Chapter Twenty-Nine: Witch Holes

I sat down at the lunch table with a big sigh. Briar and Ara gave me surprised looks. Briar's long dark pink hair shone intensely in this bright cafeteria light, while Ara's blue buzzcut just looked badass as usual.

We were sharing a table with Billie and Choonhae. We had connected to the two young girls over a bad evaluation we all had gotten from some very stern judges. They were cool people.

Choonhae's nose looked red and swollen. Both of her eyes were starting to turn a little blue at the corners.

"What did you do?" I asked the youngest girl in our competition, suddenly feeling protective. It didn't look like she did that to herself.

"Wrong dance move, and I hit my own nose," she feebly said while sipping from a big mug of green tea. It could actually be the truth. She was really clumsy. I had watched her first duo performance from the break room and it had been rough.

Billie made a weird little scuffing nose which got a dark look from the maknae.

"And you?" Ara asked brazenly, "Because I've heard some things, bitch!"

I clenched my fists in rage. I was so angry I could go over to his table right now and punch his lights out. The culprit was sitting a couple of tables over, talking in loud voices to Haruto and Gyuvin.

"Gunwook has a death wish," I grunted between clenched teeth while taking my cup of black coffee in the palms of my hands. It was hot as fuck, but I didn't care, as I gave him menacing scowls. He hadn't noticed me yet.

"So nothing happened?" Briar asked, and I snapped my neck to the left to scowl at her.

She flinched. "Okay, okay! Could you not give me those evil eyes, girl? I believe you!"

In the meantime, Choonhae and Billie were discussing Chanbin. I had heard some of it, but had drawn out most in my brooding trip down memory lane with Gunwook.

"Your brother told me he would do it," Billie added,  wiping away a stray piece of rice that had fallen on her chest. I had no idea what it was. I must have missed that part.

"Yeah well. I'm not my brother." It was a tricky subject somehow. It was apparent in the way Choonhae crossed her arms.

'I'm getting a muffin. Does anyone want one?" Choonhae said, changing the subject and dropping some of her anger. We all shook our heads.

"The diet starts now." Briar indicated and pointed at her non-existent belly. As a trainee things were difficult like this as well.

Choonhae rose without looking and accidentally knocked over a tray of somebody walking passed her back. I had seen it happen in slow motion but had been too slow to warn her. The orange juice and hot tea dripped down her back, and I heard a whole lot of cursing.

'Damn it!' Bongcha growled. 'You can never watch where you are going, don't you mouse?!'

Ugh.

Bongcha was so last season with her bullying and name-calling. Can somebody please shut the bitch up?

Choonhae was now fully covered in whatever was on her tray.

Billie and Ara rose quickly to help, patting napkins at the girl's head, while I took on Bongcha and her B-crew. The three of them stood behind my friends like lionesses, ready to pounce.

"Are you about done with the name-calling, Bongcha?" I snapped while flashing my 'evil eyes' her way.

"Are you about done hooking up with Gunwook, or?" She sneered back, her head tilted to the left, and Bitna and Bada cackled like hyenas.

That's .fucking. it.

I rose slowly, putting my palms on the table before leaning towards them. I was not afraid. I have been through a lot worse than them.

I would have new inspiration for my following rap verses because of these assholes. They would get the full brunt of my wrath today and tomorrow - until their behavior changed.

"Careful, Bongcha. You don't want to make an enemy out of me. Trust me on that."

I saw a flash of fear go through her eyes. Something must have hit home. It might have been the tone of my voice, or my menacing aura because I could be the biggest bitch in this room if the universe let me. Bongcha must have felt that.

"Let's get you cleaned up," Billie stated while also flashing me a worried look, and she dragged Choonhae away from the fight. The girl was on the verge of crying.

Ara just looked proud, sitting back on her chair with her arms crossed and staring daggers at Bitna's profile.

While Briar was standing to the right, impassive and calm, also with her arms crossed.

"She'll be gone anyway this Friday." Bongcha bit back, her chin jutting out defiantly. "The mouse won't survive another round. Last time she ranked seventieth, there is no returning from that."

Bongcha forgot the power of the underdog, and that little fumble Choonhae had endeared many people to her during her performance. Also, Chanbin had ranked twentieth and was quickly becoming popular amongst the netizens. Her brother might be another factor why Choonhae might survive another week.

"That is the last time I ever hear that nickname from your lips," I growled low underneath my breath. Barely a whisper, but she had heard.

"If I ever catch you near her again, you will be reported. I'm not afraid of your petty ass, and I am also not afraid to snitch on your evil soul. You will lose everything Bongcha because that's what you fucking deserve."

I pointed at all three of them, "Now, waddle away to your evil witch holes or whatever you do when you are not training, but never talk to me again."

I sat down and dismissed them, focusing on my food. I heard two chairs scrape back, and my friends must have turned towards me again as I heard footsteps and some huffing and cursing, but the B-crew was leaving the room.

"Evil witch holes," Ara said after a long beat of me slurping up my breakfast soup. She let out a loud laugh and flipped her head back. Briar followed, and soon after, I fell into a fit of laughter with them.
