Best Wishes

a/n: Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had such a good day, I know I did! I got a ton of awesome stuff, including a new phone which I'm using to type on here) and I got a more advanced camera! also, sad announcement: this will be the last Christmas update :(. Christmas is over in a few hours so it will be the end of the Christmas updates. hope you all enjoyed them while I wrote them!!! enjoy :)

You searched through the shelves in the general store in Hawkins downtown square, a place where you picked up everything you needed for anything.

"No, no, no."

Your fingers searched through the different cards for Christmas, as you tried to decide on one that would make it seem like you weren't too overpriced and expensive but one that showed just enough emotion for you to get your point across.

You finally found it, a smile brightening your lips. You practically skipped to the front to be greeted by Mrs. Byers who was currently handing something to another customer and thanking them.

"Mrs. Byers!"

You were close friends with Will and had helped him get over whatever emotions he was feeling when he came back from the upside down. You had been such a big help with them and their family, especially with Will.

"___." She replied, with a smile.

You slid the Christmas card across the counter, along with the cash needed to buy it, and smiled as Joyce rang it up.

"Who's this for?"

You looked down at the shoes that you wore that were covered in dust from the dirt.

"For a special someone."

Joyce raised an eyebrow at you.

"Who might that be?" She urged you on.

Your face became hot with embarrassment but you tried to contain yourself, clearing your throat a little before looking back up and responding.

"Uh, one of Will's friends."

Joyce smiled, leaning down slightly over the counter.

"Mike, isn't it?"

You nodded, surprised. "H-How did you know that?"

She leaned back up, placing the card into an envelope. "I have my ways, from Will."

You nodded, looking down towards your feet again before she slid the bag across the counter with a few extra coins since you over payed.

"Thanks, Mrs. Byers."

You tapped your chin, trying to find the best words to explain how you really felt about Mike while the card sat staring up at you, blank spaces everywhere since it hadn't been touched by ink once.

Words were echoed inside your head before you finally decided on a few ones that would really make sense.

Mike,
You may not realize this, since I mostly try to keep my emotions and feelings underwrap after what happened last time I let them loose, but I like you.
More than a friend.
I'm really trying to hide the emotions but everyone can tell. Will, Lucas, Dustin, Max.
All of them know how I feel.
Now it's your turn to know the same knowledge that they do.
Merry Christmas, Mike Wheeler.
Best Wishes,
____.

You smiled contently at yourself before folding it back up, sliding it into the envelope, and grabbing your hat, gloves, and boots to walk over to his house.

Snow was dusting the ground as your feet pushed their marks of the bottom of the boots into the snow, showing signs of where life had walked around.

You hadn't expected for Mike to be out at this time of night since you knew that the Dungeons and Dragons campaign would be going on today but here he was, standing at the mailbox to get the mail.

"Mike!"

He turned towards you, an instant smile illuminating his lips as you walked faster towards him, the card heavier in your hands.

"I have this to give to you. A-And I want you to read it while I'm here."

Mike looked confused for a split second before quickly opening the envelope and glancing his eyes back and forth from the card to you.

You could see his eyes reading every word delicately as you stood near him, wringing your hands together tightly out of nerves.

When he was done, he looked up at you with a twinkle in his eye. His hand reached out for yours as he grabbed it, rubbing small circles on the top of your hand.

"I'm really glad you told me to read it now, while you're here, so I can do this."

Before you understood what he meant, you felt his lips push against yours softly.

This was everything you thought of it to be.

Soft, sweet, simple.

When you let go first, you gave him a small smile to complete your satisfaction.

"Best wishes, ___." He told you, making you blush as he read the last two lines of the card out to you.
