Chapter XVIII

Team RWBY stood in the amphitheater.

Following the appearance of the "Bat-Man", as Roman Torchwick referred to him, a voice called all of the students into the amphitheater to discuss the event.

Ruby and Blake were the only two who had any idea what Batman was, although neither knew about either of their interactions with him. Both knew for sure he would be the topic of discussion.

After a few minutes of waiting for everyone to be present and accounted for, Professor Ozpin, the Headmaster of Beacon Academy stepped onto stage.

"I am not sure how many of you are aware," he said, "but last night, there was an incident at the docks of Vale. Something attacked Roman Torchwick and his men. They call it . . . The 'Bat-Man'."

Ruby and Blake knew they were right, but it was Ruby who was genuinely concerned about Ozpin's next statements. She was certain it was Batman who had come to her that night asking about Roman.

The announcement went on how she expected, with Professor Ozpin claiming the "Bat-Man" was a vigilante, and that he needed to be stopped.

"The acts of vigilantism is unacceptable," he said. "If anyone meets the 'Bat-Man', I want you to take him off the streets, and turn him in. If anyone has any questions, ask them now."

A student raised her hand. "What is he exactly? They're saying he's just a guy, or a creature."

"He's a man in a costume," Ozpin said.

Ruby raised her hand, and Ozpin called on her. "I don't mean any offense, but he locked up one of the kingdom's most dangerous crime lords."

"Taking the laws into your own hands is not something I permit," Ozpin said.

Ruby nodded in understanding. But deep down, she wasn't in agreement.

After the announcement came to a close, Blake led Team RWBY back to their dorm, and shut the door behind them.

"Alright, Blake," Weiss said. "You've been excited to tell us something all day. So what's going on?"

Blake hurried to her bed, reached under her pillow, and pulled out the file Batman had given her that night. She opened it up, revealing the leverage for Judge Faden.

"I have what we need to make sure Torchwick will be put in jail!"

Weiss' jaw dropped, and she took the file from her. "Is this what I think it is?"

"It's everything we need," she said. "With this, we can finally get him where he belongs!"

The girls were all just as excited as Blake, but Ruby stayed calm, taking the file from Weiss, and approaching Blake while the other two were distracted.

"You didn't happen to get this from a guy in a black suit, did you?" she whispered.

Blake raised an eyebrow, confused as to what she meant. "What do you mean?"

Ruby stepped closer. "Did he have a thing for bats?"

Blake looked up to see Weiss dialing a number on her scroll, while Yang cheered in victory.

"Yes," Blake whispered. "He saved me from some thugs, and he gave me the file."

Ruby paused for a moment. "Alright. Let's keep that between the two of us. If we're going to get Roman in, it's probably best not to talk about him."

Blake nodded.

"Understood . . ."
