Crazy Ex Girlfriend

A/N: Not related to the show, Crazy Ex Girlfriend. I've never seen it. In this one (actually this is going to be a two parter so these two) you were originally intended to kind of be a crazy ex girlfriend but I dialed the craziness down. I may have told you about my plans for this angsty two parter. I thought I did but I can't find any reference to my idea.

Thanks for 7k reads! Sorry for not updating in a while. School started so expect updates to be on the weekends rather than weekdays. But who knows when I will update? I don't!

Also spoilers for season 8! You have been warned!

(I want to hit Maeve in the head with a bat. I don't like her one bit but it breaks my heart to see Spencer so heart broken)

You started dating Spencer after you two shared a room in Alaska but broke up not long after Prentiss faked her death. Technically Spencer broke up with you. Truth was you never got over him.

After the weird case with the legs, you figured out he had moved on and had a new girlfriend. That night, you got a little drunk and called up an old friend of yours, Christopher "Chris" Hayden.

He was a private investigator and you may have had him investigate this new girlfriend. He was a tech genius like Garcia. He could hack emails and get phone records easy.

You told him the location of the phone booth Reid used to call her and he was able to her identity easily. Maeve Donovan, a geneticist who used to work at Mendel University.

She was previous engaged to someone. You bet Spencer didn't know that.

After the case where the female unsub used her victims to make human fertilizer, you met up with Chris to get the load on Spencer's new girlfriend. You met him at his office downtown.

You asked, "What do you have?"

Chris handed you a file, "She has a stalker. She' s been getting these weird breathing messages on her machines and these emails you need to see"

You looked at the file Chris handed you. You read the emails. Spencer was usually the one who analyzed word choice and handwriting but you could tell that the stalker wasn't a man.

You told him, "This stalker is dangerous and a women. You shouldn't keep investigating this. Do you know who the email is registered to?"

He answered, "It's registered to Maeve's ex-fiancé. And I'm not going to stop investigating this. A woman's life could be in danger. I can find this stalker by investigating her"

"Chris, you cannot do that. That'd be putting your life on the line for a women you don't even know"

"Y/n, you do that all the time. If I can save her, I'm going to do it"

"Why Chris? Nobody's paying you to do this. I didn't even pay you to look into this in the first place"

"Because I'm sick of it. Sick of catching people cheating on their significant others, tracking runaways, and finding people who don't want to be found. I want to make a difference like you"

"Then become a police officer or an FBI agent! Chris, don't do this"

"Y/n, you can't control me. Now here's another file on what I have on Maeve if you want it"

You took the other file and left. As you went through it back at home, you drank a whole bottle of wine.

She was perfect. A genius just like him. And beautiful too. You knew they were perfect for each other. A better match than you and Spencer. She even told him that she loved him over the phone. Then you drowned the rest of your sorrows with another bottle of wine and some ice cream.

You had a terrible headache the next morning but at work, you were able to hide it better than Reid was. The aspirin you took helped.

A few months later you overheard Reid talking to Blake about Maeve. How it didn't matter what she looked like and how she was already the most beautiful girl in the world to him.

You also heard his worries. They were stupid. Maeve was lucky to have Spencer. If she couldn't see that then she didn't deserve him.

Hearing him talk about Maeve the way he used to talk about you hurt like hell. Unlike Spencer you already knew what Maeve looked like. She was beautiful.

Once you returned home, you had a night of drinking wine, eating ice cream, and watching Netflix. That was your nights home has been like since you found out about Maeve. They were few and far between but still there.

The worst part was hiding your hangovers from your team. You knew it would be tough but you somehow pulled it off.

One late night, you were still at the office when you got a phone call from Saint Mary's hospital.

"Is this Y/n L/n?" Asked the other line.

You responded, "Yes this is she"

"You're listed as one of Christopher Hayden's emergency contacts. I'm here to tell you that he got shot in the arm but he's going to be okay"

"Who shot him?"

The lady on the other line replied, "Some crazy lady named Diane Turner. She was going to kidnap someone he was investigating but he stepped in. She shot him and he shot her. She's not as lucky as he is"

"I'll be right there"

Chris saved Maeve's life. He was lucky he only got shot in the arm.

"I have to go" you started packing up your stuff.

"Why? Where are you going?" asked Blake, the only other one left in the bullpen.

"A friend of mine got shot. He's going to fine but I have to go"

You left and went to the hospital. He was unconscious when you got there. You weren't the only one there to see him. Maeve was there too and Will was there interviewing her.

You entered the room, "Hey Will"

"Y/n what are you doing here?" Will asked.

"Chris is an old friend of mine and I'm apparently one of his emergency contacts"

"Did you know about this?

"Yeah, I told him to stop investigating but he clearly didn't listen"

Will asked, "Did you know about the stalker?"

"Yes, I'm the one who told him it was a woman not a man" you answered.

Maeve asked you, "How did you figure that out?"

"I read the emails she sent and I used my amazing profiling skills" you answered.

"Wait profiling. Are you Y/n L/n?"

"Yes I am"

Before she could say anything else, two men came over. You knew who they both were. Maeve's ex-fiancé, Bobby, and the private detective he hired. Chris wasn't the only one investigating Maeve apparently.

Maeve muttered, "Bobby"

"Maeve, you're okay" said the ex-fiancé.

A doctor came in after them, "You two need to leave. There's a max of three visitors in a room"

"I just want to know why Maeve is here" said Bobby

"Because he saved my life and I owe it to him to make sure he's okay" answered Maeve.

