Hot Chocolate

Your hands were covered with a blanket as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer played on your television, snow falling gently outside.

Your mom was humming to a Christmas carol in your kitchen, your dad sitting in the den with you as your cat purred from a chair across the room.

You were bored, wanting to see someone but no one would go out in weather this cold to come pick you up and bring you someplace.

A knock on the door interrupted your day dreams. Your eyes watched your mom's bright green sweater go to the door and open it.

"Mike! What a surprise. ___ is right-" You ran through the door and pulled him to your arms, smiling at the joy that someone had come out in the cold to see you. Oh, yeah, he was also your boyfriend.

"Here." Your mom finished as she smiled at the two of you. You let go and smiled at him. "What are you doing here?" You asked him, a growing smile on your cherry colored lips.

Mike smiled at you. "Well, I want to take you out. For hot chocolate or something."

You quickly agreed, your mom shoving a pair of white mittens and a pink hat into your hands as you finished slipping on your flannel and white scarf.

You quickly put on the outfit, following Mike out the door and into the falling snow where the cold air nipped at any bare skin.

"You couldn't have picked a warmer day, Wheeler?" You asked, rubbing your hands together to get them warmed inside the mittens as you two walked down to Hawkins Cafe where you and the party hung out a lot of the time.

He pulled your hands apart and put one into his, smiling over at you with something so simple, it warmed your heart.

"Today was cold and there's a deal for hot chocolate at the Cafe so why shouldn't we go!" He said, making you laugh while two girls stared at you two.

"Of course." You said, smiling over at him. A blush was rising in your cheeks, becoming quite obvious to the people who you both passed.

The Cafe was soon in front of you as you both walked inside, Mike following you to an empty booth by the window where the heater was blasting down on you but the snow could still be seen dancing outside.

"Two hot chocolates with whip and hot fudge syrup." You told the waitress who smiled at the two of you and walked away, leaving you to stare at your boyfriend.

"Wheeler, you're such a good boyfriend. I really hope you realize that. And just how much you mean to me."

He shoot a quick smirk back. "Of course I am, ____." You rolled your eyes as he let out a laugh while two hot chocolates for placed in front of you two. Two straws were in a larger shake that was passed to you.

"My treat." The waitress said with a smile and walked away. You turned back to Mike, eagerly smiling. "If only I could take a picture of this moment."

He shrugged. "You always have your mind." You nodded. "True."

The conversations that lingered in the full housed cafe were interesting that ranged from the weather, presents, and Christmas morning gifts to be wrapped still.

You sipped on the hot chocolate, smiling at Mike after taking a small sip. "What?"

He just let out a sigh. "You're just really cute and this hot chocolate is so damn good."
