I'll Take Care Of You

Requested by @Jinx1250

You were lying in bed with your foot resting on a pillow. Your back was against the headboard with your phone in hand, watching whatever you could find. You wanted more than anything to get up and sit somewhere comfortable, but it was difficult with the bird man hugging your waist and sleeping the day away. You were absentmindedly petting him and running your hands through his hair, until you finally realize it and stopped, thinking you were bugging him.

He shot up and eyed you, clearly annoyed that you had stopped so suddenly, "What's the deal? Do you need something?"

You let out a small huff of laughter and scratched his chin in a teasing way, "Sorry, I thought I was bothering my pretty birdie."

A smile stretched across his skin and you noticed the imprint of your clothes on his face. It must have been a great nap before you so rudely interrupted it.

These past few days, Hawks never left your side. He was distraught after hearing you injured your foot enough to be in a cast. He spent the days as you healed at your side, ready for any job you told him to do. Every morning you woke up with him holding you tightly, to make sure you didn't dare leave his side and risk hurting yourself further.

Today was no different, he had made you breakfast in bed and was quick to get you whatever you needed. He never left your side unless he had to get you something. At the moment he had been taking a nap until he woke up.

"This 'pretty birdie' is wide awake now that you stopped appreciating it. Are you hungry?" He asked as he climbed out of bed, making sure not to disturb your foot.

"A little," you said as you leaned over to move your foot off the bed. Your plan was to walk to the kitchen and watch him cook, but Hawks had other plans on how you got there.

He practically sprinted to your side as he asked frantically, "The hell do you think you're doing, Songbird?" He stopped your efforts and picked you up.

"Hawks! Stop! What do you think you're doing?" You exclaimed as you tried to stop him. You weren't going to question how in the world Hawks was able to pick you up so easily, but it was a big surprise.

He carried you to the kitchen and sat you down at the table. He placed a quick peck on your cheek before entering the kitchen. "My Songbird shouldn't move a single muscle, what would happen to the booboo on your foot if I wasn't here to take care of you?" He teased as he worked the kitchen.

Your cheeks flushed with embarrassment and annoyance from his teasing, affectionate tone. While it was nice to have him do this for you, it was too much having him tease you like that. Not that you hated it, though.

"What would the Love of My Life want for lunch?" He further teased and clearly enjoyed your reaction as he leaned forward to watch you.

How could he say such a cheesy nickname so confidently? You swore he would be the death of you one day.

"Anything," you confessed without thinking.

"Then should I prepare the world for you?" He teased once again. You jumped to your feet, prepared to attack him, but he was quick on his feet and was by your side immediately. He sat you down and lifted your foot on the nearest chair.

"Babybird, with all due respect, don't do that. I really don't want you to get hurt again," he warned with an expression that made your heart clench. His teasing expression was long gone and replaced with that of worry. It was enough to make you feel guilty for attempting to get up.

"Okay...," you agreed and Hawks responded with a smile and a gentle kiss to your forehead.

He returned to the kitchen to make you food. You ate, talked with him, and laughed with him. When you finished he picked you up, much to your surprise again, and asked with the cockiest of grins, "Where to next?"

You hid your embarrassment in his neck and he planted a soft kiss to the top of your head. "I'll take you anywhere you'd like. I can't let my Songbird do anything while you're healing. Let me do everything for you," he whispered to you and only you.

"Let me take care of you."
