Guinn Myah (GP999)

| beside you

"hey, you're really moving away?" myah asked, looking at the other girl, eyes full of emotion but the emotions being a mix of sadness and loneliness. y/n heaves a small breath, her other hand rubbing in her forearm, sighing. "yeah, i know, tragic right? but i really don't have any choice..." y/n muttered.

after some months of thinking about their future, y/n's family had come to a conclusion of moving to another city for the better, deciding that it'll be better than being away for work. y/n had no choice, being the only child to their family.

myah looked down, a small frown on her lips. "please don't ever leave..." she muttered, her voice trailing softly to a whisper. y/n blinks, stepping forward to myah and stretching her arms to hold her shoulders. "hey, i won't leave you, maybe i'll move away and we'd be away from each other— but it's not forever, i'd still talk to you." y/n reassured the other girl, patting her shoulders lightly before letting go.

myah looked up, eyes lighting up with a small glimmer of hope in them. she smiled. "promise you'd never leave me?" she asked. y/n smiled, leaning in as she whispered. "promise."

°°°°°

y/n sat inside the car, her phone in her hand while the other holds the polaroid of her and myah together. "y/n, are you ready to go?" asked y/n's father, looking at the mirror to see his daughter. y/n looked at her father, hesitant but nodded. "yeah."

the engine started and as the car accelerates, y/n's head run thoughts of myah.

from the window of her room, myah watched the familiar car leave the road, it slowly turning into a dot as it accelerates until it was out of her sight.

myah sighed, hoping she could just blow away her problems and sadness. myah walked back to her bed, sitting down before she plopped herself, heart heavy to the thought of y/n leaving.

the thought of not seeing y/n everyday must've really hurt than it should do, they can communicate through phones but nothing beats the presence of each other like always.

but good things don't last long.

i wish i was beside you.

°°°°°°

y/n took her bag, slinging it on her shoulder as she exits her room, going downstairs to be greeted by her mother and father. "i'm going." y/n simply announced as she took a piece of sandwich and walked away.

another day and somewhere new, y/n promised she'd comeback but nothing was assured, it was a promise solely made to make to two of them feel better at the thought of not being beside each other.

y/n arrived in the new school, new classroom and new people she had no idea who.

it's gonna be hard. y/n thought.

silent words are hard to speak when all she sees is myah's thoughts, all the things they promised and the little things she said.

even with her eyes closed.

is she thinking the same thing? probably not. y/n shrugged.

"hey, psst." y/n heard a voice behind her, assuming that it was to her, she looked behind and saw a girl, around her age if not, younger.

she's tall, like really tall.

y/n raised her brows, silent inquiry. she was right, the girl did call out to her and smiling she leaned a bit in on her own desk.

"you're new here right? hi, er... my name's lee hyunseo, i got cool older friends here!" she introduced herself, extending her arm for a handshake.

y/n stared at the hand given to her, before reaching out to shake it, immediately letting go. "hi, i'm choi y/n, nice to meet you." she smiled, almost a forced one, but the naive one did not care and smiled.

"let's be friends alright?" asked hyunseo who raised her brows, though hesitant, y/n nodded before facing away, thoughts once again occupied by myah.

°°°°°

thankfully, first period of class went well and recess came, y/n sat alone at a table hoping nothing disturbs her, but someone had placed a tray of snacks besides her. y/n looked up to see the tall hyunseo, smiling down at her.

"hey friend." she greeted, before sitting down.

"uh hi, hyunseo." y/n greeted, before going back to eating.

"tell me, did you came from another city or another country?" hyunseo asked, her voice dipped in curiosity, a naive one, as she looked over y/n who just stared at her.

why is she even here? y/n asked herself mentally.

"from another city." she answered.

didn't this girl had older friends? were are they?

"sorry was i bothering you? i couldn't eat with my higher year friends because we have different schedules and i don't have friends in our class." hyunseo stated.

come again?

y/n shook. "it's fine."

as the recess went by and classes gets dismissed one by one until lunch, y/n had realized hyunseo wasn't really that bad, she's high on energy yeah, but it feels nice having a companion whilst she was missing another one.

