9; nightmares

☂︎

"he's coming....run..."

jina woke up startled. sweat dripped down her neck and she was breathing heavily. she kept having the same occurring nightmare for the past days and weeks.

jina looked out the window of her room and saw rain trickling down her window. she checked the time and it was 8 am. jina sighed as she threw her sheets off her bed and made her way down stairs.

aunt luna was cooking breakfast and the twins were sitting at the table talking, "oh! morning jina!" said jake as he sent his little sister a sweet smile while yoon sent a soft smile to jina.

"morning guys.." she responded as she sat down on the table.

"how'd you sleep?" questioned aunt luna while making a jug of orange juice.

"okay.." replied jina as she shifted uncomfortably in her seat.

jina has been trying to keep quiet about her occurring nightmares. especially since she keeps having the same kind of dream. a scared and bloody soobin saying that someone was coming.

it was now the beginning of november and jina felt like she's finally having a restart and second chance in life. her and the group became closer and they include heeseung as well.

yoon also was able to apologize after talking to jake. yoon did feel bad for not being a better sister. she regretted everything that she did but she still has guilt because she doesn't defend her little sister when the girls on the dance team talk about her.

jina came back home after her ISS but she still has access to her dorm and will sleep there whenever she wants to.

after eating breakfast jina made her way up to her room and closed the door behind her. she made her way to her dresser and picked up the necklace that was in a wooden box with her name carved into it.

jina observed the necklace. it had a design that looked like vines forming a circle, but the middle of the circle it was empty, as if a charm or gem was supposed to go in it. the vines also had small butterfly designs.

she received a letter as well. jina wished that she knew more about her family and family history. she didn't understand why her parents never wanted them to know more about their family. especially her grandparents.

speaking of family, jina, professor minhyuk, and soobin became closer. when soobin found out that he was jina's step cousin he was shocked.

speaking of soobin, anytime jina would come into contact with soobin she'd ask him if he was doing okay or if anything was bothering him. soobin would respond with simple a simple "no" or "no im okay."

jina couldn't understand why she kept having that nightmare of him. and specifically him. it was always the same dream over and over again and it made jina go crazy. she didn't understand what kind of message this dream was sending to her.

the next day came by, and the sim siblings made it to school. it was first period and jina made her way into art class. she spotted niki and sat right next to him.

"morning jin, how was your weekend?" questioned niki as he took out his supplies.

"morning...and my weekend was pretty good..how was yours?"

"just found out that during christmas im gonna go to japan to visit family. i'm so excited." said niki as a wide smile spread across his face. jina couldn't help but smile at the boys excitement. she knew how much family meant to niki and moving here to korea for school was kind of hard for him at the start.

"thats so cool niki! i know you're going to have so much fun." said jina.

class soon began and children were off to work. for the past days jina seemed to be distracted at times. she would space out for longer minutes, headaches would occur, and a nauseating feeling would creep up on her.

lunch, came around and the group was hanging out under the tree. jina sat in between heeseung and jungwon. the girl couldn't help but suddenly feel drowsy. this day felt so long to her and she was just exhausted with what's been going on.

jina grabbed her sweater and lied down on the soft grass. she looked up at the tree that was slowly swaying due to the wind. heeseung looked down at jina and he couldn't help but worry.

heeseung noticed jinas behaviors sort of changing. he knew something was wrong and he wanted to know what was going on but he didn't want to ask.

"hey! so are we gonna go to the football game this friday?" questioned sunoo.

"yeah i think so...should we go?" questioned bahiyyih as she raised an eyebrow eyeing everyone. heeseung slightly shrugged in response.

"i'm sure jin would want to go to see her brother and sister." said jungwon as he looked down at the sleeping girl.

"poor jina, she's probably super tired." said bahiyyih as she pouted.

