"Amazing, right?" Jihee said, eating the pasta that she ordered. "Imagine planning the downfall of your rival only to find out the love of your life comes from the same bloodline."

Swallowing the pasta in Jungwon's mouth, he frowned. "Why is he even planning for their downfall anyway?"

"Any guess?"

He could only base his guesses on television shows he's watched growing up. "Did the girl's family do something bad to the guy's?"

She stopped eating after that, wiping her mouth with a napkin. "In a way, that's correct. Their family once got along very well, they always had each other back then but someone got too greedy and stabbed their closest friend in the back for money. That backstabber turned out to be the girl's great grandfather, and the guy's family struggled a lot after that. It was only in this generation was their glory restored."

"Oh."

He thought about their circumstances, if the betrayal never happened, would the couple be happier than they are now? It felt unfair that they were carrying a family grudge that they had no involvement. But what the guy was feeling is valid, simply because his family was the one stabbed in the back while the girl's lived lavishly thanks to the money they stole.

He repeated the words Jihee said earlier. "Fate really is horrible."

They stayed a little longer in the cafe because Jihee claimed nothing interesting was happening at that very moment. And besides she was preoccupied with her phone and messing with Jungwon because of the text he received from Jay about them playing basketball.

"Are you really good at it? Like do you do amazing stunts?" She asked to mess with him.

He rolled his eyes. "Do I really look like someone who do stunts?"

She smiled mischievously. "Guess I'd just have to watch you play." She rested her head on her palm, staring at him as if she was planning to watch him play basketball no matter what.

"Until when are we going to wait?" He asked when he realized they haven't left after an hour.

She looked at her phone. "We have a few more hours to spare. I normally just walk around to be honest when I wait for something to happen. It's also like this when I was still watching Byeol and Sunghoon."

Then Jungwon's phone began to ring, stealing both their attention. Her eyes shone when she saw Jay's caller ID, something he didn't fail to notice and chuckle about. She mouthed: Put it on speaker. She then earned a glare from him after that, he pressed answer and placed his phone on his ear.

"Hey, what's up?" Jungwon greets his friend.

"Hey Won, where are you? Sunoo and I were going to invite you to play basketball." Jay said.

Jihee, unable to hear the call, only watched Jungwon as he spoke to his friend. "I'm out right now actually, are you inviting me to play now?"

"Yeah, unless you're busy it's fine." Jay adds.

He pressed mute and looked at the girl he was with. "Do we have enough time to spare?" He asked her and she nods. He even tilts his head, a doubtful expression his face since he knew she already had an idea why he was asking. Rolling her eyes, she nods again.

"Actually I have time to spare, I'll meet you in the usual spot." Jungwon lets Jay know.

"Great, Sunghoon and the others are going to be there too by the way, I hope you don't mind." He lets Jungwon know.

"Yeah it's fine. See you later." He said, dropping the call after. He sighed as he gazed at Jihee. "Looks like you'll get to see me play basketball now."

She cheered. "Oh I can't wait to mess with you." Her tone and expression had mischievous written all over it.

"Jungwon you made it." Jay greets Jungwon, his eyes trailed then to person tailing behind him. Jihee smiled when her eyes met Jay's. "Oh? I didn't know the two of you were together."

"No, we just passed by each other, right?" Jihee made up an excuse to get them out of the tough spot or to avoid being suspected of dating.

He nods. "Yeah, I invited her to tag along. It's fine, right?"

Jay nods, smiling at her attractively. "Of course it's fine, I'm sure she hasn't seen you play yet."

Then in no less than a minute Sunghoon arrived with his best friend Jake next to him. He was also surprised to see Jihee there, well everyone who arrived was surprised to see a girl watching them. She recognized them all, especially since some of them were quite well known in their school.

Sunoo sat next to her, holding two water bottle. "You're not going to play?" She asked.

"I don't really like playing, plus it's balanced if I don't join." He explained. "You and Jungwon?" The intention behind his smile was easy to tell.

She scoffed. "We just passed by each other on one of my bike rides."

Sunoo laughed. "Alright alright. I'm messing with you, plus he has liked Byeol for so long. I don't think it's that easy to forget a long time crush."

"It's never easy." She adds, her eyes watching them as they began to play. Jungwon, Sunghoon, and Niki was in one group while the other group consisted of Jay, Heeseung, and Jake.

Jungwon didn't know how he ended up in the same group as Sunghoon. They were still awkward around each other, especially since they liked the same girl. Niki had to slap them both in the back so they wouldn't be so tense around each other. He missed the adrenaline the game gave him, the satisfaction it brought once you see the ball shoot in the basket.

Despite being attentive of the ball, he did notice Sunghoon stealing glances at Jihee and Sunoo, something he admits to also doing. But he stopped after how many glances because her attention was fixed on Jay.

Little did he know, he was wrong.

Jihee's golden eyes were never on Jay but rather on Jungwon.

She watched him intently at first to find any reason to mess with him and yet she found herself sucked into the wonder he was. He really was an amazing basketball player, he moved so smoothly and swiftly. She wondered why he wasn't part of the school's varsity, he was amazing.

