CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE, patience

( NOT EDITED / PROOFREAD )

Scandalous was one word that could describe the night Charles and Juliette had.

It truly was, and Juliette didn't know how to feel. A pang of regret grew in her chest, she knew that it was wrong. There were many bleak factors that outweighed the so called ' positives ' of them being together.

One was the media.

Who knows if someone saw them leaving together the night before? Paparazzi could've caught them in the car as well. Paranoia had set into Juliette's mind, as her thoughts wandered down a dull, scary road.

Juliette was also worried of all the hate that would've been directed towards her if the public found out about the night they spent.

"She probably got her seat in F1 because they're dating!"

"Wow I didn't expect her to start dating one of the drivers this early in the season."

Those were some of many things that the public could say about her. And Juliette didn't want that, especially not during the beginning of her F1 career.

Another factor that sent waves of nerves throughout Juliette, was what Ferrari's management would say.

She could've ruined their image, and ruined her chances of racing with them next season. Not to mention, the absolute anger Mattia would direct towards her.

Although, Juliette couldn't help but feel a bit giddy.

Due to the fact that she kissed Charles. Her inner child would've gone insane, and that was because Juliette did have a tiny, little crush on him growing up. Which eventually did fade away.

Juliette usually never felt this way whenever she slept with people. It was strange. This one might stand was different, maybe because it was her child hood best friend.

She didn't know.

Juliette was met with the tired, green eyes of Charles. He was shirtless and had a pair of underwear on.

Juliette gazed onto the bruised marks that scattered around his chest. Which was definitely made by her, she cringed at the sight.

"Leaving? You're already breaking my heart, Juli." Charles said with a smile, walking over her and placing a kiss on her forehead, before placing his hands on her shoulders.

A knot of guilt started to form in the pit of Juliette's stomach, due to what she was about to say.

"Charles . . . we need to talk about this. What's going to happen next?" Juliette sighed, before continuing. "We were reckless, anyone could've seen us yesterday, it was stupid."

Charles lightly massaged her shoulders. "Don't worry. I checked my phone, and nothings out, no photos, no articles, nothing."

"How about your neighbors? Anyone could've heard us." Juliette said the last part in a whisper, a nerve filled expression etched onto her face.

That's when Charles' blood ran cold.

"I'm not sure. Lando, Max, and Daniel are on this floor of the hotel." Charles spoke in thought, as Juliette turned pale. "You're joking."

"I wish I was."

"Um, another thing." Juliette let out another breath, before speaking. "I don't think we should continue like this. It was a one time thing, and a mistake. I-I mean, you and I can't be together. It'll mess everything up. I'm not ready, and I've just started my F1 career-"

"I'll wait for you." Charles whispered, his eyes gazing into hers with pure intentions. "And please don't say that last night was a mistake. God, it was one of the best nights ever, you can't deny that."

Juliette stayed silent, before nodding gently, a proud smile formed on Charles' lips. "Whenever you're ready, I'll be here with open arms."

Juliette's heart clenched with guilt, as she tried to distract herself from tearing up. She nodded, whispering a thank you, before piping up. "What are we gonna do if they heard us?"

"If it's Max then it's fine. He can keep a secret. But I'm not sure about Daniel or Lando."

"Oh, god." Juliette groaned. Charles chuckled. "I'll deal with it, it's fine."

Juliette nodded, before the two fell into a comfortable silence, as they swam around their thoughts.

"What are we now?" Charles questioned, quite abruptly. Juliette paused for a moment, before speaking up, hesitantly. "Um, friends? Best friends? Team-mates? I'm not sure."

Charles's face faltered a little, before nodding.

After all, he was still planning on waiting for her.

Right?

Daniel had invited some of the drivers over for some brunch in a cafe next to the Louvre.

Juliette found it hard to cover up all the hickeys, but luckily, she had some color corrector which helped conceal them up.

Juliette wore a pair of jean shorts, and a tank top that neatly tucked into the shorts. She curled her hair and let it fall neatly onto her shoulders.

Pierre, Max, Yuki, Charles, and Lando were invited.

It wasn't an odd group, those were the drivers she was closer with, and she felt quite comfortable around them.

Daniel and Juliette arrived together, and sat next to each other. They decided just to order coffees while waiting for the others to come.

Slowly, the others started piling in, before the table was completely filled.

Everyone ordered what they wanted, before they started to fall into conversations with one another.

"Dude, howd you manage to organize the party so fast yesterday?" Daniel spoke up, a bright smile on his face, as Charles chuckled, his eyes briefly meeting Juliette's. "I have a lot of connections with people. Plus, it's for Juli, so of course I had to whip something up." He spoke smoothly, winking at Juliette. Who rose a brow, surprised.

When'd he get so damn bold?

Juliette snickered, before taking a sip of her water, as Max started talking about his girlfriends daughter.

Juliette had met her once, she was really adorable. She was zipping throughout the paddock, unattended. Her wild pigtails flowing through the air, as she ran passed many people, who shot her questioning looks.

Juliette had found her wandering by herself, before taking her back to Max. It was a memorable experience, and the girl was quite cheeky.

Charles' phone dinged, a string of three notifications, popped up on his home screen. Juliette was sat directly in front of him, watching as he face formed into a scowl.

"Mattia wants us to meet him at the restaurant in the hotel, tomorrow morning." Charles sighed, evidently annoyed. Juliette groaned. "We're supposed to be off tomorrow. He's so fucking impossible to deal with."

Charles nodded, taking a sip of his orange juice.

Lando, who was on Charles' left, spoke up. "Sooo . . . I heard you had fun last night." He wiggled his brows.

Juliette chocked on her water, they all glance at her with furrowed brows. She waves them off, before mumbling an apology.

Charles' eyes filled with panic. "Um, yeah. The club was really fun."

"I was looking for you, mate. But apparently you left." Lando spoke, before a smirk formed onto his lips. "One of the guys told me you left with a girl."

Juliette kept silent, watching as the scene played out. Charles attempted to keep his face neutral, but failed miserably.

"Uh, whoever told you that was lying." Charles said with a light chuckle. Lando rose a brow. "You sure? I swear I heard some very questionable stuff coming from your room yesterday." Lando tested wickedly. Charles sighed. "It was nothing. Just celebrating my P2 yesterday."

"Putain! Tu as couché avec une fille et tu ne me l'as pas dit ?!" [ Bitch! You slept with a girl and didn't tell me?! ] Pierre gasped, blabbering out french. Juliette and Charles snickered, before Yuki spoke up. "Hey! I think you're forgetting that half of us don't speak french."

"Sorry." Pierre apologized sheepishly, before pressing further. "Was it good?"

Charles merely shrugged, before taking another sip of his drink. Pierre groaned. "Come on, man! You gotta give me something better than that!"

Lando smiled cheekily. "I bet it was. The shit I heard was insane." He cringed lightly. "I think I'm slightly traumatized."

Daniel chuckled, before glancing at Juliette, who was scrolling on her phone. "Juli, did you see who Charles left with yesterday?"

"Um, I don't know. I left early with Ney." She answered blankly, as a light blush formed on her cheeks.

"Hm, weird. I left with Neymar and Lewis, at like 2 in the morning." Daniel mumbled, his eyes squinting at the girl.

Charles' eyes widened.

They were fucked.