JINAS DREAM
(jinas pov)

i find myself in a dark cold library. i look around and notice that im in the school library. this is something different. suddenly i hear a whisper,
"jina..."

i make my way upstairs and follow the faint voice. i make my way in between two bookshelves where there was a desk and chair. it was a studying section. i look out the window and it's dark outside.

"jina."

i turn and i see blood spreading all over the floor. my eyes widen seeing the large amount of blood.

"i died here." whispered the voice.

the voice that was speaking sounded familiar but i couldn't get it through my head. suddenly i hear footsteps. i look up and see a tall dark figure staring at me.

"i'm here.." said the tall figure while holding a knife full of blood.

my eyes widen when suddenly he steps closer to me and...

"JINA WAKE UP!"

jina quickly woke up. she was sweating and was hyperventilating. her hands were shaking and she looked pale. the group of friends were surrounding her and all they just felt was pure worry.

"wh-what happened?" questioned jina as she looked around in confusion.

"you fell asleep...and i think you had a nightmare..are you okay?" questioned bahiyyih as she fixed the girls hair.

"jina...are you okay?" questioned heeseung softly as his hand fell on the girls shoulder. jina looked into the boys eyes. she wanted to say no and tell everything to heeseung. but she couldn't.

"i'm fine...it's just nightmares.." said jina as she let out a deep exhale.

"you scared us jina...do your nightmares usually leave you scared like this?" questioned sunoo with worry.

"uh...i don't know..sometimes. not all the time." responded the girl.

"well jina..just know that if you ever need to talk, we're here...okay?" said bahiyyih as the others nodded.

"thanks guys.."

school came to an end, heeseung and jina walked out of the classroom together, "today i'm staying at my dorm..just in case if you wanna stop by." said jina as she sent heeseung a small smile.

"cool, maybe i'll be able to come over. what are you going to do right now?" questioned heeseung as he raised an eyebrow.

"i have to go to the library to find a book for my world history project," sighed jina as she rolled her eyes, "when i'm done maybe i'll come by if you want."

"i'll see, cause right now my dorm is pretty messy so just message me when you're done." requested heeseung as he sent the girl a small nod.

"alright, see you later." said jina as she held the boys arm and gave it a light squeeze.

jina made her way out of the school building and began to walk to the library. she felt nervous about going to the library especially after the dream she had.

she made it into the library and greeted the librarian. jina already knew where to go due to her working here for a while because of her ISS. jina made her way upstairs and walked down the shelves looking for the history section.

jina stopped seeing the history section. but her heart dropped realizing that the spot where she was at is where she was in her dream. jina let out a shaky breath and walked towards the desk. she put her backpack onto the ground and checked her surroundings.

she began looking through the shelves and found a book that seemed perfect for her assignment. jina sat down on the desk and began looking through the book to see if it was something she should take home  or not.

suddenly jina began to hear footsteps. they became louder as they got closer and closer. jina quickly got up and turned and there she saw mister jin who had a face full of concern.

"woah.." he said, "sorry i didn't know you were in here..came to look for a book." explained mister jin as he walked towards the self that was on jina's right side.

"s-sorry, i just get startled very easily." chuckled jina nervously as she closed her book.

mister jin grabbed a book and sent jina a small smile, "welp i hope with whatever you're doing goes well. and again, sorry i did not mean to scare you."

jina began to shiver due to how cold it was. but it was november it did start becoming colder especially with rain, "don't worry but thank you mister jin, i'll visit your class someday." she said as she began putting on her sweater.

"sounds great! and bring heeseung too, hes a great kid. see you soon." said mister jin as he pat the girls shoulder and made his way out of the library.

jina sighed as she grabbed her book and took it downstairs to get it checked out, "make sure to return this by the time you finish using it okay?"

"got it. thanks." responded jina as she sent the librarian a smile.

jina made her way out of the library and on her way to the dorms. she sent heeseung a message that she finished doing what she had to do in the library. the girl made it and entered the cold quiet dorm.

she made her way into her room and started to change out of her uniform and into comfortable clothes. she received a message from heeseung saying that he was going to be going over to her dorm.

once she finally finished getting herself and everything ready heeseung came by, "how was the library trip?" questioned heeseung as he threw himself onto the couch.

