8. Someone as beautiful as you

I have been waiting for Riley to show up. To be honest, my last class ended an hour ago, but I just really want to spend some time with her. The thing that has been on my mind for a while now is how I am going to drive her home.

I mean, she can' just point on which way I have to drive. Maybe I can just use the GPS on my phone. This is a good opportunity for me to get to know her. I have been excited, but also nervous. That I might fuck up.

Something I have been very good when it comes to Riley. I think it is because I just don't really know how to treat her, but I hope I don't make her feel uncomfortable around me. It would be the last thing I wanted.

A smile creeps on my face as I see the blond girl. I step to her so she doesn't need to waste time to go to me.

"Hi." I say, she smiles as she stops.

"Hi, Drew." Riley says and fold the cane. I take that as I hint that she wants me to lead her. She places her hand on my arm as I come next to her.

"Are you ready?" I wonder and she nods.

"Yes." She answers and I start walking with her holding my arm. I ask where she lives and she gives me the address. When I get into the car I will find it on the GPS on my phone.

"Do you have any brothers or sisters?" I ask, just to have something to talk about, but also to my knowledge.

"No, I don't. What about you?" She smiles to me.

"I have a big brother, but he moved out a couple of years ago." I tell her and she nods lightly.

"Umm," I stop in as we reach the front door of the school.

"Now I feel stupid," I laugh and she watches me, I think she is confused.

"We have to go out the door." I inform her and just smiles. I am not sure how this works, what to tell her and what do to, but I just open the door and lead her out so the door won't hit her.

I am so insecure to all of this that I can feel my heart pounding in my chest.

"Drew?" She calls my name.

"Yeah?" I say as we make our way to my car.

"You need to breathe." She chuckles and I stop walking. Feeling my cheeks turn very warm.

"Why?" I ask, not completely sure what she means.

"You are shaking." She laughs softly.

"I'm sorry." I snort of myself and keep on walking down the parking lot with the sun all over my face.

"Do I make you uncomfortable?" She asks and I look at her.

"A little bit." I answer honestly and the smile on her face fades.

"Is it because I can't see?" She wonders sadly. I shake my head, even though she can't see.

"No, just," I stop walking as we reach my car.

"Scared I might do something foolish." I chuckle and the smile comes back on her face.

"You have been good until now." She says and I just have to smile even brighter of her words, but also breath out in relief.

"Let's get you into the car." I tell her and move her to the passenger seat. Then I open the door to her and watch her finding her way to where she is going to sit. Sometimes I forget that she has probably lived most of her life like this and I just feel the need to help her all the time. But sometimes I just have to remind myself that she can do it on her own.

I remember the day in the store that her mom offered to help, but she declined. I can understand that she wants to be independent.

I get into my seat and before driving, I search of her address on the GPS. When I find it, I start the car and drive.

"Can I ask you something?" I wonder, a little nervous about what I am going to ask.

"Sure." She answers and I watch her for a short moment.

"Were you born blind or..."

"Yes." She answers before I can even say my whole sentence.

"Oh, okay." I say awkwardly, but Riley laughs of me. I almost jump in my seat as I feel her hand on mine, which is resting on the gearshift.

"Drew, calm down." She chuckles and then take her hand off mine. I sigh in disappointed, because of it. I take a deep breath and smile.

"Do you want to drive?" I chuckle lightly and she burst out in laughter.

"If you want to die, then I guess it's okay." She smiles. I think she likes to joke about it, since she don't mind that I ask her a lot of questions.

"If you want to we can do it one time?" I shrug, because that would have been fun.

"I mean, I can find this place and you can try." I offer. It can't be that bad. She can just drive slowly and I can help her to steer. I don't see a problem with that.

"I don't think my parents would like that." She chuckles.

"They don't have to know." I say and look at her. She seems a little skeptical, but also a little curious.

"I can see you want it." I grin as she fails to hide that perfect smile of hers.

"Fine." She says giving in to me. I feel the victory in me that she did. I stop the car in front of a cute blue house. It has a big porch, where a woman with the same hair color as Riley is sitting and reading a book as she enjoys the sun.

"Do you want to stay for dinner?" Riley ask taking me off guard.

"Um," I say, trying to think what to answer. I mean, I want to, but her other mother, the brunette scared the shit out of me, but I can't see her now. She might be inside, or at work, but I take my chances.

"I would love to." I smile as take off my seat belt and step out the door. Then find my way over to Riley and she grabs my arm. I follow her up the stairs one after one as we get up to the front door.

"Hello." The blond older woman comes towards us with a friendly smile. Which makes me breathe out in relief. She is not as scary as the other one.

"Hi." I smile and she reaches her hand out to me and we shake.

"Who is your friend Riley?" She asks.

"Mom, this is Drew." Riley smiles, which makes me see her cute dimples. Her mother says hello and tell me that her name is Andi. I follow her inside with Riley who is still holding on to my arm.

I look around their house, which is very cozy, but then I stiffen as I the familiar woman that has tattoos all over her arms. She watches me confused before she stands next to Andi.

"Hello." She says without a smile. Then I almost laugh as Andi poked her with her elbow in hrt stomach.

"Do you want to sit?" Riley asks me.

"Yeah, that would be nice." I say and turn to step over to the couch with Riley. I sit down and she follows my lead. I sink into the softness with a big breath, but then Riley lets go of my arm and I miss the warmth right away.

"I will make dinner." Devin say and then step into the kitchen. Andi sits down in the chair to my right, looking at me with a smile.

"I'm sorry about Devin, she is a little..."
"Overprotective?" Riley says, finishing her mom's sentence. Even though Riley had sunglasses on, I can see that her eyebrow is raised. Andi rolls her eyes.

