out the best spot on bleachers, then proceeded to wave excessively to you when he returned to his team. You let out a laugh, waving back at your friend.

You gave the team a look over, noticing a few familiar faces. You then glanced over at the opposing team, and your eyes went wide when you noticed Brett among the other players. You locked eyes with him, and it was only moments before his lips tugged up into a small smile.

You blushed, breaking eye contact to glance down at the ground. Your heartbeat picked up, and you found yourself smiling to yourself, but you couldn't bring yourself to send it Brett's way.

The sound of a whistle brought your head back up, and the teams had began the game.

You watched Stiles play for a while, but your eyes eventually locked on Brett's playing form. He currently had the ball, held carefully in his stick while he headed toward the goal. Stiles' team chased after him, but he skillfully dodged each of them and threw the ball straight into the goal.

His team celebrated, giving each other high fives and pats on the back. As they were returning to their places, Brett glanced your way, sending you a toothy grin before jogging to his place on the field.

It was like this for the rest of the game, him sending you smiles whenever he could catch your eye. Brett and yourself had talked since that day you ran into him on the streets, though you could never seem to pass the small talk. Maybe it was just his way to get to know you a little better, you think.

When the game was over, and Brett's team had won, you had begun to make your way off the bleachers to go and give Stiles a comforting pat on the back, but it was then when you caught sight of Brett walking toward you.

"Congratulations!" You smiled as he stopped in front of you. "You guys did great."

"Thanks," He grinned, moving a hand up to wipe the sweat off his forehead. "Listen, I was just wondering if you wanted to uh, go out with me maybe? I think your really great and all... and its been really nice getting to know you these past couple of days. Yeah, I dunno... its probably stupid."

You giggled shyly, shaking your head at the boy, "No, its not stupid! I like you, Brett. And I'd love to go out with you."

He let out a sigh of relief, the smile returning to his lips, "Did you maybe want to go get ice cream with me? I know this place that stays open late."

"Sounds perfect." You answered, following the boy way from the field while realizing that yeah, getting caught staring at him wasn't such a bad thing after all.
