You Ready Boots?

Hawks was sleeping in one morning while you were cleaning up. The both of you were busy all week so the house was messier than usual. You thought since Hawks had worked 'til late you would take the bullet and clean up a little before he woke up.

You dusted everything in the living room and wiped down the tables and counters of the kitchen. You put a few dishes away and swept the floor. You were about to sweep the entrance when you saw Hawks' shoes. They were messy in the sense that he must've kicked them off haphazardly when stumbling back home.

Next to them was Hawks' favorite jacket that was also his hero costume. You picked up the jacket but paused seeing the size. Something, curiosity possibly, came over you and you carefully tugged on the jacket. You scurried to bathroom to look at yourself in the mirror and chuckled seeing the size difference. But seeing yourself in the mirror made it seem incomplete. Like it was missing something.

You listened for Hawks in case he was awake, then scurried to put on his shoes when you confirmed he was still asleep. Immediately you ran to the bathroom, but couldn't see the shoes so you quietly entered the bedroom where the taller mirror was.

You twirled in front of the mirror then took a few steps back to begin your small runway. With a bounce to your step, you flashed the recent fashion you copped yourself. A spin to the left and a pose for the right side.

As you flaunted the jacket and boots, you realized why Hawks wore them. They were comfortable as hell. It made you want to take them for yourself. A bonus of the fit was that the jacket smelled like him. Like home.

You stepped again to give your runway one last go and the song These Boots Are Made For Walking popped in your head.

These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you
Are you ready boots?
Start walkin'

You gave one last look in the mirror when you heard a soft chuckle from behind. You panicked and turned toward the voice to see Hawks propped up on his elbow with an amused grin.

"Y-You're awake!" You managed to stammer out and unconsciously hid your body with the very jacket you were "trying" to hide.

"Don't let me stop you, Hon'. I'm enjoying the show, especially the view," he teased and looked you up and down.

You tossed his jacket at his face as embarrassment coursed through your body. You couldn't believe he caught you. And how much did he see? How long was he watching?

"Don't be shy, Babybird. You look great in my jacket. It's a shame you don't wear it often," he reassured and crawled on the bed over to you. He sat on the edge and hugged your torso as he buried his face in your belly. His wings carefully enveloped you two and you ran your hands through his hair.

You grabbed a light fistful to force him to look up at you. He let out an exhale of laughter seeing your embarrassed face but returned to nestling in your shirt.

"Shut up," you responded and felt him smile on your stomach.

"Don't be shy... you looked great. It'd be nice to see you more confident like that again. If you want, I can let you borrow my jacket sometimes. I'd love to see you in it again, you looked adorable."

He hugged you tighter and sighed into your stomach as his body relaxed on yours. You played with his hair, and ran your fingers through the locks as you focused on his warmth that kept you in his embrace.

"Maybe next time," you lightly promised.

Unbeknownst to the hero, his wings raised slightly like an excited baby bird's. You felt him smile against your stomach again and he whispered, "I can't wait."
