Near Death

a/n: for those of you who don't do blood, death (even just the mention of it), cuts, anything like that: this imagine is not for you. this also might be very different from my other imagines because, why not switch it up every once in a while. everyone else, enjoy :)

You had been dragged along with your friends to fight off the mysterious creature know as the Demogorgan that came from the Upside Down, where Eleven has made contact with it.

Your hand intertwined in between Mike's fingers, a flashlight beam shining from the small tube in your other hand, a frown on your lips out of nerves.

"What happens if we find it?" You asked softly, feet stepping over the metal bars from the train track.

"We're going to kill it."

You inhaled. "Yes, that's the plan but,-"

"But what?" Mike cut you off, looking over at you. "We can kill it. Eleven will come, I know she will."

You nodded, shutting your mouth for the rest of the time that you walked down the train tracks.

You wouldn't admit it to your friends, but you were scared.

You had seen this thing multiple times and had seen what it could do which meant killing it would be near impossible without Eleven.

"Hey, loosen up, ___."

"Oh, uh, sorry." You apologized, unaware of tightly you were gripping his hand.

"There." Lucas pointed.

The large fence outside of Hawkins Lab, where the home for this creature was, seemed easy to scale, minus the barbed wire weaving around the top.

"Is there another way in?" You asked, looking towards the other boys.

Lucas opened his mouth to speak, shutting it almost immediately after. Dustin didn't make eye contact.

Mike pointed.

"There."

You turned. There was a slight opening of the gate where it looked as if something had crawled underneath the fence to escape or to get in.

Either way, it was an entrance.

"Come on." You said, waving your flashlight in the direction of the small hole.

When all four of you got to it, Lucas headed in first. Next, Dustin. Then, Mike. Finally, you.

You had insisted going last so everyone could be there to help pull you in quickly if something was approaching.

As soon as you stepped foot into the grounds of Hawkins Lab, you instantly felt an awkward pain. It wasn't like you were being stabbed but it felt like you were being attacked, even though you were fine.

You had the feeling someone or something was watching you.

"The door is that way. Let's just pray it's open." Lucas noted, walking you and the other two towards the door.

"Damn it!" Dustin yelled, not bothering to keep his voice down. "Damn it, damn it, damn it!"

"Dustin, hey, I can get us in there." You said to him, making him turn to face you while you took out the bobby pin that was holding your hair up.

As you took it out, your long locks seemed to float down your back and shoulders.

Mike couldn't help but stare.

You took the bobby pin in between your teeth, bending it in a way that would allow for some sort of a key, and stuck it inside the lock without hesitation.

You began to move it around the certain way you had been taught to, by your dad, in case you ever got locked outside your car and your keys were inside.

"Got it." You announced, swinging open the door as Lucas and Dustin both thanked you and quickly, but quietly, rushed inside.

You held out your hand, waiting for Mike to take it. "C'mon."

He nodded, grabbing your hand, and quickly walked inside as the door shut behind you.

Hawkins Lab was huge, with multiple staircases, emergency alarms at every corner and on almost every wall, and multiple levels containing many, upon many rooms.

You walked inside to see four people dead in the lobby, tears began to choke you. You didn't want to end up like this.

"Hey, c'mon, you'll be alright." Mike said loudly enough for only you to hear.

"You caught me staring at them?" You asked, not taking your eyes off of one man.

"That, and your grip is like iron fist right now." He commented.

You loosened up a little bit. "Sorry, again."

Lucas and Dustin noticed two doors were busted down, so we began to walk through them.

Who knows if the demodogs or anyone else alive is in here. We might be the last people to walk in and we may not walk out.

We made our way up flights of stairs but got stuck as Lucas peeked around the corner.

"Guys," He began, very quietly, almost too soft. "There is one right there. We need to go."

You agreed almost immediately, pulling Mike down the stairs with you and keeping your feet silent.

Everyone followed you to the front door, except you didn't make it to the door all the way before a demodog came out of hiding.

"___!"

It landed on top of you, opening its mouth and screeching at you, it's long claws raising up and suddenly digging into your leg.

You yelled out in pain, blood pouring out of your leg.

The demodog didn't stop. It just kept raising its claws, pushing them through some of your soft skin. Blood was pooled around you. You looked like death.

"___!"

That's all you could hear as your vision started to slip. You were loosing too much blood.

Suddenly, ringing in your ears.

The demodog stayed up on you. It looked as if it were smirking, like it won, or something.

Then suddenly, it was flung off of you, hitting the wall, and dying.

You didn't have enough energy to look up to see who had saved you, because you had lost too much blood from the wounds given to you.

Your vision darkened, and you slipped into a sleep.

When you woke up, you were in the Byers house, Hopper and Joyce looking over you.

You blinked a few times from the sudden light, even if it were just a few lamps.

"Hey there." Joyce said softly.

You felt sudden jolts of pain run through your body as you tried to move your leg.

"___, you can't move that leg. It's badly damaged right now but it will eventually heal." Hopper said.

You nodded, laying your back down on the pillow.

"Why did we decide to go in there?"

Hopper nodded. "My question exactly. What were you all expecting to happen?"

"We-We wanted to defeat the Demogorgan."

"You want to fight the Nazis while you're at it?" He asked, sarcastically.

You sighed. "I know, stupid of us. We just wanted to see if we could help."

Hopper nodded, standing up. "I'll check on you in a little bit but be more careful next time and don't make stupid decisions."

Joyce turned towards you. "Do you want to sit up?"

You nodded, allowing her to help move your leg to allow the sitting position you desired.

"Thanks, Mrs. Byers." You smiled softly at her. She pulled you into a tight hug. "Please be more careful next time. I don't want to loose someone else."

All of the boys and Max suddenly rushed over to you.

"Oh my God, I am so sorry!" Dustin exclaimed.

"It's fine." You said, laughing slightly.

Lucas came up and sincerely apologized for bringing you into a hell hole and you didn't wipe the smile off your face.

Max didn't know what happened but hoped you'd be better soon.

Mike came and sat next to you, nuzzling his head into the crook of your neck as you turned and hugged him.

"I'm so sorry, ___. If we hadn't gone in there, none of this would've happened. You wouldn't be hurt-"

"Shh." You said, silencing him.

He pulled back, briefly pushing his lips to yours, before letting go, and getting back into the same position he was in.

"Our first kiss happens to be right after my near death experience." You joked.

"Haha, very funny. About the kiss, not you being near death."

"Mhmm." You hummed, smiling.