Of course the others were great too, Jungwon was just on another level.

"Are you looking at Jay?" Sunoo asked, making the same mistake as Jungwon. It only looked like she was staring at Jay because he was always around Jungwon. "Have I been wrong the whole time? Is it Jay who you really like?"

She laughed at Sunoo's surprised and in some way betrayed expression. "Don't worry about who I like." She looked at the time and realized they've spent quite some time watching basketball.

Time really does fly fast when you're stuck in a particular moment that was too good to last. After playing so much, they all ran to where the seats were and sat, drinking the water they brought. Jungwon sat next to Jihee, wiping the sweat off his face.

"You never told me you could play that well." She said, looking at him as she crossed her arms.

Jungwon chuckled. "You actually watched me? I thought you were watching Jay the whole time."

She raised her eyebrow. She wondered why they kept saying she was staring at Jay, she doesn't even recall a single moment where she watched him as intently as she did with Jungwon. Then she paused upon realizing what she was saying on her head. What am I saying? Am I actually admitting to only watching Jungwon?

"It looks like it's going to rain." They glanced at Heeseung who all of a sudden spoke. He was right, the sky had turned dark and sight of the familiar sky blue could be seen anywhere.

"Shit, I didn't bring an umbrella." Sunghoon muttered. "Can I share with yours Jake?"

"Sorry my umbrella is too small, maybe the others have an extra." He looked around but it seemed only a few of them anticipated that the weather would take a great turn.

Jihee could conjure up a lot of umbrellas for them but she didn't want them to seem suspicious, she could only give one of them an umbrella. "I have one, do you want it?" She offered.

Everyone looked at her. "No it's fine, you need that too." Sunghoon reasoned.

"She'll just share with me."

Her face showed pure surprise upon hearing what Jungwon said. He looked at her and this time, she failed to decipher what emotion his eyes showed but there was one thing clear to her, it wasn't the same as the ones he gives to Byeol.

She coughed, turning her head away from him to hide the blush that was surfacing. "It's fine Sunghoon just take it. Jungwon and I have to be somewhere anyway." She smiled, handing him the umbrella that she had in her bag.

Sunghoon bit his lip before grabbing it from her hold. "I'll give it back tomorrow."

She nods. "We should get going now Jihee, we're going to miss it." Jungwon suddenly stands up. "Sorry Jay, we have to be somewhere."

"Go ahead! See you both in school!" Jay waved at them.

Jihee waves back. "Bye!" She says before Jungwon pulled her away from them.

The two walked quietly, making their way to their bikes. She had nothing to say to him and as much as she wants to mess with him about their basketball game, there was nothing to joke about his game play.

Jungwon, on the other hand, was too flustered to say anything. He felt awkward especially after what he said and what he did. He didn't even bother asking her where their next destination was, he just followed her throughout the bike ride. They were rushing a bit because the sky was getting darker and darker, signifying heavy rainfall.

Then they arrived at the park where they first met.

"Let's sit there." Jihee said, sitting in a bench. She gave him one of her airpod as she stared at the empty space in front of them. "Does no one really go to this park? Why is it always empty?"

He crossed his arms, the side of his lips raising a little forming a smile. "It's going to rain, do you really think they would stay here?"

She shrugs. "Fair enough."

A raindrop suddenly fell to his head. He looked up at the sky and realize the rain was already starting. Opening the umbrella, he unconsciously made sure that it would cover most of her head. And when the rain was the heaviest, the two people they were watching earlier appeared out of nowhere, drenched because of the rain.

"This is dramatic." He whispered to her.

She covered her mouth, stifling her laughter. "Guess you haven't seen most of Byeol and Sunghoon."

"Why didn't you tell me?!" The guy held the girl's wrist, stopping her from running anywhere.

"Because I never wanted you to find out!"

"So you think hiding it from me would make it any easier?"

"I was going to tell you, believe me I wanted to. I couldn't stand what my family did to yours. That's why I can't blame you if you're angry at us."

"Don't... include yourself. It's only your family I'm angry at."

"Their downfall would also be my downfall, Tae. I didn't want to get in the way of your revenge. So let's end this, continue with your plan. Don't worry about me anymore."

"I won't. I won't let go of you. I don't care if you're from the Soo family, I love you still."

Jihee took off her airpod after that. She refused to listen anymore, not because they were too dramatic for her but because it brought back memories she never wanted to return to anymore. Jungwon noticed and he took off his as well, puzzled by the expression she wore.

"Do you want to know what happens to them?" She asked, looking at him this time.

"They didn't end up together. Their love was forbidden the moment their families betrayed one another."

As if a light bulb turned on in his head, he figured out something. Why out of all the fate she must've seen, she chose that specific one.

"Is it forbidden to love you? Or is it forbidden for you to love?"

He asked her, looking straight at her golden eyes.

"It's not but it's dangerous." She answered. "Why? Are you willing to risk it?"

Tell me, are you worth the risk?
