"SON OF A BITCH," DUSTIN YELLED
out as he flipped the sofa cushions in the room where his mum was watching some news story about a police chase.

Bea walked in, leaning against the door and putting her hands in the pockets of her apron. Dustin threw a penny across the room and their mum sighed.

"Dusty, watch it! You almost hit mews," she said and Bea sighed.

"Can I check under your cushions?" He asked their mum and she sighed in annoyance, standing up, still cradling the cat in her arms.

"Beatrice, what are you wearing?" Her mum asked and Bea sighed, spinning around in an overdramatic fashion.

"An apron mum, I'm making dinner," Bea said and her mum smiled at her, sitting back down on the chair once Dustin had found more money.

"Love you Mum," he said before running out and passing Bea into his room.

"Lucas you copy, I've got four quarters, whats your haul," Dustin said as he sat on his bed, holding the coins in his hand.

Bea walked in, wiping her hands on her apron, "How many you need?" Bea asked Dustin as she held out 10 quarters in her hand. He smiled, jumping up and grabbing them.

"Thanks Bea, I dont know what I'd do without you," Dustin said and Bea laughed.

"I'll drive us," she said and he scoffed.

"We'll bike," he rebuted and Bea sighed, giving in.

"Give me 5, I'll meet you in the garage," Bea said and she told mum that there was a quiche in the kitchen and that they would be back soon.

WHEN THEY GOT THERE, WILL AND
Joyce pulled up and the boys all walked in, leaving Bea alone outside.

She laughed, walking in to see that they were already crowded around one of the games and she walked up to one of the arcade games. Keith was standing near her brother talking so she walked over and saw Dustin annoyed at the dig dug game.

"Noooo," Dustin screamed out as he realised that his high score had been taken by Madmax.

"751,300 points, thats impossible," Will said and Bea walked over, leaning over Wills shoulder.

"Who is madmax? Dustin asked Keith who stuffed another cheese in his mouth.

"Better than you," he said and Bea sighed.

"You want information, I need something in return," Keith said as he swallowed his food, looking over at Bea.

"No, no, no way!" Bea said in a creeped out tone.

"Oh come on, just one date," Dustin said and Bea scoffed, turning to look at her brother in confusion.

"I'm not prostituting myself!" Bea yelled.

In the midst of arguing they didn't notice Will walk off towards the door. Mike saw and rushed out, leaving Lucas to argue with Keith about it.

The gang spent the rest of the night there and got back late that night to see their mum asleep on the sofa. Mews was on her lap and Bea opened the fridge to see two slices of quiche left. Bea sighed and placed the food on the table, looking at her brother.

BEA PULLED UP ON HER CAR TO
school, seeing Steve and Nancy kissing in the car. She banged on the window and they both got out.

Just as Steve was about to say something a loud car pulled up so they both stared at it.

The license plate said california and two people jumped out. One of them was a ginger young girl who skated off and the other was a boy around their age who threw his cigarette on the floor before winking at Bea.

"Looks like you got an admirer Bea," Steve said and she scoffed at him.

Even though it had been a year since the accident but she still hated how he stopped calling her Bear around Nancy.

"Yeah, it's almost like he thinks he could handle all of this," she said, running her hands down her body jokingly and Steve laughed, Nancy standing quiet in the corner and not saying much as she leaned against Steves car.

"You two are coming to this," Nancy said as she shoved a flyer into Jonathans hand, looking over at Bea.

"Come and get sheet faced," Jonathan read aloud from the poster and Bea laughed.

"I don't think they realise I dont drink," she said and Jonathan shook his head to signal that he was not coming to the Halloween party.

"I can't let the two of you sit home all Halloween, that's just not acceptable," Nancy said and Bea smiled.

"Well we aren't, we are going trick or treating with the boys," she said and Nancy scoffed.

"All night?" She questioned, as if they were lying about it.

"Yeah" Jonathan said and Nancy shook her head.

