"kim gaeul, she's incredible." y/n muttered under her breath as she read pass through their school's students history. y/n has been studying in an all girl's school her whole life, not being able to even feel any presence of a boy on her life. and just like her, her senior, kim gaeul had been also studying at an all girl's school, difference is that she had boys following her for a long time.

"no wonder even students from other schools know her." y/n muttered once again as she closed the students history journal, seeing as one of her friends— kim dayeon enters the classroom and took a seat besides her.

"what's that?" dayeon asked, taking a peek of the journal in her hands, y/n scooted away, scoffing as she swats her friend's hand, earning a groan.

"no peeking!" y/n stated, bringing the journal close to her. dayeon laughed, shaking her head as she sat properly at her chair. "seriously y/n, where'd you even get that?" dayeon asked, which got a snicker from the other girl as y/n laughed.

"oh? this? i joined the student council as a helper then they gave me this!" y/n replied, before tucking in the journal inside her bag, earning a huff from the other girl. "why did you join? yesterday you said you weren't interested?" dayeon asked, leaning on her seat as she watched y/n intently with both eyes.

oh right, yesterday a man who advices the student council entered their classroom asked if anyone was interested since new class year just started and clubs were looking out for new members, then specifically went to the seat where y/n and dayeon are together. he asked if y/n was interested into taking the job, since dayeon already had a club she joins at.

unfortunately, y/n thought it was not it— she didn't like the thought of being dumped with school works plus things that include their school, it was a lot of responsibility she had to carry.

so y/n rejected the offer.

"oh, yeah. yesterday, i met the president of the student council, she was so nice to me!" dayeon looked rather baffled, please don't say she was nice that's why y/n joined the student council without thinking through it.

"and?" dayeon asked, her eyebrows rising. y/n gulped yet continued. "she helped me and so i thought maybe i can you know? repay her?" y/n shrugged, which got a nod from her friend who looked back at the front, lips pursing and cheeks puffing.

"yeah i get it. was she pretty in person?" dayeon asked, smiling mischievously, now that y/n thinks about it, gaeul was extremely pretty, like her face was cut by the gods.

y/n nodded. "you haven't seen her around yet?" she asked, in return getting a nod. "absolutely, this school is big and the chances i might see her face to face is small." dayeon replied, eyes squinted, seeing the surprised look on her friend.

now that y/n remembers it, she owed gaeul a lot for saving her cat who was stuck in the flowing river, if it wasn't for her myao would be drowning and would get washed away by the flow of the river.

— yesterday.

"myao! where are you?!" y/n yelled through the alley, her shoes stepping and making sounds while it crushed the dead leaves into pieces, her voice dipped in concern and anxiety as she continued to roam around and look for a certain brown and round cat.

"gosh, where did that cat go?" she muttered, her heart heavy as she continued to walk in the alley near the roaring river. just a moment ago, she decided she would buy cat food for her two cats, shippo and myao, but incidentally, she forgot to close the door of their house and that's probably how myao got out while shippo was asleep.

when y/n came back, myao wasn't around anymore and that's where she started to look everywhere.

she's starting to get more worried than she ever was as she looked further more.

when she was just a few meters away from the forest, she heard a rather mellow meow from a far that sounded like a cry.

y/n immediately trudged where she heard it, accidentally tripping and falling on her butt, as y/n tried to stand up, she groaned at the pain yet still trudged to where the river was.

then there she saw it, standing in the middle of the river, above a relatively small rock was myao, crying as the river continued to flow non-stop with force.

"myao!" y/n yelled, followed by a groan as she felt the pain on her ankles from tripping seep through her nerves. "wait for me." y/n muttered, realizing that she was in her uniform, y/n sighed.

"nevermind, i'll just reach for you." y/n started walking slowly down the slant of the soil where the river flows, but before she could place her foot down, a hand tugged her blazer pulling her back up.

"h-hey!" y/n countered trying to pull away but the force from the hand was a lot stronger, pulling her back to the alley. y/n looked back to see an unfamiliar face of a girl.

"don't go there, i'll get the cat." the girl simply said, she was wearing their school's t-shirt and a jogging pants, she crouched down, taking off her socks and shoes and pulling the jogging pants up above her knees, before slowly going down the river, stepping to the strong flow, the water reached below her knees as she walked oh so careful towards the rock myao was sitting at, hands reaching down to the round cat, embracing it.

y/n gasped, watched as the girl dropped the cat at the ground, before climbing up and dusting her hands on her jogging pants.

"myao!" y/n ran off towards her cat, lifting it up and embracing it tightly on her arms.

the girl watches, before taking something on her bag, dusting off her feet and wearing her shoes and socks back. "where did you even go!? i was so worried about you!" y/n spoke to the cat, acting as if the cat will answer the question.

the girl stood up. "next time make sure the cat doesn't go near this river, it's very dangerous for pets to be here." the girl reminded, eyes trailing off to the cat to y/n.

y/n nodded. "o-of course! sorry for that! i-i'm y/n! this is myao, i have another cat named shippo." y/n smiled sheepishly as she introduced herself.

the girl, smiled back. "i'm kim gaeul, you can see me at the student council office." gaeul introduced, before leaving.

starting from that encounter, y/n knew she had to thank gaeul.