°°°°°°

white noises from the air-conditioner filled her ears as y/n laid down on her bed, waiting for a certain message from a girl she's been missing.

myah.

y/n.
received.

how was class?
received.

y/n looked at her phone laying on her stomach, picking it up as she read the two new messages from myah.

myah.

hey, it was good.
seen.

not as good as there,
but bearable at least.
seen.

seems good enough, hehe.
received.

it feels different not seeing
you in class...
received.

did i get used too much?
received.

attached too much. y/n thought as she sighed.

myah.

i feel the same as you do.
seen.

everything feels new.
seen.

new that's why.
received.

received.

i wish i was there.

received.

but you're better off with
your parents there.
received.

seen.

again right?
received.

yeah, that's what i promised
you.
seen.

i'm glad you promised
me that,
received.

but i wish you make a friend
there too, i don't want you
to feel lonely.
received.

friend. hyunseo?

i mean, she's nice and fun, but y/n doesn't know, it just feels off.

myah.

don't worry i'll manage.
seen.

received.

and introduce them to me.
received.

you sleep at night haha.
seen.

received.

the thought of you being alone
without me keeps me wide awake!
received.

i don't want you to feel
alone there!
received.

seen.

i'm with jeongmin,
she'll take care of me!
received.

so, promise me too that
you'll make a friend so i can
sleep peacefully at night.
received.

i promise.
seen.

alright! you should sleep
already.
received.

good night.
received.

good night :)).
seen.

y/n placed her phone on her bed, as she laid flat on her bed, sinking softly on the mattress, eyes fixated to the ceiling of her room, blinded by the light.

she and myah slept under the same night sky, to the same beat of their heart at the same time, it feels so close yet feels so far away.

suddenly, y/n's heart longed to be back.

it's not easy and she doesn't understand why.

°°°°°

y/n and myah woke up underneath the same time, and it feels like time stopped, y/n wished that she could rewind, eyes staring off the air as she breaths heavily.

"look! that's yujin-unnie! she's cool right?" hyunseo pointed to another tall girl playing one the field, what's with her and her friends, did they have that sort of a requirement to be tall?

y/n looked at hyunseo, scoffing playfully. "are your friends really that tall?" one, wonyoung, second, jiwon, third, rei, fourth, gaeul and now yujin— all them being ridiculously tall.

"i don't know but they seem cool so i became friends with them." hyunseo shrugged. y/n wondered why hyunseo had friends outside of their class but only had her inside. "am i your only friend from our class?" y/n asked, hyunseo looked at her, smiling. "yep! because, i think our classmates find me weird, so yeah..." her voice trailed off.

maybe, hyunseo is her friend.

°°°°

myah.

hey y/n!
received.

how's class?
received.

good.
seen.

i made a friend.
seen.

really!?
received.

what's their name?
received.

lee hyunseo. she has friends
outside of our class but none
inside of our class.
seen.

i guess i'm her first classmate
who's friends with her.
seen.

that's great!
received.

i want to meet her!
received.

maybe, i'll introduce myah to her.

y/n smiled at the thought.

°°°°°

"i have a friend in the city i used to live in, i still talk to her, somehow i can't seem to forget her and promised i'll see her again and make a friend while i'm far away so i won't be lonely." y/n stated, fiddling with her pencil, it was lunch and the two of them had finished eating and are now just sitting inside their classroom waiting for time to pass.

hyunseo's eyes opens wide at the information, tilting her head, she smiled. "am i that friend?" she grinned.

y/n cracks a small smile. "yeah, i guess... she said if i made one i should introduce them to her, it's a promise i made." y/n muttered.

hyunseo leans in the desk, her chin on her palm. "wait, do you love making promises?" hyunseo asked, tapping her finger on the wooden desk. y/n shrugged, chuckling. "not really, but she's someone special to me, so i try to fulfill every promise i make." y/n replied.

