[i had to listen to every love song i know just to think of a plot lol]

"i heard cai bing and yaning lives together now! oh my god isn't it just great!?" jiao cheered, clapping her hands as she leaned over the table of the cafe and stared far away, heaving a dreamy sigh, meanwhile her twin, qiao sighed.

"yeah, can you stop fawning about it now? you've been talking about it for so many times already!" qiao, the ash purpled-haired twin exasperatedly sighed.

jiao, the red-haired twin, rolled her eyes, scoffing. "aren't you happy about them? because i am!" jiao glared at her twin, who was pouting, before taking a sip at her drink.

out of the sudden, jiao gasped, before looking at her sister, glaring harsher than before, pointing her index finger towards the other twin, surprising qiao.

"you! are you homophobic?!" jiao asked, her voice clear and loud. qiao looked horrified, shock expression plastered on her face.

"shush! shut up jiao there are people here!" qiao whispered— yelled at the same time, putting her index finger at her lips as she tried to shush the red-head twin and pulled her.

jiao looked at people in the cafe, some minding their business, some disturbed by the twin.

incidentally, jiao's pair of eyes met with another pair of eyes from the other side of the table.

the girl was looking at them, her ears covered by a small headphone, alone at the table.

jiao and the girl had a small eye contact before the girl laughed and shook her head, looking back at her phone as she ate her food.

"jiao? are you up? hey!" qiao tried to call her twin who looked back at her, face confused.

"as i said you need to lower your voice. it's embarrassing." qiao whispered aggressively, jiao shook her head and nodded, before turning her head towards her sister.

qiao once again started rambling about other things in thier school, things that annoyed her and things she saw, but jiao couldn't help but turn her eyes back to the girl before— seems like she is busy with something.

"there's this activity we need to do and i honestly don't have any energy on me to do it, gosh can you help me with it sis?" qiao stated, scrabbling things on her notes as jiao watched her, muttering things under her breath.

"what? again? can't you do it yourself?" jiao asked, as she watches her sister look up at her and glared.

"the foods you ate are my treat." that got jiao nodding, unable to retort.

jiao noticed from the corner of her eyes that the stranger wearing an obnoxious looking headphone, wearing a uniform stood up and walked slowly to the exit.

damn it, she left.

"ok cool!" qiao smiled at her twin.

as soon as jiao entered her and qiao's shared room she plopped helplessly on her bed, sighing.

she thought that the girl from earlier looked cool, wearing her plain uniform and that black headphone sticking on her ears.

does she ever feel like her ears hurt?

it was a random thought, but jiao couldn't seem to take her mind off the girl.

not today, but maybe tomorrow— i'll try and see if she's there again.

°°°°°°

"qiao needed help with her activity, i don't want to do it but i don't have any choice." jiao sighed deeply as she walked with kotone through the hallways of their school, the other girl listening intently.

"why though, you could just shoo her away or something." kotone shrugged, looking back at her friend who rolled her eyes.

"i wish i could but she bought me food, mom would be mad. i hate her so much." kotone laughed and shook her head.

"and you said yes."

"yes, of course."

jiao stopped from her tracks as they reached the lockers, carefully placing her things.

"nevermind that, we can work on our project in the nearest cafe if you want." jiao looked at her friend smiling. kotone stared at her, before nodding.

"sure." kotone answered.

jiao actually planned on having kotone to work with her in the cafe, it was exactly the same time where she and her twin arrived at the cafe yesterday, and she thought that maybe she'll spot the girl again at the same table, alone.

as they arrived, there were almost a few people around, jiao looked around, trying to spot the same obnoxious looking headphone and a girl in a plain uniform.

but there was none.

so jiao just sat across kotone as kotone took her order.

"what are you getting?" kotone asked, jiao looked at her, realizing and she nodded. "just a strawberry cake and a chocolate frappe." jiao smiled, kotone bobbed her head and took jiao's order.

jiao's ears perked as she heard a bell from the entrance, and there she saw with her two eyes as the familiar face entered.

it's funny, because jiao felt like she knew this girl, even when they've literally only saw each other yesterday.

jiao's heart raced as she felt the girl's presence near, the girl decided to seat next to jiao and kotone's table, ignoring the red-haired girl who stared at her.

"ok, the order is coming soon." kotone stated, surprising jiao, as the other girl sat down on the chair.

"what? did you see a ghost?" kotone asked, looking at jiao who flushed red and shook her head, chuckling.