"it's great to know you changed your mind! we really need helping hands in this office since we lack members." the adviser of the student council office stated, as she guided y/n back in the office.

yesterday, after the incident of gaeul helping y/n save her cat, y/n ran back to the school's faculty office to speak to the student council's adviser, asking if she could sign up again as a member, thankfully they did still have vacant position for her to take and she was gifted the students history journal, she was so happy to receive it and took it home as soon as possible.

"of course sir, i thought it'll be a nice change of pace to be able to help the council." y/n answered, well in fact she really doesn't know, all she wanted to do was to thank gaeul for what she did.

"that's great. by the way, this is the student council office, you can come and introduce yourself as soon as you enter, don't be scared all of them are nice. i just need to fix something in the faculty room okay?" y/n nodded watching as their adviser leaves and takes another turn.

y/n breathes heavily, hand clutching the doorknob as she gathered up all the courage left inside of her to open the door, but before she could twist it, a voice woke her up from her thoughts.

"y/n?" a familiar tone of voice made y/n turn behind her to see gaeul, standing with a bewildered expression on her face.

"o-oh! gaeul— senior?" y/n muttered, trying to find the right title to gaeul, to which gaeul shook her head and smiled. "ah no more formalities, you can call me gaeul if you want, by the way what made you come here?" gaeul asked, smiling at the other girl.

"i was asked yesterday by the adviser if i wanted to join so i applied for an application." y/n answered, which earned a hum from the older girl and a soft grin.

"i have no knowledge about that, but maybe wonyoung was the one who held you application. alright, if you want we can enter and i can introduce you to everyone, yes?" gaeul inquired, her voice laced with honey as she went and turned the knob, hand wrapping softly above y/n's hand.

"good morning." gaeul greeted, as she entered and closed the door, y/n bowed and stiffened. "o-oh good morning!"

a tall girl with a long hair and eyes so bright smiled. "ah hello there! are you the new member y/n?" y/n nodded to the question. "yes!"

"oh right, y/n that's the secretary jang wonyoung, the peace manager, kim jiwon, vice president ahn yujin and two members naoi rei and lee hyunseo, who helps us organize stuff, everyone! this is y/n, she's going to be our new member, might as well welcome her." gaeul introduced y/n causing the girl to stiff under the eyes of the members.

ahn yujin cheers. "ah! you're the same year as i am right? nice to meet you!" she grins. "you're the girl who post pictures and videos of your cats right? i love them." hyunseo, behind her desk stated, her iPad on her hands.

"nice to meet you y/n, it's great to see a new member here." jiwon smiles, her deep dimples showing on her cheeks. "nice, you can help gaeul out with the announcement of her position in the student council to the new students." rei stated, leaning on the bookshelves.

y/n nodded, before looking at gaeul whose ears are flushed pink and eyes fixated towards the members.

"o-oh sure." y/n replied.

it has been some hours since they started working over the speech gaeul will use and the speech y/n was writing. though it was hard at first, y/n is starting to get hang out of it, she enjoyed working with the members and talking with them while eating snacks.

yujin was loud and very funny, she genuinely liked the peacefulness of their room and the work they are doing.

the other members left and now gaeul and y/n are the only ones working. gaeul glanced at the busy y/n, writing on the paper while clutching on the pen tightly.

gaeul laughs. "maybe we can take a short break, yes? you look a little frustrated there." gaeul stated, placing down her pen as she stood up from the chair and went to make coffee.

"o-oh okay." y/n muttered, placing her pen down and sitting properly as she watched gaeul come back and set two cups of coffee and biscuits on the table.

"thanks." y/n smiled. gaeul sat down and took a sip on the coffee, looking at y/n who was fiddling with hers. "i was kind of surprised to see you here y/n." gaeul spoke, garnering y/n's full attention.

"me? oh, i joined yesterday because i, i thought it was a good change to join a curricular activity and to thank you." y/n answered, her voice trialing off as gaeul hums.

"really? no need to thank me, your reaction enough was good for me. and by the way i am glad you decided to join us." gaeul hums again, taking a piece of biscuit.

"well, it'll be a pleasure to help."

"and a pleasure to meet you and do things with you— i mean, hang out and some stuff as friends and colleagues." gaeul continued y/n's sentence.

y/n nodded. "yes." y/n takes a sip on her cup.

"i look forward in the things we can do in the future, i am glad to meet you." gaeul stated, giggling softly.

y/n face flush, her ears pink, as she bobbed her head and nodded. "me too, of course."

there she felt a hand on her head as gaeul leaned in and pats her hair softly.

"great." gaeul muttered.

starting from that moment, y/n knew she would never, ever quit or leave gaeul behind.