"Yes, but only because she loves you." She smiles and so does Riley. Still, it does not help to calm me down. Devin is freaking me out.

"So, Drew. How do you know our Riley?" She wonders, leaning back in the couch and cross her legs.

"Um, school." I answer and she nods.

"Do you have same classes?"

"No, I am a senior." I smile shyly, and watch Andi raise her eyebrows surprised.

"Oh, okay." She says.

"Andi, I need your help!" Devin call from the kitchen. Andi smiles to me before she gets out of the couch to go and help Devin. I flinch as I feel Riley's hand on my thigh.

"Calm down." She chuckles and I notice that my leg is shaking.

"Sorry." I breathe, then without thinking, I lay my hand over hers.

"Your moms are scaring me." I tell her and Riley chuckles next to me.

"Do you wish I had two dads instead?" She asks and I burst out in laughter.

"No, I think I would have cried if you did." I admit, and watch that lovely smile on her face. Imagining how much I want to kiss those lips of hers. To taste and feel her softness. How much I want to feel her warm skin on mine.

I love the fact that she holds my arm when we walk together. It might make her feel safe, but for me it makes me know where she is. I don't want her to get hurt or lost.

"Are you staring?" She asks. My eyes widen and my mouth drops open.

"N-no." I stammer. Then lay my hand over my face as I feel my cheeks turn up a degree or a thousand. Riley is laughing softly next to me, but then she intertwines our hands that are lying on my thigh.

I can feel the butterfly's in my stomach, just by that little gesture. Imagine how much I would feel if she kissed me or touched me in any other way.

"What things do you like to do?" I ask her, wondering what she does when she is not at school. I would like to see it in my mind's eye.

"I like to read, listen to music and long car trips." She smiles.

"Why do you ask?" She wonder, and shrugs.

"Just wondering how someone like you spend the day." I tell her and see the smile on her face fades.

"You mean someone who is blind?" She ask a little annoyed.

"No," I shake my head.

"Someone as beautiful as you." I smile lightly, but feel my cheeks turn warm of what I just said.

She turns her head to the other side so I won't see her, but I know her cheeks are probably much redder than mine.

"Dinner!" Andi shouts from the kitchen. I stand up and still our hands are intertwined, but then she moves her hand up my arm. I lead her into the kitchen, which is not that big, but still there is a place for a little table for the four of us.

Andi is smiling to me as I follow Riley to the table, but still Devin does not like me that much. I tell Riley where her chair is and she reach her hand out, then not long after she sits down and I next to her. Andi and Devin are sitting in front us.

"So, Drew what are you going to do next year?" Andi asks me nicely as she starts to fill her plate with some chicken.

"My dad has his own carpenter company, so I was thinking about studying and then work for him. I like to build things." I shrug with a smile.

When I was a kid dad brought me to work with him, every time I had vacation from school and I learned a lot from him. I know all of them at the company and they are fun to work with.

I still go there when it's a holiday, but not as much as I did since I use a lot of time with my friends. Olivia came sometimes as well. Becca and Hannah they didn't like it so much, but Olive she enjoyed it almost as much as I did.

"That sounds nice." Andi smiles to me and I smile back to her.

After eating, Riley and I sat down on the couch. The TV stands on so I am watching, but I don't know if this is boring for Riley. I want her to have fun.

"Can I see your room?" I ask as I turn to look at the beautiful girl next to me. I think I caught her a little off guard.

"Umm, okay." She says, and hold my arm before we get up from the couch.

"It's upstairs." She smiles to me and I lead the way, but she walks up the stairs alone. As I said, I have no idea what to do, but I just let it flow.

"First to the right." She says, laying her hand on the wall and she follows it until she reaches the door. I watch her look for the door handle and then she steps in and so do I.

My eyes wander around, looking curiously. If you think about it, a room is like walking into someone's mind. You can see and find all of the things that interest them and what they love to do.

She has a bookshelf full of books, but there is no way I can read them. I don't understand the blind writing, never really seen it before as well. There are a lot of CD's on the shelf as well. I look through them and can't but smile as I see a familiar band.

"You like Disturbed?" I ask a little surprised as I turn to look at her, sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Only, the light and the sound of silence." She smiles as I sit down next to her.

"Sometimes darkness can show you the light." I quote and she laughs a little.

"You want to listen?" She asks.

"Yeah." I nod, and then she takes it out of my hands. I watch her walk over to the writing desk where her sound system is and without any problems Riley puts it on.

She has this room all around her little finger, I guess. She knows just how many steps and where everything is. Then the familiar sound of a piano comes to my ears and I can't hide my smile.

I take a deep breath before I lay my back down her bed, looking at the roof. Riley lies down next to me, and we just enjoy the sound of the music and the company.

"Drew?" I wake up to the sound of the voice of an angel, but take a big yawn before I open my eyes to actually see the angel.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to fall asleep." I say as I sit up and see that it is dark outside now.

"It's okay." She smiles and I just can't take my eyes of her, but then some of her hair comes to her face. I move my hand up, and she jumps as I touched her.

"Sorry, just," I push the hair behind her ear.

"There we go." I smile, watching Riley's cheeks that is now very red.

"Well," I stand up and look at the time on my phone, seeing that it is almost eight.

"I guess I should get going home." I say and watch Riley nod.

"Do you want me to follow you to the door?" She asks and I take a step to the girl who is still sitting on the bed.

"No, I can do it on my own." I smile, watching her for a while. I don't want to go, but it's school tomorrow and my parents do not like me staying out too long.

"Are you staring again?" She asks and I snort very lightly, so she won't hear.

"Yes." I smile and watch her cheeks turn red once again.

"I'll talk to you tomorrow." I say and she says bye as I step out the door.