"very special?" hyunseo added, her voice tweaking with curiosity. y/n nodded. "very special."

hyunseo knits her eyebrows together, pouting. "then you must really like her, i guess you miss her everyday don't you? that's why it's hard to make new friends or meet new people." hyunseo stated.

y/n looked at hyunseo, her interest piqued. "like? what does that mean?" she asked. hyunseo leaned back on her seat, shrugging. "i guess, romantically? i don't know. you seemed bugged out at the thought of not being beside her and miss her every single time, you don't normally feel like that with friends, at least i don't."

now that y/n thinks about it, hyunseo was right.

is it just missing a friend or is it longing for someone she likes?

y/n doesn't get it.

but hyunseo was right, the thought of being far away from myah eats her up alive every night when she sleeps knowing they're far away but so close to each other.

"maybe..." she muttered.

°°°°°

days turned into weeks turns into month then a year, a year and a half has passed since she moved away yet she hasn't comeback to see myah again.

but worries were pushed back to the back of her mind as hyunseo pats her back. "okay, okay. stop being so nervous, that's a ticket right in your hands, a very long travel back there but you have the key in your hands, it's up to you if you'll take on." hyunseo stated.

y/n stood inside her room, a train ticket on her hand, her heart beating loudly inside her ribcage and it feels like exploding anytime soon.

"yeah, i get it, but i don't know what words to say when i meet her there." y/n protested, gritting her teeth.

hyunseo sighed. "why even think about that, when you see her just say the things you want to say! it doesn't matter, just say whatever's on your mind, trust me." hyunseo shook her body.

y/n nodded. "i guess, you're right."

°°°°°

the sound of the metal railings welcomes y/n's ears, her eyes opens wide as she was greeted by a train stopping in front of her, she held her bag before stepping in, breathing the air as hard as she can to collect herself.

y/n sat near the window, looking over the view, the non-stop beating of her heart begins to get louder each seconds that pass. y/n's thoughts were occupied of the words she told myah before she entered the train.

myah.

hey, i'd be busy for two days.
seen.

i don't think we talk much in
those days, hope you understand.
seen.

really?
received.

it's okay, i'll wait.
received.

i'll talk to you once i finish.
seen.

i promise.
seen.

°°°°°°

y/n steps out of the train, breathing the fresh air of the city she used to live in.

it feels nice.

walking her way outside of the station, she took a bus back to the village where her family used to stay, and there she sees the street, bustling with people who she didn't know.

she continued the walk to the familiar row of houses, and her eyes fell upon the familiar house, where myah lives.

y/n looked around, walking towards the door and knocking, yet there was no answer, she did once again but failed.

no answers.

where is she?

y/n stepped back, her breathing suddenly heavy.

"hello? who are you and why are you here?" a voice from behind her spoke, y/n turned around to meet the vibrant pair of eyes that turned wide as soon as they met.

"y/n!" myah yelled before rushing to embrace y/n who was red and flustered, surprised too.

"u-uh, myah." she simply muttered, hands slowly finding it's way to wrap around myah's figure.

"i missed you..." myah muttered in the crook of y/n's neck, her warm breath tickling y/n's skin.

"i missed you too." y/n whispered.

myah pulled away, looking at y/n with a big smile, which was returned by a small smile from y/n.

"you didn't change a bit! you're still the same y/n i last saw!" myah sobbed as rubbed her eyes.

y/n eyes softens. "of course i am, that's what i promised." y/n simply replied, reaching out to wipe the tears on myah's eyes.

myah sighed contently, giggling after. "i seriously missed you so much, i'm glad you visited me." myah breaths out. y/n looked at her, blinking a few times. "i missed you too, that's why i wanted to see you again."

myah grins before leaning in and embracing y/n tightly again, making sure every moment is worth it, y/n gives in the hug, feeling every warmth of the moment and wishing it would never end.