"no, it's just hot today you know?" jiao stammered.

kotone brought out her things, notes, books and her laptop, busying herself.

meanwhile, jiao took out her laptop and leaned in her seat, and from her seat, where she was across the mysterious girl, their backs were facing each other from their seats.

jiao could hear the song playing inside the girl's headphone, and she was mumbling along the lyrics, laughing to herself as she got the lyrics wrong.

so cute.

jiao thought.

her thoughts were cut off as soon as their orders arrive, sitting properly and beginning to work on their project.

even with her eyes, mind fixated on her work, jiao's ears were all up on the girl behind her, listening to every word she utters, she wondered if she was as curious as jiao was.

because it's suffocating her to know anything about the girl behind her.

it was almost an hour passed and kotone's phone suddenly started ringing, kotone picking it up.

"mom?"

"home? ok, i'll get there in just a minute."

"i'm in a cafe with my friend."

kotone puts her phone done and glanced at jiao who stared at her.

"sorry jiao, mom called me home."

jiao nodded, smiling. "oh ok! it's good." kotone smiled at her and then packed her things before exiting the cafe.

jiao didn't wanna leave yet.

her mind didn't want her to leave yet.

bored, jiao closed her laptop and leaned on her chair, trying to listen to the girl behind her.

suddenly, it began to rain, surprising jiao as she stood up and glanced at the window pain, cursing under her breath.

"hell, i forgot to bring an umbrella." jiao muttered.

unknown to her, a certain someone could hear her. jiao picked up her things, before turning her head behind her to see the same girl, using her phone and sitting down.

jiao sighed, heading towards the exit, she was greeted by a strong rain, droplets of rain aggressively falling from the gray sky to the gray pavements.

"i should've left earlier." jiao muttered, rolling her eyes.

as jiao was about to step out of the shed of the cafe, she felt a hand placed on her shoulder, making her stop and look behind to see the same girl, looking at her with an umbrella.

"you're gonna run into the rain? it's raining hard, it'll probably last until later." the stranger stated, eyes glinting a spark inside its pupils as she stared at jiao's doe eyes.

jiao pursed her lips, cheeks puffing as she nodded.

the taller girl chuckled under her breath, walking besides jiao while holding her umbrella, making sure the two of them weren't going to get wet.

"i'll go with you at the bus stop, you okay with that?" the girl inquired, brows rising up to accommodate her face.

jiao nodded.

as they walk through the wet pavements under the strong rain, jiao noticed that the girl's shoulder couldn't fit under the umbrella and that her uniform was getting wet.

as they stop under the bus stop, inside a small shed, the girl closed her umbrella.

jiao pulled out a small handkerchief, gently patting the wet patch on the girl's shoulder.

"u-uh it's okay—"

"sorry your uniform got wet!" jiao stammered.

the girl shook her head. "no it's okay. let's just wait for the bus."

jiao held the handkerchief in her hand, gently placing it on her bag.

"where are you going?" jiao asked.

the girl glanced at her, before heaving a small smile.

"actually my family owns that cafe, but i go to my sister's house everytime." the girl answered.

jiao nodded.

"what's your name?" jiao looked up as soon as she heard the question.

"liang jiao."

the girl's smile widens.

"choi y/n."

"ohhh, nice to meet you." jiao smiled back.

"u-uhm, if it's okay— can i get your number?" y/n looked away, as she slowly handed her phone towards jiao, cheeks flushing red.

jiao nodded, picking up her phone as she exchanged numbers with y/n.

"nice to meet you! let's see each other again!" jiao beamed as she watches as y/n took of her headset for the first time.

"yeah," y/n looked at her, eyes crescent.

jiao felt her cheeks warm up as she had an eye contact with the taller girl, heart racing fast.

a sound of wheels drifting woke the two away from their fantasies, there, finally was the bus.

"take care." y/n stated, waving her hands, a warm smile plastered on her lips. jiao hummed, waving her hands back as she got into the bus.

jiao sat, looking at the window as the bus starts, relishing every moment she had with y/n today.

tomorrow she was looking forward what events unfold in front of her, hoping it could be more than what it is now.

"i don't even know what's happening to me." jiao squirmed on her seat as she smiled, holding her phone with y/n's contact number on it.

y/n watches the bus disappear from her sight as she stood still under the shed like a pillar, smiling to herself.

y/n heaved a dreamy sigh, putting her headphones back on her ear as she started walking off.
