Dustin looked over at Mike who was looking at you and you were looking at him. "Wait, are you serious?" He asked. "I thought you said Will liked her!" He exclaimed.

You looked taken aback momentarily but regained focus when Dustin began to talk to Mike. "No way, man. She's my little sister!" He exclaimed, not moving his gaze off of him.

"What's wrong with liking your sister?" Mike asked, somewhat confused while you just stared back at your brother and his best friend.

Dustin didn't reply but instead got up and left the room. Max and Lucas went towards the snack table, Will following shortly after while Mike sat still.

Your eyes flickered towards the ground, now paying attention to a string that was pulled out of place with the rest of the carpet. Slowly, you stood up and followed in the direction of your brother, Mike staring at your leaving back.

———
"So that's why you were overprotective." You said to Dustin who was now sitting outside on Lucas' front porch, staring off at something that didn't currently exist.

"I just don't want you to grow up so fast, ___." He replied, not moving his eyes off of the road in front of him that was currently empty, Halloween being over now.

You watched him sigh. "And truth is, you're too good for Mike anyways." You smiled, nudging him over so you could get his attention. "Hey." You said, "Hey."

He turned to look at you. "I'll always be your little sister but I have to grow up eventually. Maybe this is good for me. Maybe it's good for him especially. He actually likes a girl. It's kind of surprising." You snickered, making your brother laugh.

"Yeah, that's true." He answered back, giving you a soft smile. You just gave him one back, standing up to pull him up with you.

"Just know though, that if anything, I'm too good for anyone." You said. He rolled his eyes, still smiling.

"Yeah, sure."

———
When you two walked back into the room with smiles on your face, everyone knew that something good had come out of your sudden disappearance.

Dustin might still be on a somewhat sour note with Mike for a little while for liking you, his little sister, but you just put on a reassuring smile to cover your previous statement.

You began to head to the couch, Dustin not following, which surprised you enough to turn around. "You're not coming?" You questioned. "Nope. You can grow up a little bit. But only a little."

You smiled, nodding, before heading over to Mike who was sitting on the couch with a red, embarrassed face and a painted frown on his lips.

"Hey." You started the conversation, sitting down and placing a dip next to him on the couch as he suddenly turned towards you. "Hey." He responded, pausing briefly before continuing.

"Look, I'm sorry for what happened. I didn't mean to get feelings for you but you're just really cool and also really pretty..." He trailed off while your eyes searched his for more words you knew he had. "And Dustin is one of my best friends and I might've screwed up my friendship with him for liking his sister."

You just smiled. "Mike, hey, it's cool. Alright? Really, it's fine. I talked to Dustin about all of this. He told me he doesn't want me to grow up too quickly and I can honestly say, I kind of agree with him."

Mike nodded, looking down at the floor. You sat with thick (thicc) silence between you two before sighing. "And, I have a secret of my own anyways."

Mike looked up quickly at you. "Really? What's that?" You only smiled and got up to go talk to Max, leaving him hanging on every last word you just said.

———
"Thanks for coming guys! I hope you all had a good time!" Lucas said to everyone as they began to leave.

You briefly thanked Lucas, smiling at him before Dustin pulled you along with him. Mike followed loosely behind you two.

In a few short minutes, you were all at Mike's house where he said bye to both of you and began to go inside.

"Mike! Wait!" You exclaimed, pulling him onto your lips and you could almost feel the shock from him. You let go, smiling up at him.

"Maybe I like you too."

"Wheeler, you better not be sucking face with my little sister!" Dustin yelled from the darkened street.