"No, you two are going to be home by 8.00, listening to the talking heads or watching Nightmare on Elm Street for the 34th time this month," Nancy suggested and Jonathan shrugged his shoulders before wrapping his arms around Bea's shoulders.

"Sounds like a nice night," Bea said and Jonathan nodded his head in agreement.

"Just come, I mean, who knows, you might even, like, meet someone, or you two will hook up," she said and they both looked at each other disgusted.

Just as they were about to say something back at Nancy her boyfriend, the one and only, Steve Harrington walked over and grabbed Nancy from behind, a shriek escaping her as he did so.

Jonathan took this time to escape and Bea just stood there, waiting for Nancy. But as soon as she did they started kissing so she cleared her throat and the two pulled apart.

Steve noticed she was there and put his glasses back on, "Sorry Bea,' he said and Nancy watched as Jonathan walked off.

After that lesson Steve asked if he could come over after school to work on his college essay and she agreed, promising to meet him at 6 that night at her house.

AFTER SCHOOL, BEA AND JONATHAN drove over to the local video rental store and walked in and scanning the aisles.

"What did you want to get?" Bea asked and Jonathan's head popped over the aisle.

"Something that Will will like but Bob also wants to watch," he said and Bea grabbed Mr Mom and held it up.

"Bob seems like this kind of guy, he'll like it," Bea said as she walked round the corner, putting it on the stack of movies that Jonathan had picked up including Jaws and Risky Business.

"You want to come over tonight, Bob literally seems to think you're his other kid," Jonathan suggested and Bea smiled at the sentiment.

"I would but Steve needs help on his essay, I'm not going to college so I don't need to bother," she explained and Jonathan smiled at her bedore holding up American Graffiti.

"Steve seems like this kind of guy," he said and Bea laughed, taking the movie off of him. Jonathan dropped her back off at her night after they picked up the movies and payed for them.

Bea arrived home and Steve pulled up at about the same time. He followed her to the house, both of them making small talk as Bea opened the door.

"You have your essay?" She asked as she sat on the sofa, happy her mum was in the other room.

"Yeah," he said, handing her the paper that Nancy had scribbled on earlier. She sighed, reading through it, not even noticing the intense look Steve was giving her as she stuck her tongue out in concentration.

"So?" Steve said as Bea placed the papers back on the table.

"Can I write on it?" She asked and he nodded his head so Bea reached over the table and grabbed a red pen. She circled the part about his grandads experience in the war.

"Ok, contrary to what Nancy said, I think this bit should stay," she said before crossing out another bit, "But I do agree, this bit should go," she said and Steve allowed her to highlight and cross words out.

After he had managed to rewrite it all Bea read it again.

"I think it works, it's really you," she said smiling at him.

"Yeah, well I couldn't have done it without you,' he said and Bea just laughed.

"Ok, reward. Ice cream and American Graffiti?" She asked as she stood up, leaning against the door to the kitchen.

"Deal, I think I deserve it," Steve said and Bea shook her head laughing as he followed her into the kitchen, both of them rummaging through the fridge.

Dustin biked home, walking inside to see Bea sitting in the couch next to Steve, both of them scoffing down the bowl of ice cream.

"Harrison Ford is so sexy," Bea said and Steve just laughed before the two noticed Dustin was standing there.

"Hey, whats up?" Bea asked and Dustin smiled before the credits started rolling. Dustin walked off into his bedroom after small talk and Steve checked the time.

"I should go, its getting late, thanks again for the help," he said and Bea smiled at him,

"Its fine, maybe you'll get into a nice college," she suggested and Steve looked at her confused.

"You don't want to go to a college?" He asked and she shook her head.

"Hopper has basically promised me a job in the police force once I get out of school, plus, there's not much to learn about it at college," Bea said as she walked to the door with Steve.

"Right, well see you tomorrow Bea," he said and Bea smiled at him,

"Yeah see you tomorrow,' she said, watching him drive off.