"it was alright. but i bumped into mister jin, he wanted to get a book." explained jina as she sat down on the couch close to the boy.

"mister jin is a cool teacher. i like him. but you know what's weird though?" questioned heeseung as he raised an eyebrow.

"hm?" hummed jina as she began to play with her hair.

"i have never heard of him. like...i dont know.. all my years i've been here i didn't know he was like...an existing teacher." chuckled heeseung.

"maybe he's just like super new you know? like he barely became a teacher here." said jina as she shrugged.

"yeah maybe..hm..i don't know...i just thought i'd hear about him." said heeseung as he made a face full of confusion.

the next day, comes by quickly and jina is just waiting to get home. she was tired and wanted to take a nap since she experienced her terrifying nightmare again.

jina was tired of having the same dream over and over again. she wanted to tell someone about it but she was terrified about what kind of reactions she'd receive.

"doing anything today when we finish with our research?" questioned heeseung as he turned to the tried looking girl.

"just relax...im..so tired." sighed jina as she rubbed her droopy eyes.

"i did notice that you've been...really sleepy..are you not getting enough sleep?" said heeseung as he tilted his head and raised an eyebrow. it comforted jina knowing that someone really cared about her health.

"ive just been...getting a lot of...night mares..." said jina slowly kind of regretting for speaking up about the topic.

heeseung slowly chewed on his lip and made a thinking kind of face, "that was something i was...going to ask you about. like what happened that time in lunch...i was really worried...and that one day during ISS when you had the nightmare.."

jina's eyes slightly widened remembering how she had a nightmare one time during her ISS. and she was able to finally remember how she's dreamt about the library and being in the same exact spot.

"oh my..god..." sighed jina quietly, "heeseung...do you know...if any murders took place here?"

heeseung was taken back with the sudden question, "no...i don't think so...w-why?"

jina sighed in annoyance as she rolled her eyes, "heeseung, if i tell you this....can you just...please don't think that i'm crazy...or something,"

heeseung slightly chuckled, "jina, i wont. i promise."

later that evening, heeseung was laying flat on jina's bed and jina as sitting up. the boy was patiently waiting for jina to talk to him about what has been going on.

"so...lately...i have been having nightmares of the...library.." spoke up jina as she shifted uncomfortably. heeseung propped himself up onto his elbows and observed the nervous looking jina.

"it's always in a specific spot. where all the world history stuff is. i keep seeing pools of blood....and a voice always says that...they died there. and my dream always ends with this sort of creepy voice saying "i'm here"...a-and it's just...really scary.."

heeseung blinked many times and slowly nodded, "i'm sure that's very scary..and i'm sorry you keep experiencing these dreams..are they all like that or do you get different ones?"

jina began to think. she didn't know wether she should tell heeseung about her reoccurring dreams of soobin.

"nope...thats all.." she lied as she slowly shook her head.

heeseung hummed while nodding his head, "well...i don't know...i have heard many things about the school but they're not confirmed." he said.

"like what?" questioned jina.

"mmm...well i don't know...a lot of people make up rumors here and there. i hear that the school is cursed, i hear that like these mythical magic stones are buried under the school somewhere.." chuckled heeseung, "but...i do...hear a lot...that the library is haunted."

"ugh see! somethings up with the library! i don't get it. why? what have people said about the library?"

"many people have said that books always fly off the shelves, things can go missing, some things go out of place, and i hear that it's a male spirit haunting the library." explained heeseung.

"and in my dreams...i hear a male voice..." trailed off jina, "you know what...fuck it...i'm gonna talk to professor minhyuk if i have the chance.."

heeseung rolled his eyes, "tsh good luck with that."

jia turned to heeseung, "what do you mean by that?"