The doctor told him, "Now you need to leave"

The doctor forced them out of the room. Good, you didn't need the drama. Will left after finishing his interview with Maeve. Then Maeve borrowed your phone to call Spencer. She told him that her stalker was dead and a private investigator saved her life. He was coming to the hospital.

The doctor updated you on Chris. He should be up in an hour or so. You sat there with Maeve. She asked you some questions to keep a conversation going that you didn't want to have.

You lied and told her you didn't know who wanted Chris to investigate her. She asked a few questions about Spencer. You told her about how you and Spencer shared a room in Alaska but you made it more of a joke. You tried to be nice to her but it was hard. You were crazy jealous and hated her.

When Spencer came, he finally saw Maeve and he told her that he loves her right in front of you. You left the room after that and went to the bathroom with your purse.

Once you got into a stall, you crumbled and started balling your eyes out. The man you were in love with just proclaimed his love for another woman in front of you.

You got your flask out of your purse and started drinking. You only drank about half of its contents before putting it back in your purse. You used some tissues you had in your purse to dry your eyes. Luckily for you, you didn't have any mascara on. You made sure it didn't look like you were crying before you left and went back to the room.

Spencer and Maeve were gone. You weren't sure if they left the hospital or if they just went or get a snack or something.

Chris woke up, "Hey"

"Hey there. How are you feeling?" you asked.

"Like I got shot by a crazy lady" joked Chris.

"Probably because that's what happened"

"Is Diane Turner still alive?"

"No but you're not going to be charged with murder. It was self defense"

"Where are Lorelai and Rory?"

Lorelai was his high school girlfriend who he got pregnant and Rory was their daughter. She was fifteen.

You told him, "I don't know but I can call them if you'd like"

"Yeah, can you do that?"

"Of course"

You left the room and called Lorelai. You two were friends when you were younger but lost touch when she ran away with Rory when she was sixteen.

Lorelai told you that she and Rory were in their way and that they were only an hour away. You went back in and told Chris that.

When you came back into the room, Spencer and Maeve were there. You didn't see them come in. Spencer had gotten some coffee and Maeve got some pretzels. Maeve and Chris were talking.

You interrupted, "Lorelai and Rory are on their way here. They're only an hour away"

The doctor came in and told the three of you it was time to go. Visiting hours were over. The only ones who could visit him now were his family. You took a taxi home even though Spencer offered to drive you home. In the back of the taxi you drank the rest of the flask.

When you got home, you drank a lot. You just wanted the pain to go away and drinking was the only way you knew how to make the pain go away. While you were drunk, you tore up your apartment. Every single book Spencer had given now had pages torn out and some were even thrown in the shredder. Every single picture he was in either had him ripped out or crossed out. You ripped apart the sweater of his you still had from when you were dating.

The next morning you were so hungover you had to call in sick to work. Hotch bought it and you got the day off. You sobered up, drank lots of water, and took aspirin.

You poured every single drop of alcohol left in your apartment down the drain and recycled all the empty glass bottles.

You had a problem and there was only way to solve it.  You knew what you had to do.

You joined the team in San Francisco a day late. JJ brought you up to speed. The entire time you ignored Spencer. You couldn't even look at him.

When you got back to the BAU, you took your personal items from your desk and left the BAU for the last time.

The next morning, you left a note for Rossi along with your gun, badge, and resignation. You had a duffle bag with you and left your apartment. The next time you would come back would be in three months.

The team was in the round table room, listening to a 911 call message.

After message played rather than asking about the case, Spencer asked about you because you weren't there obviously.

Garcia told him, "I've called her at least a dozen times, no response. I'm starting to get worried"

"I'll go to her place, make sure she's okay" said Rossi.

After the briefing, Rossi went to your apartment. He knocked on the door but you weren't there. You left the door unlocked for him so he just went on in.

Even though you had gotten rid of it all, your apartment still reeked of booze. He knew you had relapsed. Rossi was the only one who knew about your previous addiction with alcohol before you joined the BAU.

He saw the note with your resignation, gun, and badge on the counter. The note said,

Dear Rossi,

I figured you would be the one to look for me here. If it's not Rossi who is reading this then that's a little embarrassing.

I'm sorry I had to leave. The team is my family. I'm sorry I didn't say goodbye. please tell the rest of the team that it's not their fault I left, it's mine.

I have some personal issues I really need to work out. I couldn't work them out and still be apart of the BAU.

I'm really sorry for leaving like this.

Sincerely,

Y/n L/n

P.S. Rossi, if you really want to know where I went, I'm sure Garcia can tell you.

First thing Rossi did was call Garcia. He wanted to know you were okay.

Garcia asked, "Is Y/n okay?"

"She's gone" responded Rossi.

"Gone? What do you mean gone? Gone like dead or gone like kidnapped?"

"Gone like she left. Garcia, can you look at her recent credit card transactions?"

"Yes I can" Garcia typed things into her keyboard "Oh my god"

"Where is she?" asked Rossi.

"She just entered an addiction recovery program at a rehab center, Clearbrook, in Laurel Run, Pennslyvania"

"Thank you, and Garcia"

"Yes, sir?"

"Don't mention this to the rest of the team"

"I won't"

After that Rossi called Hotch and told him that you had resigned. It wasn't until after the psychopath who killed her sister and her mother (although her body was not found) was caught did Hotch tell them you that you left. Rossi told them that it wasn't their fault you left and that it was your fault and you were sorry for leaving like this.

Spencer took your departure the worst. You were the closest to him but once you found out about Maeve, you distanced yourself from him and the two of you grew apart.
