"What are we doing in a restaurant?" Jungwon asked after the waitress finally left them.

He admits, this was not one of the place he expected to be their first destination. Jihee had asked him before they left if he could handle seeing blood, which immediately scared him. Turns out she was just messing with him but knowing how playful she was, he couldn't just trust her that she won't bring him to a place where the mafia could be.

Jihee took a sip from the coffee she ordered. "Do you believe in soulmates?"

The question was odd and yet he still chose to answer it. "Yes."

Even before he learned supernatural beings actually existed, he has always believed in the concept of soulmates. That's because his parents was one of the few examples of soulmates. His mother was a very rich person before according to his father, she had everything anyone could possibly have in this world but she gave it all up to start a family with the man she loved. And that goes the same for his father, he was already dead set on marrying his childhood best friend but it all changed when he met his mother.

He gave up his determined future for a future that was unclear but beside with the woman he truly loved.

"We'll meet interesting soulmates today." Jihee leaned on her seat and stared at the glass wall where they could see people passing by them.

"Do you like love stories? You seemed to be always intrigued by love stories." He curiously asked.

Her expression changed, and he swore the smile she wore had a hint of bitterness. "I don't enter realities where love is as innocent as the ones in your reality. Before I came here I've seen every kind of evil that could possibly exist and punished people who did all sort of bad things."

"Seeing innocent love stories like the ones in this world reminds me that not all realities are as dark as the ones I've been to."

His gaze remained fixated at her. Instead of being afraid of her, he somehow felt a lot closer to who she truly was. He didn't fear the fact that this woman right here has seen far more evil than anyone. Maybe because he was once afraid of her or because they spent way too much time together, but his opinion of her was clear as day. She was a good person.

His thoughts was cut off when she suddenly grabbed her airpods from her bag. "They're here. Wear this so you could hear them." She said passing him her airpod.

He nods, wearing the airpod on his left ear. Both their eyes were watching the couple that had just entered, sitting on a table not too far from them.

"What do you want to eat?" Jungwon was surprised to hear the guy's voice loud and clear.

Jihee glanced for a second at him for a second to make sure he could hear it but judging by his amused expression, she already got her answer.

"Look Taehyung, I-I didn't go here to eat." The girl said.

"Why did you invite me here then? Did something happen? What's the matter?" The man's worried voice asked his possibly lover.

"No, it's about my parents..." Even Jungwon and Jihee could tell the nervousness on her voice.

Jungwon didn't even realize he was so invested in someone's life. And the fact he used to constantly call Jihee a stalker for doing this, he has never felt like an hypocrite until that moment.

"Why? Did something happen to aunt and uncle?"

"Taehyung, I--"

"Gosh she needs to blurt it out right now." Jihee frustratingly says. Jungwon was suddenly hit with deja vu, remembering how he heard her voice for the first time which led to her imprisonment in that reality.

"What do you want to say, Hyemi?"

"I'm-- I c-can't say it."

Jungwon stifled a laugh when he noticed how Jihee facepalms herself.

"No I can say it. I-I'll say it."

"You're starting to scare me, Hyemi. What's wrong?"

And just as when she was about to speak once more, the guy's phone began to ring. "I'm sorry Hyemi, I have an emergency. I'll call you later okay?"

"S-Sure."

And then their eyes followed the guy as he exits the cafe to go wherever he was going. Jihee removed her airpod and casually sipped from her coffee. "What do you think she wanted to tell him?"

"Was she confessing her feelings?" That was his first guess but judging by her chuckle it was a no. "Then what was she saying?"

"She was confessing the truth that they couldn't be together because dear fate finds enjoyment in tormenting others." She explained, a slight smile appeared on her face as she mentioned fate's name. "That guy we just saw is from a rich family and that girl is the hidden daughter of the family the guy hates so much."

His jaw dropped. "So they can't be together because of their families."

Forbidden love.

Once Jihee was done with her coffee, she stood up. "Come on, let's go. We're going to chase that guy." She shoved her airpods back into her bag.

He nods, standing up also to follow her to where their bikes were. He looked up at the sky and realized the sky looked peaceful, as if there was no sign of any rainfall for the day but she still told him to bring an umbrella.

He wonders what's running inside her head at that very moment as he tailed behind her back, riding his bike. He wonders what she knew.

They arrived at a small cafe. Jungwon was worried at first because the man may recognize them but Jihee ensured that won't happen. In the eyes of the man, they were nothing but a passerby with scribbled faces.

The two of them sat at the most furthest table. She handed him one of the airpods and from her magical bag, she pulled out a book to pretend like they were studying.

When actually none of them really studied.

"Jungkook, I was with Hyemi. What's the emergency?" The first guy said, sitting in front of his friend.

"Remember the ongoing investigation you asked me to on the Soo Family?"

Jungwon nudged Jihee on the shoulder. "Soo family?" He mouthed.

"Hyemi's family." Jihee answered with her telepathy. "He wanted to bring down their family so he asked his friend to investigate."

"Tae, it's bad. Really bad you have to shut down the investigation right now. Just leave their family alone."

"I can't do that, you know I can't."

"Tae... Hyemi's their hidden daughter."

Well shit. Jungwon looked at Jihee and he was even more surprised when he saw that odd smile plastered on her face.

"Fate really is horrible."
