Valentines Day-Blue x Dream(fluff)

{Happy valentine's day everybody! I've been gone for a bit, sorry. Inspiration is hard to come by ya know. Anyway, here's one of my favorite ships for the special}

There was something about those two. No matter which universe they were in, who they were interacting with, everybody could see it.

It wasn’t just in the way they worked together. They seemed to know exactly what the other was doing at any given moment, even if they were across the multiverse from each other. They always worked in tandem, be it when fighting Nightmare and his gang, rescuing citizens, or when they were repairing buildings.

It wasn’t how they seemed to complement each other. One being hot and fierce, seeming minutes away from exploding. The other, calm and cool, the only thing keeping the first in check. Fire and ice, constantly bickering yet always able to restrain the other when needed. One, harsh with honesty, lashing people with words that burned with the truth. One, sharp in telling lies, never seeming clear until the answer was pointed out, words that stung with cold lies.

No, it was something else. Though nobody could tell exactly what it was.

Nobody but the pair in question of course.

“Oh come on Blue! It’ll be fun and you know it!” Dream was trying—really, truly trying—to get their boyfriend to wear the dress they got him. Blue, on the other hand, wasn't having it.

“Absolutely not! You know this is too tight fitting! For stars sake, you’d think someone who’s five-freaking-hundred years old would be able to think!”

Yes, Dream had indeed gotten a slightly tight dress for Blue. But it was because they knew full well what Blue had gotten them!

“Tell you what snowflake,” Dream started, standing in the room the two shared as Blue got changed in the bathroom. “I’ll wear the damned miniskirt you got me if you wear the dress.”

“Only if you wear the crop-top too!” came the reply. Dream sighed, knowing full well they had to agree.

“Alright, sure. But we’re just going to Outertale, got it? I don’t feel like dealing with any people while in that…”

“Deal. Now hurry up and get changed, sunshine. I gotta pop back to my place to get you something else.”

Dream hummed in acknowledgement, already trying to get changed. Curse their damn complicated outfit! It took them nearly five minutes just to take it off, and then they had to look for the stupid outfit Blue had gotten.

It was a nice gift though. A light cream colored top, small stars in yellow, blue, and green. The miniskirt was a dark gray, silver and pale blue glitter on it to make it look like a night sky. It did look nice, even if Dream didn’t like the way they themself looked in something that revealing.

Still, only fair since Blue has to wear such a form-fitting dress.

Speaking of which, a light snap next to Dream alerted them to their boyfriend’s presence. That and the immediate drop in temperature that always accompanied Blue.

Turning to face him, Dream started to glow a bit more, as the dress Blue was wearing did indeed fit him perfectly. Well, by Dream’s standards that is.

It was a really pretty dress, sleeveless and reaching a little past Blue’s knees. It was made in a base shade of midnight blue, fading to a pale baby blue at the bottom. Blue had taken off his gloves so as not to clash with his outfit, though that effect was ruined by the ever-present bandana currently tied around his arm.

“Well aren’t you beautiful,” he said, strolling towards the glowing skeleton quite easily despite the heels he had on. Dream seemed rooted to the spot, though the glow growing brighter by the second meant it wasn’t from fear. Blue just smiled, pecking Dream once on the cheek before grabbing their gloved hand and kissing it as well.

“I got way too lucky with you,” he said, meeting Dream’s eyes as the pair relished in their closeness. It had taken a while to get here, to where both were comfortable enough with their bodies to show them to each other, to let the other close. But now it was as common as the spring rains, as the flowers they always saw when on walks together.

Dream snapped out of their daze and opened up a portal to Outertale. Not to the ledge commonly visited by Error, but an entirely separate piece of land, distance from the main section of the au.

The two settled down, Blue’s natural chill neutralizing Dream’s own haze of warmth. They were silent for a few minutes, just enjoying the stars and the other’s company. Finally Blue broke the silence.

“So…it’s Valentine’s Day. I’ve always liked this day, when lovers spend extra time with each other, making this day as amazing as possible to set the tone for what the year will be like. So I got us something.”

At this, he pulled out a box, lightly marked hands delicately opening it. Inside were two silver bracelets, saturated with magic and intent. Dream gasped, sensing the love put into it by Blue himself.

“We both wear our gloves far too often for rings, necklaces are a problem with my bandana, and your crown means circlets are out of the question. I figured these were best. I made the charms on them myself! Took a bit to get the enchantment right, but that book of yours is pretty helpful.”

Yes, now that Dream looked closer, they could see the small shards of ice, one shaped like an apple, the other like a regular monster soul. Powerful magic was there to keep the ice from melting and allow it to retain a nice light blue color.

“Blue,” they started, finally understanding what exactly the gifts were for. “You can’t mean-“

“Dream, light of my life,” Blue cut in, saying the words Dream had never expected to hear. “Would you, please, be my other half, flames to my snow, warmth to my cold, and be my mate for as long as we’re alive?”

Silence, broken by a single sob as Dream, now glowing as bright as an actual star, flung themself into Blue’s arms. Blue could hear the powerful deity crying and saying yes, that the two would be together forever.

Blue hugged back. What else was he supposed to do? Five years they had been together, and he had finally gotten the courage to ask.

Dream reigned themself in finally, leaning back with only a couple of sniffles. Blue took their hand and slid the band with the soul charm on it. The band tightened a bit, so as to be able to stay on for as long as possible. Dream leaned over, grabbing the other hand and sliding it onto Blue’s wrist. It tightened as well, then both glowed faintly with the pair’s magic.

The two kissed once more, looking at each other as though they were the only ones around. Then they turned back to the stars, mates forever entertwined, fire and ice at peace, in love, together.