"when it comes to business or anything about school he keeps it confidential. no matter what." said heeseung in a serious tone, "he would argue a lot with my dad when i would get into trouble and when my dad would ask about the school and it's system, professor minhyuks would keep quiet."

"hm.." hummed jina, "maybe...i can try to find a way for him to spill anything. i think i'll be able to find a way."

later that night, aunt luna, jina and heeseung were in the kitchen making food. jina had to have heeseung over so they could plan out their astronomy which was assigned to them earlier that day.

the front door opened and jake entered the house laughing away with sunghoon. jina and heeseungs hearts dropped to their stomachs. jina didn't expect to see sunghoon, she thought jake was going to stay at sunghoons.

"guys! we're home from practice! sorry aunt luna sunghoons house wasnt available!" exclaimed jake from the living room while putting his shoes and bags away into a storage closet.

"what are you guys mak-"

jake paused seeing heeseung in the kitchen. he then looked at his sister and back at heeseung. sunghoon was just as shocked. eyes wide and side eyeing everyone.

"w-whats he doing here?" questioned jake as he eyed heeseung up and down.

"we're partners for a project.." replied jina in annoyance not liking her brothers attitude.

"j-jina...i do not trust you with him-"

"enough jake!" interrupted aunt luna in anger.

heeseung gulped nervously hating the situation he was in right now, "i-i'll just go jina.." whispered heeseung.

"wh-NO! heeseung you're staying..." insisted jina as she grabbed his hand, "jake....what is your problem with him! he's never done anything to you!" argued jina.

jake scoffed, "jin! i've heard so many-"

"YEAH! YOU SEE?! HEARD...thats what you said jake...'heard' ...you've never talked to him in your life...and you're over here making assumptions because you've heard what people have said. i used to hear things about heeseung...but once i got to know him...he's a way different kind of person...whoever i hang out with us none of your concern.." said jina and she stormed up to her room taking heeseung away from the situation.

"heeseung oh my god...im so sorry...im super sorry.." said jina in an upset tone while starting to panic. heeseung looked down at the girl who kept on rambling on in a panicked way,

"heeseung i really am sorry! im so sorry i didn't know-"

"j-jina.."

"i wish jake was just more understanding..."

heeseung grew impatient, "jina!"

the girl stopped rambling. heeseungs hands were on her shoulders and his soft doe eyes were looking into her watery sharp eyes. there was silence and the only sound that echoed through the room was jina's heavily breathing but it began to slow down.

"jina...i already know that your brother doesn't like me. i knew he was going to react badly. but please do know that, i could care less about what he says about me. what i care about is you...and your feelings...and just everything okay? only you."

a tear slipped out of jina's eyes or expecting such words from heeseung. she's never seen or heard heeseung speak to her this way. the words of heeseung comforted jina.

jina quickly wiped away her tear and slowly nodded, "okay..." she whispered. heeseung nodded with her and a small smile formed on his lips. jina then hugged the boy tightly and he didn't hesitate to hug back.

"let's get some sleep..you need it.." said heeseung softly. jina nodded and she made her way towards her bed. heeseung laid on the inflatable mattress  that was next to jina's bed.

the two exchanged good nights and they fell into a deep sleep.

JINAS DREAM...
*jinas pov*

i find myself in the living room of the house, it's dark, gloomy, and cold.

"anyone here?" i question out loud but no one responds. i look around the living room and no one is here with me. all of the sudden i hear the sound of a door slowly opening behind me.

i turn and i see the basement door slowly opening and a man entering. i couldn't see his face because he was already entering the basement.

i start to make my way towards the door and i open in more which reveals the dark stairs that led down to the basement. i take a deep breath in and slowly walk down.

i make it down and it's like an empty room full of fog, "jina.."

i look up and see a tall shadow figure, "find them. save us." said the figure.

"wh-who are you?" i question not moving an inch.

the figure began to walk closer and closer to me and his face becomes visible.

"d-dad?"
